  1. hey i need to replace one of the outside allen bolt on my intake header. the header sits in between the two heads. the heads have two studs that go into the intake and are held in place by nuts. on the outside of the intake there are 4 allen bolts one on each corner. these are screwed into the heads to hold the intake in place. i broke on of the bolt and i need to know if any one knows the size of the bolt. since i'm going to order in some bolts for the exhaust i wanted to change these out as well. hope this is abit more clear. i'll post a pic tomorrow. thanks in advance for any info.

  3. It's good to know that this could happen to any one...i made that mistake my self and i took me a month to find the parts with out spending some crazy coin... BTW are the piston flat? B/C mine have little dent that look like it could be from when the valves and pistons kissing?
  4. i'm assuming it's the NA 300zx, nad not the turbo one.. right? also can't i just reuse the washers?
  5. removing the air box accualy reduces the amount of air that gose into the intake. at least it did on VW... i remember reading a post on were we ran a flow test... but again it's a diffrent car.
  6. y u asking for the 300z? do the studs for the 300z fit the pathy?
  7. use a screwdriver to hold the camshafts in place i broke the bolt when the t-belt was still on. and make sure you tourqe the bolt back in you son't want the same mistake as i did.
  8. hi i know i'll get flamed for this but i did search and can't find any info on buying exhaust studs for my 90 pathy. i was replacing my heads and now it's sitting again b/c i'm not sure if i finish putting everything back on that i'll be able to but the studs in. any advice would be great.
  9. I see maybe it was the way it looked while i was looking online. thanks for all the help and the info.
  10. so the pointy teeth one are for the chain t-belts then. as for the cam gears. let me know how much shipping will cost to 96819 b/c i'll take them now i just have to find some cams..
  11. btw what is the diffrence between the pointy teeth cam gear and the squar ones. other then the teeth. and could i use the other gears if i change the cams????
  12. I'll take a look at the valves just in case but she started no problem it's only when i gave her gas i think the cam pulleys broke b/c i didn't toruqed them right. i'm hopeing nothing happened since u wasn't driving but yoou never know
  13. willing to part if them by any chance? if the price is right?
  14. no i dont think they are interchangeable. they are clearly marked r/l and i need both left and right. they are square teeth.
  15. ok after taking a closer look at the carnage of my what happened i destroyed the cam gears and the cams. so now i need to pick up new one. can some one point me to a online store were i could buy then. thanks
  16. the belt has markings but they don't line up so i marked the belt my self.. but i don't know if it slipped a tooth or the timing is really messed.which meant all three marking might not line up.
  17. well i took the top cover off and one off my cam gears weren't tourged right. so now i have to redone the job. my only concern is how do i set teh TDC again since i'm sure the timing is off. the cam gears should be no problem since i just line them up with there respected marks but what about the oil pump pully. b/c it takes two rotations to equal one of teh cam rotation. or is that pully connected to the dizzy? so i just have to set the dizzy to the number 1 position? as for the throttel i was cleaning out the TB b/c there was carbon on it so i'm guessing it just got stuck
  18. i looked in my 90 pathy and there is a small knob that turns from ideal adjust to diagnostic mode. so i turn the truck in the on position then turn the knob to the diadnostic mode i get the red and green flashing lights but then when i turn it back to the ideal adjust it just stays on. i waited several minutes to see if it would flask but nothing. any ideas?
  19. this might sound dum but how do you run the codes??
  20. maybe the cam gear wasn't tourged right..but why would my throudel be stuck. i really had to push it down to get a respone..
  21. well the alarm turned off when i started the truck but that the least of my problem now
  22. well i finished doing my timing belt up everything back together then started the truck and let it idel for 2 min to get the coolent flowing so i can top it of. i jumped in to rev the engine a bit and all of a sudden she dieing and then dies. i crank her once ti she if she starts and nothing. so now i'm stumped as to what happened. i'm thinking belt valves but wouldn't that happen when she wa ideling? i didn't hear any loud bangs. could i have messed the timing just a bit when i was taking out the cam gear that it didn't belt till i reved it? any one has any ideas i'm going to redo the timing again but i wanted to kow if there is a way to center all the timing if it's the belt? i've done timing belt 4 times before with out any problem but this is the first that this happened to me.. just for reference i lined up the pully markings, dizzy with the number one and the two cams with there respecful markings ( little indents with the dot on the back cover.) can some one give me some input.. i'll let you guys know whats happening when i take everything off ans look at the timing belt? thanks in advance for all input
  23. i'm not sure if it's a stock alarm. i don't have a security button on my dash but i'll take a closer look in the cabin.. i'll try disconnecting the security box under the seat. thanks for all the help.
  24. i drove up to my work place today to do my t-belt since i don't have a garage... iot was nice so i had all the windows down, then by the end of the day it started raining so i quickly connected the negative terminal and went to close the windows.. but an alarm started going off. i noticed the horn in the engine compartent up i figured it did work since i never heared it before. i tryed playing around with the alarm to see if it would turn off when i open the doors with the key but nothing... i questions is what should i do? i was thinking of just cutting the horn but if this alarm is attached to the starter then i'm FUBARed. any one have any ideas?
  25. every car is subjest to this problem i noticed this problem with my golf when i had smoke coming out throught the dash. had to getto rig the set up since i had to cut out the resistor after it melted into the plastic. so this was the first thig i do when i buy a car other then replace the t-belt. good to see a write up on this, since every one should be aware of the risk
