  1. I searched for a DIY on how to remove fender flares from my 2004 SE to clean it up and make sure there's no rust. Is it highly likely or unlikely that ill find anything? There's no rust anywhere else on the vehicle, never even in the strut towers.
  2. What advantages and drawbacks are there for an MT over an AT?
  3. I have a bone stock 2004 Pathfinder SE with 124,000 miles on it. It's a one owner, dealer serviced and maintained truck with all records and no rust. I plan on going off trail with it and getting my outdoors on. I live in a 4 season state that throws anything from snow and rocks to rain and mud. I am curious as to how capable my Pathfinder is? It currently has Yokohama Geolander H/T 255/65/16's on it now with worn tread and they are obviously not my choice, they came with it. Most people talk smack about Pathfinders because they are UNI-Body and IFS, not a 4runner or an XJ/TJ Jeep and has an open diff but maybe these aren't as bad as people make them out to be. I am not in a financial position for a lift right now, but I may need tires sooner than later and am looking for the biggest that won't cause me troubles in rubbing etc. How capable is my Pathy without a lift? Should I even worry about it? I will be doing on road/off road/off trail stuff and want something good for what might get thrown at me unexpectedly just the same as if I went out asking for it. I've considered tires such as the following but don't even really know what size would work... or if I even need a lift to hold my own? Cooper STT look great, I wanted to stay away from BFG A/T because they get too gummed up too easily and then there are the Grabber AT2's, Good Year DURA-TRAC (not even sure they have the size I'd need), I had Toyo Open Country A/T on my lifted XJ but they didn't seem to grab well. Any help, advice would be great.
  4. Would the 235/75 be skinny and tall? Also did you have the stock 16s?
  5. Someone here is running 245/70/17 without issues on stock ride and wheels I think? What would that translate to for 16s?
  6. I have a 2004 SE, it is bone stock and I am assuming because it's not an LE that it has 16 inch wheels. I want bigger tires without rub while keeping stock ride height (for now) I see that pic of Grabber A/T 2's that look really good but are on that LE in size 245/70/17. What can I run for a big no rub tire on my stock wheels? I am searching everywhere and getting no clear answer. People are saying stock size only and I just don't think that's true. Would I want 245/255/265? What are the pros and cons of those and what are the pros and cons of 65/70/75? What is the best combo that'd fit?
  7. I'd most likely be going with a general grabber or good year dura trac depending on funds at the time.
  8. So oem is 255/65/16 and I could run a 245/75/16 but it'd rub?
  9. I swear I've heard of people running a bigger tire than oem spec without issues.
  10. The flares seem to be on super tight I wouldn't even know where to begin to get that take off and I don't know how to take the flaps off either. Are there any DIYs out on them?
  11. I'm not even sure it's worth it in that case. I want to clean it up but spending more money only to replace something for it to work a tiny bit better makes me just want to kick them. I just didn't know if removing them would benefit off road, asthetically and or hurt my rust resistance if they were gone.
  12. This topic has been covered before but never to a simple extent, someone always trimmed this, rubbed that or had something to make these answers complicated. Heres the deal... I have a BONE stock (wheels, suspension, everything) 04 SE and want to know what is the biggest tire size that I can run on stock everything? EX (265/65/16?, 31"x???) with no rubbing, no fabbing, no BS. I might give it a 2in lift one day? I might do other stuff... will this tire size (whatever it is) look stupid with a 2 in lift? Every time I search, even if someone has a big tire on stock suspension they have different wheels than me, or different something.
  13. All I'm concerned about is if it will look stupid, be hard to do and if it will be bad for the vehicle.
  14. I have running boards as well. I can't imagine rock chips doing that much I'm more worried about rust exposure. Will it look better without?
  15. I have an 04 SE, it has 123k and is rust free. I'm thinking of removing the mid flaps and wondering about the pros and cons of doing so. It seems like what they love doing is keeping built up snow and salt so that I have to kick it off. If its going to look better and be better off road and for the truck I want to do it but what is good and bad about it and how hard are they to remove?
  16. I have a 2004 SE with 123k. It is bone stock and might need tires sooner than later. What size would be good and what other starter off road friendly mods should I consider?
  17. Here are a few bad pics from the Craigslist ad:
  18. After the worlds worst travel day I ended up with a 2004 Burgundy SE w 123k no rust and perfect strut towers. The tires are Yokohama Geolanders that are kind of worn but whatever. It's a one owner dealer serviced rig and hopefully it will treat me just right, down the road I plan to do some mild tasteful and functional modding to get deeper in the woods. That's all for now
  19. Interesting update! I didn't buy the qx4! The guy lied to me about rust and when I showed up after the 5 hour drive and he saw me looking in the wheel wells he told me that he had the front strut towers replaced, both of them... He said there were holes and tried to convince me it was better than new. I walked away. He flipped out and was going to make me take a cab to the nearest train station 20 minutes away. What a snake. I bought a burgundy one owner 04 pathy instead!
  20. It is a 2002 it has a timing chain. 2001.5 and later have a chain.
  21. So I'm currently on the bus to pick up a QX4. I just sold my BMW 330Ci yesterday and I am replacing it today with a 2002 QX4 (Black) with 111,000 miles. It is a 2 owner (current one bought it at 44k) and was just run through an Infiniti dealership inspection. Recent work done by the owner: Struts Ball joints Lower control arms Sway links Rear shocks Front pads and rotors in the past year Rear shoes in the past year Exhaust/mufflers from the cat back replaced Tires are two years old He also said he just replaced wipers and belts The Infiniti dealership said it was the nicest they've seen in a while may be BS that anyone could say but I'm going with it. It looks super clean but has the dumb 3 spoke wheels. I plan on tinting the front windows, replacing the wheels and tires eventually with something nicer looking and a more aggressive tire and over time it will be transformed with some more off road friendly goodies but until then it's stock and hopefully I can make it through some tough stuff now. It's going to be a daily driver with outdoorsy stuff in mind as well as some adventure time.
  22. I've checked out autotrader, cars.com, craigslist but there are next to no significant forums that have a good number of pathfinders for sale. Maybe Nico or nissan forums? If you plan on traveling accross the country and spending 3 hours finding the ONE pathfinder you probably DONT have interest in, in the pool of other nissan cars for sale. Help would be great!
