I don't know do I?
-
I was shopping around specifically for Grabber AT2, Open a country AT2 and no one in the area has them for anything but for a ton, Grabbers are no longer cheap. I found a shop locally with DynaPro ATMs for $158 ea for my 04. They are not 10 ply but are P metric and the guy said that'd be more than fine but will I regret that decision? I am set on an AT tire for my on and off road endeavors but $800+ is a bit steep for me now

Does anyone have a part number or pics of these clips that I'm expected to break?
-
I looked under and in the wheel wells for rust and there isn't any.
-
The rest of the vehicle is rust free
-
I knock on it with my knuckle and it's strong, I'd probably have to hammer it to break it.
-
bigger question might be what is your back space on your wheels
I have stock 04 SE wheels.
-
-
It literally looks like a swollen laceration that could be stitched.
-
My photobucket is messed up

I have a 2004 SE and I found a rust crack on the hatch pillar, near the hydraulic on the hatch. It is about a 2 inch crack, it's not soft but what the hell do I do about that and how did I get it there?!

Ok well I haven't had time to change my oil yet considering my schedule, I am a couple hundred miles over but still have the Pennzoil and filter in my truck and plan on taking it back. What would be recommended for a 5w30? What for a semi-synthetic? How about castrol? I'm going to be changing it next week when I am off from work.
-
Ugh! DuraTracs are so damn expensive! What is the tread life on them anyway?
-
I should just swap out the 10w30, it's what the dinks at autozone said was required according to their computers which I should have known better. I'm going to take the stuff back as well as the filter and just go to NAPA like I usually do

Check out Falken Rocky Mountains. Same tire as a Falken Wild Peak, just exclusive to Americas/Discount tire.
I read all the reviews on discount tire and there were quite a few people that had issues with them, especially in snow/ice.

I have an 04 SE with 124,xxx on it and am about to do my first oil change so I picked up some Pennzoil 10w30 High Mileage. Has anyone else here used it? Any recommendations for a filter?
-
Yes.
I think I'm going to pass on the retreads

I'm living in SE Idaho where its winter about 5-6 months of the year. They've been great in the snow and awesome in the rain. I got the ones with kedge grip (scroll down on their page to read about it). Its built in walnut shells and glass where the shells pit out and end up with some great siping. The tread is much more AT than MT in my opinion, but thats my 2 cents. For the best bang for the buck, retreads have been worth it for me.
https://treadwright.com/p-33-245-75r16-axiom-a-t-e.aspx These are only 99/ea for an AT
https://treadwright.com/p-34-245-75r16-warden-a-t-e.aspx and these are only 90/ea for ones that look just like the BFG ATs... Click the size you want on the left had side of the page to see all the options in that size.
Are these re-treads?
-
No BF Goodrich?
I don't like BFG All-Terrains, they get too mucked up in anything wet and muddy, same with snow and I don't want a MT tire.

I recommend these. $108 a pop, and have been wonderful tires to drive- both highway and offroad.
I don't think an MT is a good idea considering how much rain we get, even though rain creates mud I might not be able to run that size due to the aggressive tread.

Duratracs
Why and are they worth the extra money over the rest?
-
Alright well I've decided to go with 245/75/16s on stock ride height, mud-flap delete and a little scissor work makes them work fine apparently BUT! Now we're on to which one is the best for the money?
The terrain:
New England, mud, rocks, trails, grass, snow... everything? It's NOT a dry place, very hummid up here and sometimes we wonder where the sun is because it rains quite a bit, unpredictably.
Hankook Dyna Pro ATM $130 (this can't be right)
Toyo Open Country AT2 $168
General Grabber AT2 $158
Goodyear DuraTrac $179 (but I've seen some in the same size that are $200 each?)
Cooper Discovery ST-Maxx $192
I obviously want the best bang for buck... I also forgot the Nitto Terra Grappler AT I think...
I want the most versitile, best bang for buck, good looks obviously and that is about it.

I have literally a few 1000km off road in mine with zero complaints. 97 Standard open/open. As was mentioned good tires, THINK 1st Drive second helps alot. I have found no where I wanted to go that I could not go, but I have a lot of off road experience. Just know when to say nope not gonna do that, if you think you will get stuck or hung up, you probably will. If you have buddies with you who can unstick you give it a go, otherwise move on.
Tires are tough because there are a lot of opinions and they are not cheap, my suggestion talk to guys where you live. Every off road environment is different, a good tire in New England might be a really bad choice out here on the West Coast. For example there is a lot of sharp rock, and smooth river rock around, mud unless you look for it is not so common. I prefer an aggressive AT, I run Discover S/T Maxx (http://us.coopertire.com/Tires/Light-Truck/DISCOVERER-S-T-MAXX.aspx) they work well off road and are not too bad in the rain. My Pathy is my daily as well as fishing truck so MT's were not really a good option.
Mine is a daily too and we do get a lot of rain. I also considered Open Country AT2s
Took the plunge on some 245/74/16 Hankook Dynapro ATMs

So my OE Yokohama Geolander HT-S 255/65/16 were looking pretty worn and cracking on the edges. I initially wanted Toyo Open Country AT2s or General Grabber AT2s and also considered other options but they were all so damn expensive and tire rack doesn't seem to be much of a deal anymore due to shipping so I went local and got some Hankook Dynapro ATM RF10 P metric in 245/75/16. Here are some pics, 5 miles on them so far and they feel nice. They are 30.5 in vs the OE 29s. The ride seems higher now and I haven't experienced rub but I also don't have front mud flaps anymore. On to the pics.
