  1. http://www.dieselpowermag.com/features/1004dp_diesel_jeep_cj_10a/index.html This should help quite a bit. Tom
  2. WOW, what a project, I guess this gives me a second thought about the Xterra VG33E V-6 swap I was thinking of doing in my 89 Pathfinder. Tom
  3. In Wisconsin, the original owner can apply for a lost title from the DMV, it will then be sent to them and then they can send it to you. Tom
  4. FWIW, this is how I relocated the oil filter on my 2000 Xtera so I didn't have to deal with the skid plate each time I changed it. It looks like it would work the same if not easier on my 89 since I don't have as much junk to deal with on the inner fender. http://computerartscompany.com/RemoteFilter/ Tom
  5. FWIW I noticed that the console in a mid 90's Pathfinder was two pieces screwed together and that the upper part looked like it was about the size of the depression in the stock console in my 89. I took the 90's console apart and cut off the bottom section until it was the correct size and then attached it to my 89 console and now I have cup holders and the entire install only took a couple of hours. Not quite as nice as the OP, but it works for me. Tom
  6. Last question on this topic, can I remove the injectors without taking off the Throttle Body and pushing them out from the bottom like the book recommends? The throttle body looks like a real pain to remove. Tom
  7. I have a 89 Pathfinder with an injector that is leaking quite a bit and was wondering what the advice of the forum would be about either replacing it of having it rebuilt? Also, any suggestions on where I could have this done or where to get a replacement injector? Thanks Tom
  8. Yes I meant the Minneapolis/St Paul area! I drove over to Snelling by the State Fair Park to pick up some tires last night and then had the pleasure of driving back to Wisconsin in the snow mist we had going on. The lights worked great although I did use my under the bumper fog lights in some of the lower areas where the mist got a bit thick. Tom
  9. I just drove home from the Twin Cities last night in the rain and mine worked great, so you really need to get some better bulbs and you will be happy with the clear lenses. Tom
  10. That is strange because I have the opposite opinion, my old stock lights were like driving through a tunnel on a dark night on blacktop back roads. The clear lights do a much better job of distributing the light especially in the ditch. Possibly you should raise yours up a bit until the low beams are where you want them to be and don't worry about the high beams since you turn them off anyway when you meet another vehicle. I did change the bulbs to Sylvania XtraVision before I even installed the lights, compared to the Sylvania SilverStars I had in the old housings, which were about three years old. Try changing the bulbs, just in case the ones that came with the clear headlights are not the best bulbs. I find the clear headlights to be a giant step up from stock, especially the way they throw light along the side of the road as well as on the blacktop. Tom
  11. Once again, I have been using the clear lights for over a month now and the improvement over the stock lights is tremendous, a good improvement for my 89.
  12. In your profile it says 1987 so I expect 1997 was a typo! Tom
  13. Didn't have to do any cutting on my Altima, just take off a cover and pull the filter out. Mine looked like it had never been changed from when the car was new and boy was it dirty! Tom
  14. I put a set in my 89 SE and the improvement in the lighting is quite a bit, not as good as my 2002 Altima, but much better than the stock lights. I feel they look better also, but the improvement in how they handle the light really lights up the road and those pesky deer that keep trying to run out in front of me. Here is a photo of how they look on my Pathfinder! Tom
  15. Is there a way to remove the injectors from the TB on my 89 Pathfinder V6 without taping them out from the bottom of the TB as it says in my factory service manual? Tom
  16. How do I check that out to see which one is leaking if that is the case? Tom
  17. My 89 Pathfinder 5-speed, v6 seems to run perfectly except for when it is at idle. At idle it runs smoothly, but every 5 seconds it will drop the idle for about half a second, then go back to smooth idle again. At speed it seems to run perfectly, no missing, no hesitation, just smooth running at any speed. Any ideas, I have checked the vacuum hoses, put in fuel system cleaner and everything seems to be in order and can not figure it out. Tom
  18. I actually got the injector from a junk yard for $15 and it worked just fine although a new one is quite a bit more expensive I understand. Don't you just love the bug, it even makes me want to smack it every once and a while. Tom
  19. I put some 93 buckets in my 87 and they fit just fine. Too bad you are so far away, I have some extremely nice SE seats from a 88 that I want to sell. Tom
  20. That happened to my 87 Pathfinder and it was one of the injectors that would barf out gas for a while and then just quit and run just fine. I tried to clean it but to luck so I replaced it and all was good! Tom
  21. The Idle Pulley for the fan belt is making quite a bit of noise and I want to know if I have to replace the entire pulley or can I press a new bearing into the old one? Tom
  22. Well it is back together, although I need to jack up the torsion bars since it is too low for my tastes now. I will do that on my 4 point hoist tomorrow, since with the wheels down it is very easy to do. It shifts much better now, smoother and of course is very quiet, so I guess it will be just fine and I have the peace of mind that everything actually is new although the parts I took out could have passed for new. Tom
  23. I purchased the clutch kit from Redrooster Auto Parts in Minneapolis, guaranteed for life for $190 and drove it back to Wisconsin. Finally got together with a friend and decided to swap out the throwout bearing today along with everything else in the kit. The bearing has been howling for a couple of weeks now each time I push in the clutch, so I start it up for the two mile drive over to use my friends two post hoist. Bearing starts to howl, then seems to quiet down, then by the time I get to the garage--You guessed it, NO MORE NOISE! I finally decide my 89 is just playing with me and just doesn't trust me to take it apart, so I dig into the project just to tick it off. First, I forget how to properly take off the torsion bars, and spend half an hour dealing with the left one before I get it off. I finally remember how to do it and the right side takes about five minutes. Next the exhaust-just the right side and left connector along with the two cross members, all are now on the floor. Finally all those pesky bolt holding the transmission/transfer case to the motor and down it goes to the floor. I find that the original??? throwout bearing is now quiet, but a bit sticky, the clutch looks great along with the pressure plate and the flywheel is perfect with no marks at all on it. Hey it is apart, so everything goes including the center bushing and all the new parts get bolted on. I then clean up all the parts on the floor (glad I bought the 89 in California last fall, so no rust on anything) and start putting everything back together. First the transmission goes up and just slips in perfectly now that I took off the 4x4 shift lever. The exhaust pipe is another story, what a pain in the A$$ that was and speaking of that, how do you get the starter off the 89 V6? It looks impossible even when the transmission is not there. After the exhaust, everything went well and it is now back together except for the torsion bars, which I will do tomorrow morning. What a fun was to spend a beautiful fall day!! Tom
  24. Anyone have a link to the instructions for replacing the tranny, I can't find my factory repair manual anywhere? Tom
