  1. thanks to sammyb33 im lifted up now. wasnt too bad but we did run into a few problems. still from start to finish only took about 4 hours. first problem was gettin the torsion bars out of the front. we had to weld a plate on both of em and hit the sh*t outta em with a BFH. it took like 1 1/2 hours to do the tbars. then sam striped the TB bolt(not his fault by any means) so it wouldnt go up into the crossmember but luckly he had his old ones. only 1/2destroyed 1 ball joint so i still got 2 spares now though one has a gaping hole in the boot but it will get me home if needed. we had to take the ball joint spacers off cause the tires were towed in so bad it was undriveable so im gonna have to put em on when i put my new CL from Brian(hoohaa) on in a few weeks and get an alignment. all in all good times!! took about 4 hours. got about 3 1/2"-4" in the rear with the JGC coils and 3" up front but the spacers will give me another inch so it will be level and im about 1/2" from the bump stops so thats definately a good thing. the rubicon didnt work out as we thought they would but the JGC are great. he bought em new and there only about a year old. all in all good times....i feel bad cause i did a hole lotta watchin and learnin than actual work. Sam pretty much did everything with his buddy. he also hooked me up with 2 rancho 5000 for the front and his ball joints as mine were pretty much worn out.....so much smoother now. my truck actually rides better than it did before and my alignment does not look affected at all. no problems crusin 4 hours home at 70-75mph. the drive home was smoother and more plesent than the drive up. just gotta give mad props to Sam. i couldnt have done it without him and his buddy esp since the tbars were so stuck in the front theres no way i would have got em out at my house. Sam is a really great guy that helped me out so much. he is startin the install of the D44 and should be done in about a month. his rig already looks good but its gonna be badass when hes done with his SAS. Thanks again sam....i owe you BIG TIME!!!!! he also found out i got 4.6 gears which is great...thought i had 4.3's. and my rear is either locked or someone put more clutches in it b/c they definately spin together so i am off to a great start with the pathmaker im gonna go with either 33x10.5 BFG's or 34 x 10.5 super swampers in a bit. not in too much of a rush cause there gonna be expensive and my tires are fine for now. also gonna rhino line the body upto the pin stripe down the side as Sam did. it looks sweet!!!!! ill have some pics of my truck up tomorrow as well as my tbars with steel plates welded to em. no pics from the install but i got some before and after shots up. next is customize my manic brush guard for my winch mount and mount my winch and remount my lights. need new warn hubs....the ones i got on ebay arent even close! im soooooooo freakin happy right now!!!! Rich
  2. 88 thanks for the correction. i just put sammys lift parts on my truck today....well him and his buddy put em on. i misunderstood sammy when he was tellin me about the tbars......sorry for the bad info.....the tbars are thicker and stronger than stock which helps the front end better than stock ones. also we put the BJ spacers on and ended up takin them off cause they towed my tires in so bad it was undriveable even just up the road to an alignment shop. with them on the steering was SCARY!! we reindexed tb and cranked em but i still got about 1/2 clearance from the bump stops. i was gonna bring the spacers to an alignment shop and tell em to put em on then align her but its not a good idea huh? i got Rough country UCA's and they fit toght against them. also they are maybe 1/2" thick not that much. still a very bad idea huh?? also another edit. the rubicon lift coils didnt work too well. the JGC gave me over 1" more than the rubicon coils so i DO NOT recommend the rubicon coils. they were the rear lift coils from a rubicon for 4" lift maybe that had something to do with it...dunno. sammy has the front 4" lift rubicon coils on his rear and they did a great job. looks good and i think he got 5" or so. endin up gettin about 3-31/2" of lift front and rear. its plenty enough for me to clear the 33x10.5's ill be gettin. thanks for correctin me 88. i hope i didnt steer anyone in the wrong direction. sorry for the bad info i posted. next time ill make sure im better informed
  3. sure its a grindin and not like a vibration rattle? mine was doin kinda the same thing from under the shifter at about 3K and it was just the heat shield around the exhaust rattlin. nothin a wrench and a BFH didnt fix
  4. i got ya 88. i was just tryin to explain to the original poster that you cant just luft these trucks and throw some bigass tires on em. theres a lot more to be worried about. i guess you would only be in danger of overextendin axles if you go with super low bump stops huh?
  5. im doin the PML this weekend. go with the FRONT JGC coils in the rear(unless your lucky like me and score a set of 4" lift rubicon rear coils with pig tails cut for $30) and crank the tbar a bit. you will get about 2-3" in the rear dependin if you have 4dr and tire carrier on back. 2" is the safe bet for the front unless you replace your UCA's and put some 1/2"-1" ball joint spacers in then you could probably get 3" safely all around but you will most likely have to reindex your TBARS(easy takes 30 min). if you plan on gettin bigger tires or wheel it a lot you NEED a new CL. your steering is weak as @!*%(as is mine i have a 92 4dr SE). hoohaa makes a CL and im gettin one from him. they are $225. also you will want to get a idler arm brace about $30. i will be getin about 4" from my lift but im replacin my tbars(Sway Aways) with longer/stronger ones and reindexin them, my UCA from Rough Country, BJ spacers(Automotive Customizers, new shocks all the way around(RS 5000 are good but im probably goin with 8000 on my rig) and new CL from hoohaa and idler arm brace from AC. i will be loosin my sway bars but i wouldnt recommend it if your shock are shot like skrill said. like i said the stock steering CL sucks in the WD21. i will carry all new steering parts as trail spares when i go wheelin whick is a good idea for anyone with these pathys....unless you are SASed... after crankin the torsion bars you WILL need an alignment....also if you replace your CL after you lift it and get an alignment you WILL need another alignment......hope this helped you out.
  6. also do not offset your rims too much esp with 13.5" wide tires. you will trash your axles. i wouldnt run anything bigger than a 12.5 but would keep it safe and do b/t 10.5" and 12". if you want big wide tires with offset rims you need a lot more than a lift or else your just gonna be breakin things every trail run
  7. i know of someone who was tuckin 33x12.5 under a 95 pathy with the stock rims and a 4"SL but it rubbed like a SOB. he didnt recommend wheelin with them tho. after i do my 4" SL(new UCA with BJ spacers, TB, Rubicon lift coils in rear) i am going to run 33x10.5 on stock rims and should be ok after a bit of fender trimmin which is ok with me and NEW CL!!!!!! a new CL is cridical if you are goin any bigger than stock and plan on wheelin it and even so i will have pretty much an entire steering system as spares in my rig when i wheel her. hoohaa is gettin me one in a few weeks and AFTER i install that i will be upgradin my tires. till then gonna ride on the 31x10.5. and right after i get the lift, steering, tires on an alignment is necessary!!
  8. ok so my name is Rich and i live in norfolk, VA. i just recently got a 92 fully loaded (se i believe) pathy WITH rear lockers from a kid who thought the engine was gone when it only needed a starter and tstat. so i picked it up for $500 and spent another $100 on parts. pretty sweet deal. ive been wheelin the pathmaker for bout 4 months and it does great. only got stuck once in a set of ruts made for no smaller than 35"tires. anyways im doin the PML with the cherokee coils this weekend to get 3" outta it. got some steering things as well as ball joint spacers. goin cheap cause i plan on goin SAS in 1-2 years. gonna trim the fenders and hopefully tuck 33x10.5 under her. im here to help people as well as receive help. i have been on RONIN wheelers for a few weeks and those guys really helped me out . a few people told me about this site so here i am. i will have some action photos of the pathmaker this weekend before the lift im goin to run my trail one more time stock well i do have 31x10.5 mud kings on her. i have been workin on trucks for about 14 years but this is my first IFS truck. please bear with my stupid questions but anything i do to the pathmaker i wana do right. well thats all for now and look foward to swappin some messages with you folks Rich
