  1. I'm not in the Leadville Area however I do find myself going that way quite often camping & wheeling around Mosquito Pass & North London Mine which connects into Leadville & the drive doesn't bother me since we usually travel a ways when we go wheeling. Get in touch with me whenever you are going to be going out wheeling & I will see if I can make it out to join or if you ever find your way over in the Roosevelt National Forrest area & want to go wheeling this way to let me know I live in Loveland.

  2. Have you checked to see if there are any codes be thrown from the diagnostics box which is under the passenger side front seat which it will flash red & green colored lights to determine what code it is. If is reads out a code 55 everything checks out for those tests however ther are quite a few other variations of tests you cas do from the diagnostics box. I would also suggest downloading the FSM for the 1995 Pathfinder which you can download for free in the forums here located in the Garage section of the forums. It can come in quite handy as it is vehicle specific for each year. Also finding other posts here through the search section whicxh you may see others with same issues who have posted & given what the solution was for them & How to fix as well as lots of pictures. There are a great deal of members here who knowquite a bit about these Nissan's & can be a great help with finding causes of issues on our girls. I know for myself without a number of the Members here who have chimed in on my posts with problems on both of my 1995 XE's I may might have still been scratching my head on where to put my attention at to help diagnose the situation so I am very glad to have found NPORA & appreciate every bit of help from everyone here & all the information we are able to access through the forums here as well.

As far as your issue with your temp gauge not working could be a few things there in my experience on my 1995's to fix for me with mine not working was due to a wire on the connectors getting exposed causing it to short out. Which I would start there & follow your connector wires look for any signs of bad wires also check all connectors as well make sure nothing could be causing it to not get a solid connection. Maybe also check the cluster in the dash to make sure something there hasn't gone bad as well as check fuses too. Sorry I don't have a better answer on this for you but I can only speak from my personal experience with similar issue on temp gauge notg working.I am sure there are few more who have experienced this too & will chime in also.

Good luck & keep us posted with it & what was the reason causing your problem & what ended up being able to fix itfor you.

  3. My poor Pathfinder gave up today. The transmission decided on my way home that it was done, luckily I was a block from home and it has been my beast for the 15 years I've owned her. Unfortunately I have no time to rebuild so its time to move on.

I haven't been on here for a while, so I thought I'd just share a sad moment here. I love my Pathy.

Sorry to hear this. I would agree with the others try looking for a good used one to change out with. If you are certain you don't want to do this let me know & I would be interested in seeing what she has left to offer on her. Would hate to see her just go to scrap yard. Let me know also if you decide to give her another chance I would be more then happy to lend a hand as well which I see you are in Colorado as well. What area of the State are you located in?

  4. Definitely a transmission issue. I would look into the troubleshooting steps for the transmission.

Yeah, I am going with transmission issue as well just a rather strange one at that. Certainly going to dig into the trouble shooting steps & tests listed in the fsm in the morning & hope I can come up with something fromthat. Wondering if maybe could be something bad with the gold transmisson control box behind the passanger side paneling in rear of pathfinder? Whatever it may be though I'm sure hoping to figure it out soon been losing out on a lot of extra work with not having her running making it rather tough to be able to make it to some of the jobs. Will keep updated on if I am able to figure something more out about what is causing it to malfuntion.

  5. Update: So finally got her to stay running and at normal idle only to end up with a whole set of new issues. So after got her running and at normal idle howeverwhen i was working my way through the gears while sitting in driveway a rather odd thing went on which was I noticed when I was in reverse it actually started to go forward same when in neutral as well. didn't reaaly notice it grabbing when running through the gears at all when switching in and out of them. So once It started to move forward when in reverse and neutral I shut her down waited a few minutes & started her back up and went through shifting through the gears again which all worked this time except when in neutral she wanted to drive forward again. Shut back down waited few minutes again this time when started up let sit at idle for a moment & now anytime I give her any gas she doesn't do anything but raise rpms no driveability at all in any gear as well as if i try to put her in four wheel drive too doen't do anything acts like she is just stuck in neutral now. Any ideas I am lost without a clue on this one and not even sure where to start on looking for cause and a solution to fix it as well.

  6. You also checked the vacuum hose on the fuel pressure regulator too? It's in the far back near plug since too.

I did check that one out as well and it checked out good also. I am going back out to look at the carbon canister now since I just happened to notice that it seemed to feel a bit loose at bottom of canister as if it was detached or maybe broken from the feel of it but needed to put the led lights on there stands and get them plugged in to get a better look now that it's getting dark out. Will know for sure in just a few.

  7. Alternator would not do that since if it was bad it would be running directly off your battery but still run fine before killing it.

Anyone codes? 02 sensor? Ignition Timing? Vacuum leak? Air intake leak?

No not throwing any codes at all it has only showed code 55 saying there is no malfunction I have been checking all electrical connections to make sure something isn't broken there and all are checking out fine. However when I just tried to start it again a few minutes ago while running before engine stalled out again I did notice a hissing or whistling sound seemed to be coming from the area of the carbon canister or airfilter box but was hard to pin point it's exact location though. I have checked all of the Vacuum hoses which were all recently replaced not long ago & all are intact with no tears or breaks anywhere on them. Mass Air flow sensor has been cleaned. I do however have an extra one which I pulled of my old 95 XE guess maybe wouldn't hurt to replace it just to see if this fixes the issue. Not sure what else could be causing this for me.

  8. SO I recently changed out my shift solenoids in my 95 XE 3.0 Automatic 4x4 Pathfinder along with radiator replacement, changed out front 3 belts & alternator. After all is said & done with on changing everything out out & getting new parts installed and ready to start her up. Once i get her started she ran with high idle & after bout 3 seconds to a minute later idle goes way down and she becomes rather sluggish on me. Go to give her a little gas & doesn't really even rev up much at all while still sluggish then engine just stalls out. Wait for a few minutes to try and start up again she turns over starts and only runs for maybe 25 seconds or so before engine stall again. Same thing again 2 more times after.

Wait til morning since it was getting late that night once I go out to start up in morning turns over and runs a only bout 500 rpms and sounds rough and a bit sluggish again she stays running for bout a minute until i try to give her a little gas and then bogs out and engine stalls. Repeat this a couple of times and each time engine stalls out everytime i try to give her any gas. Also died once without giving any gas and each time she only runs for maybe 2 minutes or so at most before stalls out.

I am thinking maybe bad alternator is the cause of this but i am not for certain though so looking for any input on this to see if i can track down the problem. I have read through a lot of posts but didn't see one that had exactly the same issues as i am having so not sure which route to go on it from here? If anyone can shed some light on this for me it would be greatly appreciated. I'm ready to get her up and running again and back on the road.

  9. I have got only 2 small stickers on mine which are rather small ones as well maybe I am the only one figured I would be the first one for you without a ton of em on there Ride. lol!

Also yes you are right there is an adjustment to be able to tighten the ebrake on these I had same issue on mine as well which had to adjust it from underneith located bout midway or little more towards the rear of the vehicle.

as for what I have done today on my Pathfinder to continue on with the thread:

    Done Today:

    1. Changed out Radiator from one that I had Pulled off of my old 1995 XE

    2. Changed all the Belts

    3. While I was at it since I was already getting into things while I was in there cleaned up engine bay changed water Pump timing belt & going to track down my injector circut code I keep getting.

    4. Changed all fluids

    5. Switched out all Solenoids with new ones in my Transmission Pan see if that fixes that issue if not then well it's on to looking for a new transmission for this girl. Which if that is the case then heck at least I have a couple extra of all solenoids in there in case I ever need them or guess I could sell em if it comes down to that we'll see what the outcome is first though.

    To Do:

    1. Try to figure out why my ET-Auto Power Switch is no longer functioning anymore

    2. Find source to why the clock on my dash is no longer working light comes on for it but doens't display the time just lit up & blank.

    3. Get new windshield & replace

    4. Front steering & Suspension replacement

Everybody in Colorado has that many stickers.... I think, but I've never left this county just of the three people from Colorado that got lost here they all had stickers like that. haha

It should have an adjustment if its just slack in the cable.

Could need pads or shoes though.

On a side note of the 20 vehicles I've owned since my wife and I got married 4 years ago many were manuals.... maybe 3 had functional e-brakes. I draw the e-brake short stick in life every time, I used to hand the valets my truck keys and a brick if it was a hilly parking lot.

  10. They go at a diagonal pattern for removing them however I would refer to the FSM to give you proper order for that or a Haynes or Chilton book as well. if I remember right it's on page 22 in section EM of the FSM that will show you the proper order when removing & installing those. I would refer to it or if you don't have it you can find the link to download it in the Forums here under the Garage section I would recommend doing that as it is a good thing to have on hand when doing any kind of work.

  11.

Any of the 4x4, 4 speed autos that came in an xterra, pathfinder, or hardbody will fit with the exception of the VQ35 powered r50 pathys. They are all the same trans case with some small differences in gear ratio for the later years. I am running a 2002 Xterra trans in my 94 pathy. It works great. Just plugged right in. It doesn't matter if it is an xe se or le the drivetrain was all the same...I don't know how the 2wd ones work.

Thanks for the info on this also good to know that all of the others will also work & are compatible with it as well. Sure did seem rather strange to me when I was told that & was the first I had ever heard of that also. Which is why I knew this would be the best place to ask the question I have nothing but great pointers, advice & information from lots of the members. Along with lots of very useful information & links to help with finding good sources to acquire various parts & other things & great help with troubleshooting on finding the answers to issues that arise on Nissan's. Thanks again for the info adamzan.

  12. To convert the 2wd to 4wd. You have to remove the tail housing, open up the transmission and to remove the snap ring that holds the output shaft in and slide the long shaft out and swap it out with your short shaft. Unless you really don't care and don't mind the differences. It'll work. You'll need to swap you're wire harness over.

Awesome thank you that is all good information I had thought that the year shouldn't had made a difference from everything I have read & saw about it. Just made me think for a bit though after few different Auto yards told me the same thing. Looks like I will stick to the 4x4 one then since I am one who frequently uses my 4wd if I am not working or at home working on my 95 XE you usually will find me out in the mountains somewhere searching for unexplored trails I have yet to go on it's my home away from home I guess you could call it. Thanks again for the info @Cuong Nguyen

  13. My truck has been a champion, and I had only found one other dodgy modification in the 3 years I've been working on my truck. Thank you, that certainly clears things up for me! Next time to pick a-part, let's see if I remember to seek out the bolt...though it's getting harder to find this model there :blush02:

I have noticed it has been a bit harder to find these 1995 XE pathfinders hear as well used to see them a lot but lately not so much at all. However with the ones I have come across been able to find some cool parts I have yet to see.

  14. I have got a question regarding the tranny for a 95 XE AT 4x4 I had a few different auto yards all tell me the same thing here which they said was the case just for the 95's. They had told me that I depending on what the build date was on mine made the difference to which RE4901A I would be able to use. Was told by all of them if it was built before September of 1994 it had to be used from anything after July & if was built in July of 1994 It had to be used from one built before then. When I was looking into this at the time I had 2 95 XE 3. AT 4x4's where one was built in July & other was built in September of 1994 so not sure if that was where they got those dates from or not. However when they looked up in the system which one would be compatible to pull from that was the answer each of these places gave me & said it was only like that for the 1995's.

Has anyone else ever heard of this before ? I know this was the first time that I had heard this & thought maybe it was just where I had asked the first time but then after a couple of the other places all told me the same thing it had me wondering if this really was the case on this. If so makes it a bit tougher to try to locate one down if it has to come from a specific build date on these 1995's. Especially when from everything I have heard & read it sounds like these transmission can be a pain to rebuild although it can be done. One more this as well is does it have to come from a 4x4 or can it also come from a 4x2 & is there anything special that needs to be done if it is & can be done with one from a 4x2> Thanks!

  15. That would explain why first 95 XE AT 4x4 didn't appear to have one on it when I had it taken apart. Turns out that the 95 XE AT that I am currently driving does not have one either not even seeing anything showing a place for it where it would be at under the intake or anywhere else one could have been moved to either. So guess out of both my pathfinders I have owned now I got ones that didn't come with one on them. So while I have it torn down going to go ahead & change out some hoses & thing as Startibartfast mentioned to take a look at while the intake was off. At least she can get a good refreshing of some things down there before I get it all put back together.

  16. I'm wondering if it was an aftermarket one as I'm not familiar with it. I have never seen one with ports on the side of the body.

Thanks, yeah I have been searching to see what I can find on it but with no luck I just don't want to put it in to end up finding out something gets messed up & doesn't work having to pull back apart again. Especially since you have to get into the pan to do this. So don't want to have to drain fluid a few different times for this since I know that is not good on the truck either. It goes in the spot for it alright it just seems to sit out a tiny bit more & looks to be a tight stretch on the connector as well.

One on the right is the one that came out of my pathfinder which I noticed to that looks like the little clip part of the metal bracket is not positioned in right spot to stay in it's slot on solenoid which will show in a different picture.

markings from one on left are JB214 & next to that is CDB03 & I can't find any sort of cross reference on this part anywhere

Marking from one on the right aright RAV4 which seems to be from Toyota
