Hey all, I just got myself delivered a replacement for my junk engine, and I have a list of things I'm going to take care of before I end up installing it. I'd like you to check my list and let me know if I should be doing other things while I'm at it. Thermostat Timing belt/tensioner Motor mounts Water pump Rear/front seals Oil pan gasket Maybe Cam seals Anything else?

Came off a rodeo I think, from the junk yard.

Resonator and air temp sensor I think don't quote me

Someone on this forum fit a brush guard from an Isuzu with very little modification.

Hey all. I've got a 96 r50 with a blown engine. Is it possible to put in a vg30 while I rebuild my vg33e? I'm hoping I could without swapping ecus and stuff.

Sounds radical.

Cam sprockets punches are lined up to rear timing cover dimples first righto? -
Hey Rcar50, first fellow forum member also from paradise.

Thanks for clarifying

I think your cam sprockets might have gotten switched from the correct side. Switch them and see if it lines up better. Plus I remember after doing mine that they don't align dead on, they were very slightly off such as that.

Thanks for the info. It looks great how's it running now

I have a question for you dac. My engine is currently on the stand, I ended up dropping the front differential/axle. My question is were you able to access all the bell housing bolts upon reinstallation while having everything up to your valve covers assembled on the block? I had to unbolt some from the underneath and some from the top of the engine bay.

Great thread.

Timing belt replacement -98 Path
rickpyle13 replied to IchWarriorMkII's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
Not sure if it applies to all, but on my lower timing belt cover there's a marking that is for the dimple on the crank sprocket. Of course you kinda have to eyeball it since you need to have it off. Also I think it's 43 teeth from the right cam sprocket dimple to the crank dimple. -
Could it be your rear main?

Between the two of them, that one is 10x easier to undertake.

Cylinder 3, looks like very slight ridging on the top of the piston towards the front of the vehicle, slightly out of round towards the other side. This happens to be the cylinder my plug has been consistently wet, and signs of oil leak into corresponding exhaust port. Overhaul or junking necessary?
