  1. The knock sensor won't normally trigger the CEL. There's likely another issue. Have you been using 4x4? That could affect your mileage as well..
  2. I had the the noisy lifters problem as well. I read about (and sucessfully tried) the following remedy Buy the cheapest (Walmart or dollar store) 5 quarts of tranny fuuid and oil filter you could find. Also buy your normal oil and filter. Drain the old oil and remove the old filter. Install the new (cheap) filter. Fill the engine with the tranny fluid. Run the engine for 5minutes. DO NOT REV THE ENGINE. Drain the tranny fluid and remove the filter. Refill with your usual oil. I personally did not like the idea of five quarts on tranny fluid in the engine, so I did 3 quarts tranny and 2 quarts oil. That stopped the ticking valves for me. Note well, some do not recommend tranny fluid in the egine for fear that it may loosen too much sludge and thereby clog the lifters even further. You may want to do some more research.
  3. I've done some searching around this and other sites but couldn't come to a definite diagnosis for this problem. I have a '97 Path with 150K miles. I have new Kuhmo tires in the front. They appear to be wearing evenly so far. I recently started getting a pronounced shimmy at around 60 to 70 mph. It is more noticeable when I’m going around a bend on the highway at 60-70 mph or so. I have had the wheels balanced (free lifetime balancing with the tires). I notice that the rubber thing on the inside of the springs on both suspensions are all broken up and sitting at the bottom of the spring chamber. Otherwise, the suspension appears to be in good order (they were replaced around 80k miles). I jacked up the front end and shook both front wheels (as best as I could, I was working alone) and both wheels feel solid. No easy movement in any plane. However with 150k miles on the ball joints etc…who knows. What should I look to replace first? Thanks.
  4. Have you ruled out the heat shield? Might be that rattling....
