  1. @Mrelcocko I have this, but only notice it when slowing down between 12-18 mph. I replaced the lower control arm bushings with poly bushings but skipped the upper trailing arms as I ran out of time that night (those old bushings are a b***h to remove haha). Would the horseback riding stop with the replacing of the upper trailing arm bushings?
  2. Daytime running lights. They are actually your high beams at half brightness that come on when the headlight switch is off.
  3. TrailMaster TM5-5883 Here's the link: https://www.4wheelparts.ca/Wheels/Trail-Master-TM5-15x8-Wheel-with-6-on-5-5-Bolt-Pattern-Gloss-Black-TM5-5883.aspx?t_c=11&t_s=535&t_pt=101508&t_pn=T%2fMTM5-5883
  4. I bought my Pathy and it had the same problem, It turned out to be the distributor bearing going bad and eventually seizing.
  5. Hey all, Did some Google searching and found this link! https://cardiagn.com/nissan/
  6. UPDATE: I noticed that my radiator had a small crack in the top, plus about a third of the neck where the upper rad hose connects to was broken off. A new rad was put in but it didn't do anything for the coolant temp gauge. I didn't have time to go to the local pick-a-part the other day, but i did a continuity test as directed in the FSM. I didn't get continuity, but figured it might be because the probe wasn't making contact properly inside the harness, so i shoved it in deeper. Doing that either cleaned or opened the connection enough for the wires to make contact with the sensor, because the gauge is working properly now lol At least my entire coolant system is upgraded haha! Thanks for the suggestions guys! -Dennis
  7. Thanks for the help Slartibartfast! I am heading to the local pick-a-part to pick up a new instrument panel
  8. Mine only has the 1-wire in that location, whereas my 93 has both together. Not sure where the other one would be? However, I checked the sensor with my multimeter, and its reading correctly.
  9. Hi all, About a month ago, the coolant gauge in my 99 Pathy started acting weird. Examples include jumping to running temperature at startup, dropping to cold, spiking to hot before settling at running temp. One day on my way home from work it started at running temp (after sitting for 8 hours), spiked to hot about 3 minutes into my drive, dropped to cold 2 minutes later, rose to running temp like normal, then spiked to hot again just before i got home. Just this last week it has started to be somewhat normal except for spiking to hot and staying there about 5 minutes into my drive. Replacing the sensor located at the upper rad hose didn't do anything to fix the problem (maybe that's the wrong sensor?). A mechanic friend suggested it could be the thermostat not opening properly so we replaced that as well. Still no change. After doing a bit of research i can only come up with a few things that might be the problem: - bad replacement sensor - plugged radiator - sensor grounding out - water pump is on its way out. Any one have any idea whats going on, or have had this before? Any input on how to proceed is much appreciated. Cheers, DN
  10. Update: SHE'S ALL FIXED UP!! Replaced the distributor, and now she's purring like she should All she needs now is a battery that holds power and I have a 'brand new' Pathfinder that i purchased for $600!!!
  11. Update: We set the engine at TDC, took the dizzy cap off and the rotor was pointed at cylinder 3. Pulled the dizzy out, rotated it so it was at cylinder 1 and put it back in. Engine was now turning over fine but wouldnt catch. Pulled a couple spark plugs to check for spark, nothing. Spark plugs looked burnt out so we replaced them, and we had spark again! But it still wouldnt catch. Next, we pulled the cap off and checked the rotor again. Somehow it was pointing at cylinder 3 again, so the decision was made to pull the dizzy once again. Good thing we did, because it was seized and the balls from the bearing were rattling around inside! I rechecked my text messages with the previous owner, and I must have overlooked it when he said he only replaced the cap and not the entire distributor. So off to the auto parts store for a new dizzy! I will update again once Ive replaced it! Cheers! D.N.
  12. Thanks all! I think I found the problem! I took the dizzy cap off, and the rotor was firing at cylinder 1 and the engine is not at TDC. A friend coming over tonight with a timing light so we can double check, so I will update then.
  13. Ah that kind of scan tool. No, I don't have access to one of those.
  14. Yes, I used a scanner and got P0300 (multiple cylinder misfire) and P0325 (knock sensor) codes.
  15. Hi all, I am hoping I could get some suggestions on what is making my Pathy run rough. I just recently bought it off a guy who replaced the following himself (he says before it began to run this bad): Spark plugs Spark wires Distributer Fuel Pump Timing belt done 60,000kms ago in a shop. When i bought it, it didn't start due to a dead battery. Once I brought it home, I swapped the battery from my current Pathy to hopefully get it to start. It did, but ran rough, misfired a lot, bogged down and ended up stalling. Exhaust fumes smelled rich. I tried this a few times before I gave up, hoping I didn't do any damage. The CEL was not on, but I checked to see if there were any codes, and it came up with P0300 and P0325. Kind of expected, I guess. Any one have a clue as to what might be wrong? Thanks! D.N.
  16. Hey all! I'm glad to have joined NPORA! My first Pathfinder was a 1993 XE, which I bought for weekend excursions down forestry service roads. However, I had an accident with my daily driver so "Patty" became my new daily, and I loved it. I couldn't go back to driving a car anymore, just didn't feel right. I would have loved to restore her if it wasn't for the badly rusted frame. Once I fixed up and sold the car, I was on the lookout for another Pathy and came across a 99 Chilkoot. With a perfect frame, body, and interior, it seemed like the perfect replacement. The only thing is, it doesn't start haha! It cranks, but doesn't catch. So my first project is to get it running. That's where I'm sitting right now! Clearly, the new Pathy needs a new name, any suggestions? Cheers, D.N.
