  1. I think i got that deal or nearly that from Amazon.com. Give em a try! Also, it's an easy job, mine was a little more tedious, i repacked the front bearing and fixed a couple of busted lugs while i was at it, which was a pita because of the disk... but i digress. Oh, and the other pain was replacing the stock studs with the ones the Warns came with, but that's because i'm not a pro lol.
  2. Just a quick update. Lift is done. KYB strut bearings from AC were junk and had to be replaced withing 4 days for the factory pieces, other than that, all is well. Plan on picking up new front and rear carriers with 4:6 gearing and lsd to replace my open 4:3's. Also, cb parts should be in by the end of the week. I'm STILL waiting on my Black panther armor. Next week will be a month since i sent my check. Oh well. Things worth having and all that...
  3. Ok, I brought this up somewhere else but it was the wrong place. I was looking at a Warn bumper mounted on a toyota four runner. Older model. Anyway, the dimensions (length and width and depth of the wings) look like an exact match for my 02' pathfinder. I know the mounting is different, but with some fabricating, as long as everything else is good, it shouldn't be impossible to do. So, my thoughts are, if we could get dimensions for other makes of vehicles, someone could make an adapter kit for the tjm's available. Like the toyota. I've seen tons of tjm bumpers for toyotas, and alot of times they're cheaper than when the pathy's were available. I'm trying to get ahold of that warn bumper and see if i can make it work, but does anyone else have any suggestions or input to make this happen? Does this make any sense?
  4. Thanks fellas. Called the dealer, but no good, they claimed they'de have to look at in when i brought it in for service. I found another pathfinder in the parking lot at work, se and all. It too had a sticker where the lsd should be, but this one was legible, and it apeared to be just some sort of part label from the factory, but not orange. Hope this may help someone else in the future. It seems that both LSD and non LSD have a little sticker, both in the same place, same size.
  5. yep! no vin codes or axle code info? I found the metal tag for that in the engine bay. damn. Well, trying to stay positive, At least it's a curious puzzle and I already have the part on the way if it is broken lol...
  6. Hey All!! Ok, to summarize, i got a screaming deal on a new LSD carrier for my 2002 SE with 4:3 gearing. DEan helped a ton on deciding to buy it. BUt on a whim, i went down to the truck to look for a sticker on the pumpkin. I know the wheels spin in opposite directions when lifted, so i figured i didn't have lsd. I found the threads with the sticker suggestion, and see above. Guess what, it's got an old sticker where the lsd one should be!! I can't read it, but it's on the upper left and seems to be the same size as the one Slick posted a picture of somewhere. WTF????? So I jack it up again, and yep, they both spin opposite. It's only got 85000 on it. What's going on?? Help...please
  7. Here's the link:http://www.4x4parts.com/public_html/shop/index.php3?page=shop/flypage&product_id=290&category_id=ccf6e8ad62e6ee964eaf951a3e82ccdb&ps_session=f1da6fdcbdbfb882a6bc29dcd177c653 Is it the same thing?
  8. Oh, Oh, my turn for another dumb question! Can you add LSD like the one AC sells to an axle without?
  9. Thanks pal, I thought so. So now all should be well. I'll find out shortly. I plan to write up something with pictures to show other Newbs like me they shouldn't take shortcuts and buy the KYB bearing. Hope to help out some others so they don't have to do the job twice, and waste money on crappy parts too.
  10. Hmmm. I know I got 2 out of three for sure. I lined up the triangle with the inside and the W with the wheel. I'm not positive that I seated the bearing mount like that though. Can I hope that there's only one way it will fit? I just spent the day slowly taking the struts out, buying the OEM bearings and putting it back together. The noise has gone away so far. The KYB bearing is intact, but it's @!*% compared to the OEM pieces. There's nothing inside the two pieces but what appears to be silicone lube maybe. It's watery. Reminded me of KY liquid lol. And they will bind with the slightest hand pressure. That's it. The OEM one is filled with grease and has some sort of bushing inside. The kyb was plastic on plastic. Now you've got me worried about that bearing seat... And while I'm at it, xplorx4, how do you like those spring compressors. I rented the Sears type from the auto store, but they were a PITA. I could never fit the impact on both. One or the other only. The other I had to hand wrench. I saw the brand you have in that picture, they're Kentool right?
  11. I'll try to take one. It will probably be a mirror shot. Space is pretty tight up there. Then i'll have to host it somewhere... These are left and right side of drivers strut looking in. Any help? oh, and today, both sides of truck are making the noise and binding. Grrrrrrr.
  12. Ehhh, thanks guys. I appreciate the thoughts. I guess I'll give it the week, if it doesn't go away, I'll re-rent the compressors and take it out to check it out. I'll probably go to the dealer and buy the stock replacements if I go that route, just to rule out a faulty bearing. Just to clarify, these were new kyb strut bearing kits from AC. Also, my tires aren't rubbing. I only went with 31x10.5x15. I had to reshape some plastic liner with a heat gun, but otherwise i've got tons of clearance. What a pita. Thanks again. Pete
  13. Yep, I saw your post too, thought maybe mine would contribute to your decision if I could generate some input. Looking back at it, I'd suggest going stock, that way, even if my problem isn't the bearing, i would know for sure. Kind of one possibility eliminated. Thanks for the suggestion, but i'm sure it's not tire rub. Darn thing is lightly binding at the top of the strut. I sprayed it down with wd40, but it helped none.
  14. Holey Crow! LOL, you have a great picture for everything!
  15. Well, it took me around 5 or 6 hours to do. I spent a bit of extra time running the fill nipple for the Air lift Bags up and mounted it in the gas fill compartment. Nice and protected there. The truck looks great, and handles well too. I took it on a camping trip this weekend, loaded to the roof and with the air lift bags at 5 psi, it barely sagged at all. I kept them low psi hoping to break the springs in a bit. The nearly 300 mile round trip went off without a flaw. I did notice the topping out on little quick bumps, not a pleasant experience but expected. Now the problem. I noticed while turning the wheel without moving, or moving very slowly, that there's an odd noise from the front strut. It's sort of a dud, dud, dud as you turn the wheel. I got out, had the wife turn the wheel and watched as the strut turned in it's arc. It seems like the top is binding slightly, then when it releases due to the turning, it does it's dud, then sticks again for a small moment, then dud again as the wheel continues to turn through it's arc. As though the strut bearing isn't functioning smoothly, but roughly? Make any sense? I used the KYB strut bearing kit AC sent. I was short on time with work hours being long and didn't want to chase the dealer. Anyway, could this be a break in issue, or do the KYB bits suck that bad? Any way I could have installed it incorrectly? over torqued or something? I used a small mirror to look up there, and it appears seated neatly. Also, the sound comes mostly from the drives side, but the passenger side is binding slightly too. I did a search for strut bearing and read through the results. Wasn't a lot in this area. I'm hoping to hear that this is just a break in issue and it's happened to others before i go back and rent the spring compressors and tear it apart again. Thanks for any help.
  16. Hammer and appropriate chisel worked for me. Tapped around the diameter a bit so it worked off even, then put a bigger chisel in the gap, sorta wedging it out. Came off pretty well for me that way. Best of luck!
  17. LOL, that's the stuff i'm talking about. I have a habit of turning an hour job into 4 hours. That sucks tmorgan4, I'll leave them alone. Well, Ten more hours, and I can start the lift. Wish me luck.
  18. Ahh, i remember on your site you had said you removed them. I was planning to do so as well, glad you shared that with me. A little less work to do now. Yayy!
  19. Thank you Sooo much. Thats just the kind of stuff i wouldn't figure out until too late. It always seems to happen lol. With my luck, it seems i'm always breaking something that I wasn't even working on... Every time. Also xplorx4, i've seen your website and note that you had the airlift. Were the bumpstops a pain to remove? Any other tips for them specifically, heck, or any other, I'm all ears (or eyes, dang slang is outdated).
  20. LOL, yep, belive me, i tried to think of a way to go without the compressor. I really wanted to get it done tonight, but no, I'm not brave enough (or dumb enough) to cob something together. I've rented the NAPA (auto store here) set before. Seems like a nice model with safety pins built in. Just like the Sears one I've seen on here. I had good luck with them on a car, I'm wondering if they're even going to fit on these springs. I couldn't find capacity anywhere on them. I might end up having to buy the Ken-tool set they sell that are bigger if Napa's set doesn't fit after all. Thanks for the tips on the rears. Anyone with an estimate on time to do this job with Air Lift install in the rear?
  21. Thanks all. The picture doesn't do it justice really. I love it. The suspension parts came today, but Napa didn't have the rental spring compressor available today, so the install will have to wait till tomorrow. Anyone have any idea on a rough install time for the AC lift? Wish me luck.
  22. OOHHHHH, that debate! Thanks! No problems here. This 02' thankfully has the transfer case shifter on the floor. No "AUTO MODE" on it. I think it was an option for the LE model in my year. This is just the SE. Only thing I miss is the sunroof, but I like the factory SE rack better. Only wish I could find a basket to fit it.
  23. Hmmm, I must have missed the debate. Where is it happening? I haven't been off road with em yet, but they fit great, look better, and as far as I know, are working fine. I did test them a little... As for the color, I HATED it, only bought it because I got a good deal on it, so color wasn't a priority. The stock aluminum wheels were SOOOOOOOOOOO friggin ugly, they looked plastic and had a funky design. But now, with the rockcrawlers, WOW, it looks so much better. The black highlights the window trim and bug deflector and the factory tint "pops" lol.
  24. I wanted you all to be the first to see my latest work. Over the weekend I installed the warn hubs. I wouldn't have known I even needed them if not for you all. Heck, I wouldn't have been able to find the friggin warn part # either if I had known. Then, today the new BFG 31x10.5 with 15" pro-comp rock crawlers. I got a screamin deal I think at 4wheelparts.com. Mounted, balanced, lug nuts, center caps, and free shipping for about $785. If you got a better deal, don't tell me, I don't want my euphoria to fade lol. All this is in preparation for the AC lift that better be here tomorrow. Those guys I tell ya... Anyway, here's some pics:
  25. Thanks All, Ordered the package today. AC lift with bilseins and kyb. also ordered the "Air lift" bags. Picked up some other supplies for work i plan to do in the front end at the same time. I've got to replace a couple of broken wheel studs and might as well do the brakes while i'm there. Picked up a bearing packer, and ordered the strut bearing nut tool since it all has to come off. Hoping to get my warn manual hubs by the end of the week as well. I love buying new tools. I see each one as a small investment in my future lol. thanks again. Pete
