  1. The manual I have says Dexron 2 - but yeah, it's an auto. I forgot to mention - I also have an External transmission cooler (20,000 GVW) to install from Flex-A-Light.
  2. Saturday, after my classes, my truck is getting some work done on it. I currently have Spark Plugs Spark Plug Wires Transmission Filter Transmission Pan Gasket External Transmission Cooler - 20,000 GVW What I need: Information Transmission Fluid I intend to drain and refill the transmission with cheap tranny fluid and run it a little to flush out as much @!*% as I can. Then I'll fill it with good, high-quality fluid. Problem is... I don't recall WHAT kind of fluid we need... and the search function refuses to work at all. Was it GL-4 or GL-5? I know one eats brass, the other doesn't. Anyway, case in point: I'm thinking of going with Royal Purple or something akin to that - any suggestions on Transmission Fluid? Also, is there anything in particular I need to know before I dive into this? I have a Haynes manual, but I know not to depend on that 100%. What tools will I need to do the plugs besides a ratchet+socket and extensions? What tools do I need for the transmission pan and fluid change beyond sockets and wrenches and the obvious rag and catch pan? Will I need to lift the vehicle considering I am running at stock height? I don't know if my belly will fit under it (yes, I have a bit of a gut, shut up ) but yeah. Is there any good way to get ALL 9 quarts of tranny fluid out (t-case and t-converter included)? Or is it best just to drain what I can, re-fill, run, re-drain, and refill? Do I need to do anything special to the gasket for the tranny pan? Should/could I use breaker fluid to get the tranny-pan bolts out? Anything else I'm missing? Thanks yall! Friday I get my hair cut so it's not in my face, then Saturday, I take the dive!
  3. MyPath, didn't you do a write up on this? My current headlights, even with high quality bulbs, suck... so dim and the dispersion pattern just sucks. Can you give some suggestions on new parts? I've been looking around... but dont' see anything that seems to fit the mounts for a '90 pathy
  4. Dude... I'd so pay for a set of those 0o' You willing?
  5. Hm... I'll have to look into it.
  6. I want a set of those Flares for my '90 o0' how much would you want to fab me up a set?
  7. Lol, you laugh - I didn't when it decided to leave us stranded 5 miles from her home... wasn't till she got out to use a payphone that the truck started up 0o'
  8. *shrugs* I know my truck has a personality... she actually hated a previous girlfriend of mine, to the point that my truck would REFUSE to start when she was sitting in it... it was weird!
  9. Not sure what hose you are talking about - you got a pic by chance?
  10. Problem - the stutter is gone, no CEL, and all is well and I haven't DONE anything yet 0o'
  11. I don't think I trust them to be quality parts... Why...? From their Q&A Q: What about water running through the louvers and onto my engine? A: No problem. Water doesn't hurt your engine. After all, many car enthusiasts wash their engines many times each year. As explained in the directions, you don't want water to get on a distributor – but most vehicles built in the past 15 years don't have a distributor. If you do, and if it's a V8, the louvers will be outboard of that, so no problem. Also consider the alternator – but the louvers are usually far enough behind that not to matter. Otherwise the instructions provided explain how to make a rain diverter. Buh?
  12. Is there any reason to or not to do so? Only thing I can think of is water getting into the bay... would cold water hitting the outside of the block cause a problem?
  13. As the topic says... would introducing cooler, outside air into the engine bay help engine performance at all by cooling the air entering the airbox? Just curious as I plan to do a snorkle at some point... and I know the cold air it takes in helps a bit.
  14. And today I had even BETTER luck at Advance Auto! Got 10% off NGK Resistor Spark plug wires (70 bucks instead of 85 after tax)... AND I found $20 on the floor in the store which, after talking to several customers nearby, nobody claimed. $20+$20 gift card = $30 spark plug wires Also have a 15,000 GVW tranny cooler and a tranny filter replace kit for another $50 total So basically a decent tune up for all of $100 If that doesn't fix it (plugs n wires) not a big deal - a new Fuel Pressure Regulator is all of $50 there... and if the plugs and wires aren't it, that's likely the culprit according to my mechanic + from what I can gather reading up and suggestions here
  15. Remember Mate - Pathfinders are ALIVE. They aren't your average vehicle
  16. Welp, thanks to the weather moving in tomorrow morning (Sleet, Freezing Rain, and snow starting at 9am Tuesday Morning and lasting till late Wed. Night) the truck is NOT going into the shop tonight. However, I do have good news. FREE UPGRADE! I brought my AutoLight plugs back to Advanced Auto Parts, and mentioned I was looking for NGK Iridiums... and was able to return the autolights in exchange for 6 of their NGK Iridiums Woot for small favors
  17. Good to hear mate! Now just train your dog to bite his tires out
  18. Even if you do that, you better sure it up somehow... that metal will have lost it's strength... Look on the bright side - most vehicles would have totaled their undercarriage in something like this...
  19. Same here with the Fuel Mileage... except mine went from around 325 to around 225 Mpg, not Kpg... o0'
  20. Buh? I never took mine off when I did this... could I have damaged the wiring? Maybe that's causing it to stutter? TO THE BAT CAVE!
  21. I see a 170 and a 180 degree stat... summers here can get upwards of 95+ and winters can drop below 0 at times... which should I go for?
  22. I'll be sure to let him know I'm SO &^%*ing glad to hear it could be that silly little hose
  23. Good news - Pathy goes into the shop on the Sixth... Unknown News - He said, based on the new info I gave him (the more detailed description of the stumble/stutter, the RPM range, temperature range, and the decreased fuel mileage) that he thinks it's the fuel pressure regulator... leaking raw fuel into the intake manifold. I do smell an acrid, burning, gassy smell... but it's not a pure-petrol smell - is that the smell of a severely over-rich engine? I'm going to attempt to do the plugs n wires today - it's warm enough (above 40) so I don't have to worry about freezing AND burning my hands
  24. Well... since my Stat is original factor stat (eg, 19 years old soon) yeah, perhaps it's time for a replacement
