Has anyone installed HID's in there pathys? I have a 97 with Silver stars and they are great replacement bulbs but I love the look and brightness of HID's and want to do the upgrade. also since we are on the subject of Lighting is there a inexpensive place to purchase the factory fog light lenses for a 97 pathy? I have one that was destroyed by a gravel truck my last trip to the mountains?

I am going to be changing out the front 2 oxegen sensors on my 97 pathy. I have been getting 11-12 MPG and its had a slight hesitation under light throttle, I guess its time after 136,000 miles. I am not getting any codes but in my sentra I used to have I ran into a poor fuel economy issue and drivability issue. I changed the O2 sensor and did a full tune up and it was back to normal. I have done the full tune on the pathy and I am hopeing that the o2 sensors bring mileage back up to a reasonable 15-16 again. I have ordered the sensors Denso Brand. but am wondering if there is an easy way to change them out? It looks pretty cramped in the enging compartment by the sensors, and it looks like the exhaust manifold heat shielding is in the way. Anyone have any tips for this process to make it easier? I ordered only the front 2 sensors because they are the ones that control the Air fuel ratio and the after cat o2 sensors mainly just tell the computer if the cat is working properly or not. Also anyone looking for parts at an inexpensive price check out autohauseaz.com. I have been useing them for my Audi Parts for a few years and its hard to beat there prices.

also If you know somone that works for a car dealership that sells acessories have them price the optima for you. I work for a chevrolet dealership and got my optima redtop for $115.00. It was too good a deal to pass up as as i was going to use a Sears Diehard SUV battery for 140.00 before I found the deal I get @ work.

I also have my CB mounted to the Passenger side of the center console, in front of the passenger seat. Its out of the way of passengers legs. I ran my antena wire under the passenger seat and passenger rear floor mat and up the inside flap of the RR Door weatherstriping and out of the forward top corner of the RR Door. I have my magnetic base ant. mounter on the right side of the roof in front of my yakima roof rack. Its convienient to take off and put up and looks good.

I am a service advisor for a Chevrolet dealership and the description of a small evap leak could be just a bad gas cap. We have several people everyday come in with CEL complaints. 9 times out of 10 its a evap leak and the gas cap isnt secured propperly. I would check to make sure the gas cap is tight and that it clicks when you tighten it. if the light dosent go out after 10-20 starts or about a week I would try replaceing the cap with a new OEM cap and see if that works. BTW do not use locking gas caps as they are not a sealed cap and will trigger an evap leak.

What dose it mean by narrow and wide? I have a fully equipped XE with everything but the rear gate style tire carrier according to a 97 factory broshure. Dose that mean that a LSD Equipped XE pathy like mine with the flairs (wide) (Maybee) have 4.6 gears? I know at 70 MPH I pull about 26-2700 RPM with 31-10.50-15's. Just curious about what gears are in my 97 XE 4x4 pathy!

I run my XM, radar detector and GPS off of the 2 ACC outlets. the one in the dash runs the XM and the other in the back of the center console with a multi splitter. All power to the outlets are off when the key is off. you should be ok with leaving the XM plugged in. just curious where did you mount your XM Reciever? I have mine stuck to the switch blanks below the radio because all I have there is the rear wiper control, and I dont want to drill holes in my dash plastic. But I have to re attach it every 2-3 months because it keeps coming loose. BTW I am useing 3M body trim double sticky back foam tape. does anyone know of a better tape or non permanant adhisive to use?

I used a heat gun. it didnt take as much heat as I was thinking. No more rub.

I just got my Cragar Soft 8, 15x8 Wheels installed and I need to know what to do about the tires rubbing on the front part of the Fender liner? I want to heat the liner and push it forward. is that the thing to do Or is there somthing I am missing? It looks like I just need to go in about 1/4 - 1/2 inch. btw these wheels look awsome on the dark green. What do you guys use to push the liner forward? I am being a puss and dont want to burn my fingers.

When you shift the TCase into 4 wheel without the hubs engaged it Will not go and will make bad crunching noises. ONLY engage 4Wheel with the hubs engaged.

I live in the great northwest and even though it dosent get below zero but every few years, we do see teens and 20's. I have a piece of cardboard beetween the rad and condencer that covers about half the rad. it works well for warning up on thoe cold days. just thought Id chime in.

Well after taking my Yakima basket off the pathy and the bug deflector I averaged 13.5 MPG with this last fill up. About a 1 MPG improvement over having the accessorys on the vehicle. I will say that its alot quieter also. no more wind noise. Now its about to snow in my neck of the woods so It will probably go back down when I lock the warn front hubs so I can use the 4 wheel drive.

My 97 pathy has been doing ok with fuel mileage untel recently when it got below 30 degrees. I had been averageing about 15.5-16.5 all summer and then all of a sudden over the course of 3 tanks of fuel It has dropped to about 12-13 MPG. Is this normal for a pathy in cold weather? or are my O2 Sensors starting to get lazy and run rich? I run mostly freeway miles @ 70 MPH. and nothing has changed in my driving style. BTW Its a 97, 134,000 miles with a K&N air filter, 2.25 exhaust from the y back and 31x 10.50 15's on stock wheels. and yes I have cleaned the MAS and about 4,000 miles ago a complete tune up with Fuel filter, NGK plugs and wires and a factory cap and rotor. I just want to know if this is normal or if there is somthing wrong that I need to get fixed. Thanks in advance

I have a Yakima Rack for my 97 pathy, it attaches to the factory cross bars and I really like the look. I dont however like the added wind noise and 1.5 mpg drop in fuel mileage. So I only use the rack when wheeling, and camping where I need the extra space for fuel and such. If you look on craigslist or other online classifieds you can score good deals. I bought mine from a friend for $200.00, and it retails for over $400.00. If you keep your eye out you can find good deals.

I have recently replaced my pads with factory pads from the dealer. They work well and there is no bad aspects to them. but if you want a more aggressive pad I have had good luck with Hawk SUV pads in the past on my old 99 Tahoe. they were great, good fade resistance and excelent bite. they were a little noisy when cold though, but only the first 2-3 stops. I would highly recomend them.

I had this same problem and it was a varry slight bent wheel. It took 5 ballances to find it. I found a good used wheel at the wrecking yard and all is good now. it would start shimmying about 50 and go away around 73. not all is good and smooth. As for bushings Mine are getting soft. Especialy since I pulled a 20 foot enclosed car hauler a few weeks ago delivering a friends car 150 mile round trip. any vehicle that has over 100,000 miles on factory rubber bushings should have them replaced. mine is a 97 pathy and has 135,000 and was doing ok tell I pulled the trailer it really sofened things up. I guess the 5000 lb tow rating is there for a reason. I think I was pulling near 6000 lbs. I would really check the bushings for wear and use a pry bar to check tie rod end wear and ball joint wear. it can be hard to tell if somthings loose with out useing a little preassuere from a prybar.

on my factory suspended 97 XE with stock 15" steelies and 31 10.50's I get a little rub @ full lock on the inside rear of the unibody. there is a shiny spot on each side where it rubs and its perfectly smooth so nothing to worry about

I live in a non salt state (washington) but they still use de iceer chemicals on the road that can cause corrosion. I take my pathy and all other vehicles through a rigorous thurogh pressure washing of the undercarage at least 6 times durring the winter and have never had corosion problems. I live in a severe sand climate and the body draings can get clogged and not release the water that eventualy builds up so I clean the dody drains and make sure they are open 4 times a year to keep everything clean and dry. if you follow this regimin in any state you will find that you will have less corrosian and rust.

Do you have pics of the bull bar on your 96? I have wanted to get one for my 97 to mount some lighting.

I have had rack bushings Squeek in the past. Not on the pathy but my Step Moms Escape. of course it was out of warranty so we sprayed a liberal amount of silicone grease around the rack bushing area and the squeek went away and has been gone ever since, about 2 years now.

Try replacing the rack bushings before you go replace the rack. I think these will solve your clunking issue.

I work for a chevrolet dealer (I Know), anyway I know that if we have a vehicle come to us for Emmisions warranty work that if the cat has been tampered with (attempted fix of your cat) that it will not be warranted. Nissan may be different and it is worth a shot but I doubt that they will warranty your cat for the attempted repair. just my $.02

I have a question on fuel Mileage with my 97 XE 4x4. I have been getting 14.44 MPG with each fill up for about a month. When I first got the Pathy in may I was getting 15.9. I am just wondering what you guys/gals are getting for mileage and what I can do to improve mine. My 97 has 132,000 miles on it and every record from the dealer from new. it has been well maintained and I am the second owner. I have replaced the Fuel Filter, all fluids installed a K&N air filter, cleaned the maf 3 times With every oil change with CRC MAF Cleaner, replaced the Cap Rotor and most recently the Plugs and wires with factory replacement NGK parts, and installed a Optima Red Top battery. I have replaced the factory sized tires with 31-10.50-15's on the factory wheels and had it aligned and the front wheel bearings repacked when I installed the Warn manual hubs. is this the mileage I can expect from running 31's or is there somthing I can do to get better MPG out of her?
