  1. My Pathfinder won't idle above 400 - 450 while in neutral, but with the clutch depressed and the trans in any gear, she runs high at 1400. Anyway, the dealership called, and they want $4G's to fix everything on my list, so I told them to button it up and stick it outside I will just come and get it... SUX!
  2. So my `96 is in the Nissan dealership today. The idle issue is now coupled with a throttle position issue, where-by the fuel gets shut off at the "cruise" position. An intermittent issue at best, but when it rears its ugly head, is when I need the gas the most. Since I bought a full drive train warranty I attached a laundry-list of items I need worked on, so hopefully I get my ride back in much better working order... and hopefully the warranty covers most of it No call yet, so I am hoping that no news is good news.
  3. I really like the clear turn lenses in the bumper, do you have a source?
  4. Love the set up on your `97. I have a `96 that should look so good!
  5. This started last week. My `96 will idle at only 400 to 450 RPM's in neutral. It is hard for it to stay running when cold. If I hold the clutch in and put the trans in gear, the idle will jump to 1200+ RPM's and hold... take out of gear, and idle goes back to barely running @ 400+ RPM's Does this sound familiar to anyone? Other than this issue, my Pathfinder runs top notch.
  6. Looking good, luckily, when you do get a chance to do the rear lift, it will not take as long to install.
  7. Thanks, I really like them so far... They are stock 265/70R15 (29" tall)
  8. So far so good, the ride home from the shop was smooth and quiet...
  9. Guess what day it is...? Its tire day! Loaded and headed to the tire store for mount/balance...
  10. Started a search for cold air intakes on 1996, and found JACK!
  11. Thank you Rebelord, I have been looking long and hard at the Gabriel assemblies, to just R&R what I have... that way I could get new springs, and not have to mess with the spring compressor.
  12. So the struts are available as a cartridge unit, with the springs and bearings (if re-useable) being transfered from the unit being replaced. @ 224,000mi what should I expect to replace with regards to the struts? Everything?
  13. Yeah, I know... but I get that 'go-fever' that I just want to get modified now!!! I will probably start with struts, as the front struts seem to be bottoming when I hit a bump or pothole... and I only hit the holes I cannot miss!
  14. So I have about $255 to burn, do I get a mod like the WARN hubs, or work on getting some original equipment items replaced, like the OE shocks and struts...?
  15. Feeling good about the little steps of progress made, I mounted the new badging... Nissan should have done this in the begining (but that is just me...)
  16. I eneded up picking up some Dorman misc. plugs which a perfect fitting plug. The plug on the green card is the one I used.

  18. This is a no start issue which I was faced with recently on my 1996 Pathfinder (manual trans); the engine would not turn over while the clutch was depressed. Relays would 'click' as usual, but there was no starter engagement. Referring to the manuals linked here at the forum, I was able to determine that my no-start issue was mechaical and not electrical. The rubber pad on the clutch pedal that enguages the clutch interlock switch, had dry rotted and disintegrated falling to the floor board in pieces. This left a hole in the plate where the rubber pad was mounted. See the image grab from the tech manual for reference, as the arrow shows the location of the rubber pad. It is early yet, but I plan to hit the auto parts stores to locate a rubber stopper pad today...
  19. Thanks for the manual recommends. They helped me determine the issue... the rubber pad on the clutch pedal disintegrated, so there is no engagement with the clucth interlock switch. The image grab from the manual will help show the issue... The red arrow points to the rubber pad, which is missing from my clutch pedal. I found rubber chucks on the floor board as well.
  20. When I do the swap, I will most definitely go with new springs in the front, but I am undecided on whether to stay the factory height or move her on up. Dealing with a new issue this afternoon... when the clutch is fully depressed, as to start the engine, the relays 'click' but the engine does not turn over... I detest 'no-start' electrical problems... well, truth be said, I hate any electrical problem, but I have a sore spot for electrical issues that leave me stranded in a store parking lot. I got one more start out of the vehicle to get her home, but now nothing!! Ideas on where to look next? The starter operation seemed nomional until now, nothing out of the ordinary prior to...
  21. Just ordered tires for my `96 Pathfinder, the Cooper Discoverer AT3's from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Cooper-Discoverer-Traction-Radial-Tire/dp/B00MXNS2DE
  22. I just ordered my tires from Amazon, these are the 265/70R15 Cooper Discoverer AT3 tires: http://www.amazon.com/Cooper-Discoverer-Traction-Radial-Tire/dp/B00MXNS2DE I will get one of the local tire centers to install them for me next weekend... Looking at getting struts and shocks next... my `96 is bottoming out on the current legs of my suspension, which I suspect is original equipment from 224,000+ miles ago...
  23. A lift for Memorial Day weekend, sweet! Take lots of pics of the change over...before/after etc.
