  1. Actually, it's really simple. It's a 3.1 gallon reserve, mostly so that if you were to park your car on a hill when it's on E and then try and start it, it will. Otherwise, you might be parked up or down hill (IDK where the fuel pump intakes on the tank) and it wouldn't start. If I remember correctly, you can damage injectors if you run a tank dry. Ford tends to do the same thing, at least they did in the 80's with their trucks.
  2. Nah man, ignore what they say, it looks sweet! It'd look just as good in mine! Course, we got the same rig practically. If the leather on my steering wheel wasn't so pristine I'd do the same. As for all y'all... It don't matter if you like your ride detailed and pretty. It only matters that you're not afraid to get it DIRTY! Mines a DD, so I like it clean so it doesn't get my slacks and dress shirts all messed up. However, I have to resist the urge of slapping people who are too afraid to take their rigs off road or worse... buy a real 4WD machine and then slam it with 24's.
  3. My $0.02: take silly putty (or something like it) and put a good sized piece on where it looks like the least distance. Slam the hood and then find out how much space there is between the hood and the intake. Easiest way I can think of without tearing stuff out.
  4. Damn. I'm perplexed since I know <0 about diesels in real world application. But if you get fed up with it and want to import it to USA, just let me know! We need a new thread. "How to get a 3.2L Diesel TDI in the USA."
  5. Crazy. I was pissed when I fueled up for 2.77 (it was 2.73 across the street and the place advertised 2.71, the CASH price, bastards) and I live in San Diego, which is usually the 2nd most expensive place in the country to buy gas. But do what I do to beat gas prices. Married into a AAA credit card that gets 5% cash back on all gas purchases.
  6. Honestly, I say get the 91 Q pistons and have that good machine shop you find put the indents for the valve clearance and find a cheap pair of DETT rods and have yourself a merry little VG34! You're already down to the block. Go the extra inch. Put in a new cam and port your heads and you're looking at 240+ hp (give or take)
  7. Crap. Looks like we should start a baja club! I've done a little bit of sand running down there. FUN! Now that I got the wife used to offroading and got the QX ready to go, I think it's time.
  8. There's a guy donig a front axel swap to an Xterra over at nicoclub.com. It looks pretty badass
  9. But what about spacing/alignment? Did nissan keep everything consistent on placement throughout the years regardless of frame? I wouldn't be so concerned if I could do the work myself. My crappy condo complex doesn't allow "maintenance or repair" on vehicles. Not worth the fines and hassle so I have to actually pay someone to do it and I don't want them to get in there and then tell me "oh, it won't fit. You owe me $500 for labor." Damnit I want a garage!
  10. Ok, I've been looking for headers for my 99.5 QX4 (pathfinder) and I'm not finding any. I heard of someone with an older pathy (WD21 frame) putting headers on a VG33E that they installed in their ride. Can I use the same headers or does the frame setup matter that much? I've had my R50 for a couple of years but haven't done any real work on it myself (only because I don't have a garage of my own) and now live in condo where I'm not "supposed" to do mechanical work on my cars. Anyway, I digress. Need/want headers and can't find any for the R50 of my year. Is ebay my only option?
  11. That's a pisser. Yeah, I love trees too. That's why I wanted to switch to biodiesel. Stupid hippies. I could get that law changed, it's not really hard. It just takes a hell of a lot of effort. Well, maybe I'll do the hybrid conversion. It's only $25K. But, maybe it'll be cheaper by the time I can afford it!
  12. Ooooooh! Tell me more! Tell me more! Will that diesel fit in the 99 QX4's? How much whp can you/could you get and what's acceleration like? And can it run on biodiesel?
  13. That's sick you can switch between either fuel! Sucky about the loss of acceleration, but somethings can't be helped. At least not with some major modification.
  14. I've seen trucks made up to run on LPG. Guy had a huge frickin tank. It was an old dodge, but I think the guy had a 1500-2000 mile range with the damn thing. But more importantly, UPDATE ON THE CAM!! I want to know how much extra horsepower you got out of it. I'm doing that in the next few months and want to see how much bang I'm going to get for my buck.
  15. Finally sauntered my way over here from NICO. Can't wait to mine all the modding fun already located here! :tonguefinger:
