  1. last summer i solved this with replacing Z rods at back(stabilizers), and lot of grease for front and back shaft. now noise and feeling is minimum.
  2. Dear friends, my muffler in middle is rusted. I cant find direct replacement for original one. I wonder if i use two seperate flow through type cylindrical muffler for each bank of cylinder, will it cause noise? I dont want any drone inside car. Original is quite even it has a hole on it. Rear muffler is original and it it ok. Any suggestions and information? Thank you in advance.
  3. my reply is little late, thank you for detailed diagnosis methods. in last winter no time to deal with those, i think i will concentrate on fixing something on my car now. another observation is, in these days, when it is slow and turning to left or right, it feels like back of car sways on corners.
  4. i appreciate DIY work here thank you for sharing. i would like to ask something about clunk noise i hear or feel at back during shifting up or down. it makes clunk when it accelerates and while shifting 1st to 2nd slowly(decending a hill on tarmac). we replaced back 4 big bushings, it is smoother but still there. also for few months it started to make clunks or clanks, when i try to kick gear down 4th to 3rd or 3rd to 2nd. what can be the reason? also there is same clunk when decending on OverDrive on, when i let it go off and it makes a faint "clunk" again. made diff inspected nothing is wrong with it. also it shifts up or down correctly. no vibration or no sound different than clunks.
  5. as i observe, hood is different. so you need to replace front grill headlights and hood all together. agian it is same for infiniti qx4. all are different.
  6. how about handling and braking? did they make and difference?
  7. pathfinders sold here were equipped with 265/65/15 tires by nissan... as described above even it is not climbing, it requires to light your foot to make it shift. It is completely normal. Fitting larger and heavier tires are causing more friction on surface. Acceleration is worse, fuel consumption is higher but handling and braking is better. Actually i am thinking to switch to 255 or 245 from 265 now.
  8. dear friends, i replaced my control arms with aftermarket ones, because, nissan costs twice... but what i bought was taiwan made and now turning radius is tighter, which means control arms are slightly shorter, but worst thing is, when you try to turn deep, for example in a parking lot, these cause grinding noise... well.. waiting for them to be getting older. and i will buy original ones.
  9. as i know there is no clear lens type headlights for 99 or bofore pathies. these are all glass with texture on it. why you think so is, old ones are getting hazy. i replaced mines with new originals they are looking like clear type and . but same as older ones. ordinary sealed type glass lenses. now illumination is better, and there is significant imporvement.
  10. it is located in front of car back of front bumper.
  11. thank you for information, nice imporvement indeed... it worths.
  12. How did you achieve that performance improvement? i wish to buy one of those new pathfinder when they are sold as second hand .. these cars are sold with very expensive price tags here, such as 74000 Euros, but 2005 make, second hads are now around 40000 euros..Still so expensive.
  13. actually its is not so easy to tell you about an economy figure, but, it is obvious that there will be less resistance for air to be sucked by negative pressure created by engine. So you can expect low end power increase in %1 for such engine. What you will realize is you will be climbing hills much easier(low end torque) Without other mods its not logical to expect lots of HP gains. Actually we need a nice exhaust modifications. On nissan engine used in pathfinder, i maen vg33 ofcourse not vgg35, air intake is small, filter is so restrictive(same filter with 2.0 liter engine), also exhaust pipes coming out from middle muffler are tighter than two pipes coming in to muffler in total.

    Hello

thank you guys. may be you saw my car on another forum pages. my car is a part of batch production which targets canadian market. there are some french words everywhere with english descriptions. Everything is in Miles and Fahreneits on dashboard. (mmm... "miles and fahreneits" nice PUB name ) between 1996 to 2001, nissan sold PF here in Turkey, including model with 3.5 liters 240 hp vg35 engine. But they stopped selling them at the end of 2001. what a shame... They are now back with new pathfinder in diesel engine... But this useless strategy made older pathfinders undervalued, lacking of trims and other accessories on bodywork such as tail lights, spare bumpers etc. What i can find as parts are made of taiwan TYC branded. Only mechanical parts are nissan branded. Also we have QX4 infinity, they are in a worse situation, no bodywok parts etc... Also as a note, we have previous models,1991 to 1995 which are both 4 door or 2 door diesel or vg30 gasoline engine. These cars hardly find buyers thesedays.
  15. as you realize on our cars, engine is running hot, and when stopped hood is very warm. Because of its design and placement, original filter sucks hot air all time. wether it is cold air intake or not. also original filter is same as 2.0 liters nissan sedan (called as Primera GT here) I do not understand how 2 liter engine and 3.3 liter engine can suck same air. I mean flow rates of air must be different. So filter and the diameter for intake pipes must be wider. As you check on BMW cars (i know them well), filter is insulated verywell and sucks cold air from outside, you can see opening on bumber, first off all we should replicate such thing.(for a 4x4, it is not logical to place intake in bumper but, it can suck air over hood grills in front of windshield) Here is a suggestion to see if a cold intake investment worth.. Remove filter cap and paper filter, run engine on a clean place, for example in a parking lot. Try to differentiate the low end power of you engine. But i do not suggest you to run without a filter on daily basis, this fills oil with dust and in worst case, particles in dust can scratch your cylinders.
  16. well, i know sound is coming from back, and i know auto tranny works fine, so i do not care what he tells me about diff and shaft. related to bushings.. i only replaced 4 major bushigs on lower arms which holds axle there.Actually there are 10 bushing in total to replace when car is getting serviced. Upper small arms are still old. Reason was there were no replacement bushings at that time. Can 4 pieces of small bushings cause such clunks? Thump noise can be reduced but clunk seems somethign different for me. I think i am going mad. I already changed the diff oil when bushings were replaced, and old one was ok. now nothing is different.
  17. let me ask something. is there any cabin filter on our cars? I checked and couldn't find it. if there is, it is very normal to have a bad odor.(mine has too) But there is a possibility that leak of antifreeze inside cabin under dash can cause similar effect.(easy to understand - if it looses antifreeze and no white smoke at exhaust)
  18. Helleo again. I d like to share an information, In most of european countries, nissan is no longer selling gasoline pathfinders. All are with modern diesel engines. It is 4 cylinders engine, and outputs 174 hp 403 nm at low revs. Let me add a link about pathfinder in my language. Its not hard to find specifications on left. Click to menu ,number 2. Its consumption is around (if i calculated correctly) 30 mpg. ~ 10 liters diesel per 100 km(in average) http://www.yenipathfinder.com/ (official Turkish site of pathfinder)
  19. i am always eager to solve my problems own by own. When i visit the service guy, i was under the car too, we checked joints, seemed ok, but what to check? may be i tend to ignore some problems under car, i am not sure. Let me tell you about what i observe. When i try to turn shaft by my hand, it makes a metallic sound of loose thing at back of shaft, there were no noise at front of shaft. most probably the inside of LSD. But it may not be right inside of LSD, may be it is the just point that shafts enters to diff. than LSD guy, drove the car and told me that nothing was wrong with diff becuase, if there were a problem inside diff, it should be making a thump or similar sound each time i apply torque by reving the engine under load. What to check on joints? run out? What is run our anyway? I have pathfinder service manual downloaded from nisan oficial site, it says that i need to remove joints and turn it 180 degree and fit it as usual(if it exceeds runout limts). Any comments on this? Or any other ideas to solve this thump feeling and clunk noise. What i realize is, when weather is hot , this feeling is less evident. But clunks are still there.

    Hello

Guys, thanks for your warm welcome. I am glad to find you. I'd like to show my car here. Who holds my Rc sailplane is my fionse. I took the shot. We were in a cornfield for a calm flight. I like the dirty look of a 4x4. These are not like escalades or something designed for road usage. Cheers
  21. dear friends, as a newcomer i salute you once more. I own this 99 pathfinder automatic for 1.5 year. It is 115000 miles. it is properly serviced, and i replaced shocks, front and reas suspension element (bushings at rear axle). when i try to accelerate slowly, while shifting 1st to 2nd, it is little bi t harsh. This is because of auto tranny is getting older. Its ok for me i can live with it, but.. Most of the times, this harsh shifting cause a thump/clunk sound at back. I replaced worn bushings and car handles better and comfort level increased and thump feeling is less. But it is still evident. Also when i am cruising around 40 miles, and when i let the car flow on road by its own momentum, and when i step on the gas slowly, it makes a thump/clunk even it is a higher gear on tranny. Also sometimes i hear clunk noise very similar to shaft joint caused noise. I went to several repairmen, one of them is a pro on transmission and LSD, other was good on shafts. none of them told me that parts were wrong and suggested me to replace bushigns at back first because as we experienced together with them, wheels were moving back and forth too much and this amplified the thump noisefeeling. now, it is faint but same issue continues. Any help is highly appreciated.
  22. Hello friends, i am living in Turkey and i own 1999 make pathfinder SE auto. I am an industrial engineer. Best reagrds to all.
