  1. I think they compliment the black grill and make the blue bars stand out more. Much better then the white lights.

    I'd leave 'em.

I know what you mean about them being too dark though. The GTS covers are a PITA at night.

I had a set on my Sentra. Had to take them off on long drives. Drove the wife crazy (her vision sucks anyhow).

You can beat that w/ a set of small driving lights mounted under the bumper. More light w/o killing the effect of the blacked-out front end.

  2. That's crazy!!!!!!! I've seen some pretty dirty apartments but nothing like that... That person obviously has some SERIOUS issues.

    Ya, pack rat.

I'll bet 5 bucks the person weighs in over 400lbs... For all that fast food, they ought to.

I'll also bet that the place was rented on Section 8. Tax dollars at work.

  3. You don't have a lug wrench? How do you plan of changing your spare if you can't get the lug nuts off?

You don't really have to torque your lug nuts... That's just being anal.

If this is the case, you probably ought to take your truck to a shop to have it looked at. It may be expensive, but it could be unsafe to get further into this w/o prefessional help.

  4. 7k is just stupid. Do they have this out on the lot, or is it in the bullpen (the area in the back where they park repos and trade-ins)?

I don't know why, but it seems they alway quote you some crazy inflated price when you ask about something that they don't intend to sell.

I won't even bother asking about the bullpen any more. Better to try and catch it at auction.

In contrast, I bought mine for $1200 private. Listen to the guys above. Stay away from dealers.

Take your time. You'll find a good deal localy when you're least expecting it.

Seems like you never find what you want when you want it... So save your money!

  5. You can't just get a new stereo and hook into your existing wires. If you get a new unit, you should run new wires to the speakers so you bypass the amps hiding at the back of the truck.

Mine is run through the stock amp. I don't have to turn it up very high to be loud.

I know scosche makes a bypass for the amp, but I can't find it ATM....

  6. Soooo, you're having problems w/ your 15 y/o stereo...

I think it's time you euthanize 'er bubba. She's lead a full life.

Save your pennies, then go down to WalMart and pick-up a VR head unit.

They play USB, SD, CD, DVD (in some cases) and they have a jack int the face to hook up to an MP3 player.

They start at $60 and go up to $400 depending on what they do.

Impressive, cheap, and they beat the hell out of your broken stock one.

I might even have a stereo connector laying around somewhere if you want it. That way you don't have to hack up your harness.

I'll look around if you decide to go that route.

  7. Oh, and if the tension rods give (those front control/trailing arm things), you'll know.

Both rusted apart in my first Pathfinder. It would shake so badly over 45mph that your teeth would chatter... No exaggeration.

    Check those things frequently!

EDIT: Oops, wrong T-word... I just noticed that!

  8. I'm for bearings. Bushings creak while turning/bumping at low speed; Bearings roar (that's a technical term. Look it up ;)) all the time...

Does your truck sound like it's on a gravel road, even when you're on a smooth highway?

My Subaru sure does. Bad rear bearing. Huge replacement cost. Sucks.

  9. I think it's the solenoid.... I'll post more when I take it apart.

I think you're right. I also think that you should replace everything at once.

Putting a new solenoid on a crappy starter is going to make for another bad solenoid in a hurry, then you back to square one.

Why not start (pun: disregard) w/ a clean slate and know that you're good for another 4 years?

Having it rebuilt at a starter/alternator shop will bite you in the rear as well. Been there, done that, got burned, moved to NAPA.

BTW: I voted for the shiney stuff. :fireworx:

  10. Hey I'm just glad you're still around. I was sure you were going to clip that red wire that I forgot to mention.

No need to explain it now, but it can best be summed up in 3 words... Es-Plo-Gen.

Did it still have the blue, floppy vinyl thing for a circut board?

I wonder if the 240 gauges will swap like this. If so, that might make the Maxima, Altima and Sentra candidate donors as well.

  11. That would make sense if it was an American driving it

Speaking of which... I saw one of these on a '65 Mustang when I was in Perth, AU. The car was pristine (as were the girls driving) aside from the huge yellow tag. I always wondered about it.

Do other countries do this as well? I've never seen it done to a RHD here in the States.

  12. How big a problem is the rubbing? Think a 10mm wheel spacer would help?

I know those are supposed to be a nono, but I don't see how something that thin would hurt.

You'd still be able to your your stock studs.
