  1. Take one '98 4Runner and one '96 Pathfinder....

    IMG_0018.jpg

Add one brain fart while backing out of a slick driveway in the dark , multiply by one tire carrier...

    Equals...

Not a scratch on the Pathfinder , I was in the 4Runner when they tangled (not driving though...) and it was a good hit .

  2. My cracked MAF was similar to what your truck is doing , if I came to a stop it would stall if I didn't keep my feet on the gas and the brake while stopped .

My mechanic found a hairline crack in the MAF "housing" (for lack of the correct term) , being a friend he tried to save me some $$$ and put some "goop" on the crack .

He drove it around picking up parts , lunch , etc... and it was fine for a while before the stalling came back , the "goop" had separated after drying completely .

New MAF and it never did it again .

May or may not be the problem you're having , but checking for cracks is free....

My distributor went boots up a few years back but never gave me stalling problems , it bucked a few times and then just crapped out .

I can't comment on the relationship between the timing belt and distributor positions though .

Fuel filters are cheap , I'd change it and see what happens as it's due anyway .

  3. It will work just fine as long as you keep in mind that it will completely change the ride and handling with the AC springs and mud tires .

You will almost definitely have some rubbing to take care of , probably before full lock in reverse .

You should check the upper and lower control arms , if the bushings look worn or cracked change them to the split poly's .

If they haven't been replaced at 200,000 you'll be feeling the death wobble soon , it's not a good feeling...

    This is a '96 with AC coils , Bilsteins , GR's , and 32 - 11.5 Cooper STT's .

Difference being I used 1" AC spacers up front , without them you'll have the rear higher than the front but some like it that way .

  4. So I take off at about 4:30 , just flurries .

First song on the radio just happens to be "Highway to the danger zone"..... :lmao:

Get 1/2 way there , sun is going down fast , look up in the sky and there are literally 1,000's of crows flying around....

Nothing much so far but now they predict up to 3 feet .

  5. Forecasted Nor'Easter here in CT tonight , 20-30+ inches and 60 mph wind .

Headed out to work at 5:00 p.m. , headed home about 2:00 a.m. during what is predicted to be the worst of it .

Governor banned travel after 9:00 p.m. but essential media employees are exempt , yay (?) ! .

Gonna leave kitty 2 days of eats for insurance....

  6. Doggie has such a serious look on his face....

Looks like a real brute any full body pics of doggie ?

A mechanic friend used to have a 150 lb Rott who hated the Mailman for some reason , one day he looked at the clock and said "Oh $%#@ !" .

He called the dog and had him jump in the covered bed of a Hardbody 4x4 and locked him up inside .

I asked what was going on and he said "watch what happens when the Mailman comes in" .

The dog went berserk , going round and round making those Rottie sounds that make people pee themselves .

That truck was going up , down , and sideways at the same time....

Aside from the Mailman , he was a good boy .

Loved those orange cheese crackers and hot dogs , I'd grab his muzzle and blow air in his nose and he'd act like a puppy .

The Mailman just flipped him the bird....

  7. I never measured mine with the AC coils and AC strut spacer , but when "fresh" there is more than 2" rear and 3" front lift .

As a disclaimer though , my coils were 17 years old and sagging pretty good before I changed them .

Looking at it 10,000 miles later , especially when parked next to a stock height R50 , I'd say the 2" rear and 3" front claims are pretty accurate .

I fit 32 x 11.5 STT's on 3.75" backspaced wheels with no trimming , just had to remove the mud flaps on the flares , but I do get some rubbing in reverse or full lock forward turns .

I had some CV issues that have gone away since the front settled .

I'd consider the difference in ride quality between spacers and AC coils more so than the lift attained .

AC coils are stiff and remain so after settling , kinda bone jarring at times .

They also seem to alleviate any body roll through corners , with the center of gravity still at a point where it doesn't ever feel "tippy" .

Spacers and stock coils should give you a much softer ride but with the added height and softer springs I can't say how it might handle around corners .

  8. So if i was to go get a set of cams could i just stick them in and be done? Or do you have to change valve springs and all that stuff?

    Wondering the same myself .

If I could gain 10-12 hp I'd be happy .

  9. Get better Poop !

    Expecting updates on him now....

Aww! Little Squirrely certainly knows who's watching out for him, and where he wants to be! Cute little bugger, and I'm glad he finally made it inside as well, he looks really happy.

Sometimes I think the 1/2 wild, 1/2 crazy cats are the best ones. They generally have a lot of personality and can be intensely loyal. They say that cats don't really bond to people, but I don't believe that from my experiences...

Kind of this little nut job that adopted us. This is him recuperating after an over night at the vet, showing off his IV shave.

It has been a week of fun, starting with some staples and glue for holes in his belly hide, to an adverse reaction to anti-biotics or flea meds. This caused him to shut down; not eat, drink, eliminate and just lay around, seemingly in pain. He is eating and drinking now, pretty much his own self, but still locked in for observation to make sure the severe possibility of pancreatitis is not a reality.

Every one hope for a healty Poop!

  10. I'd say you have a good package picked out for your intended use .

I run the same struts and shocks but with the AC 2" coils and an AC 1" front spacer , it's a pretty stiff combo if the truck will be driven a lot each day .

The OME coils , from what I've seen others say , give a better "daily driver" ride just not as much lift .

Someone who runs them would know better about the difference between the HD and MD .

The trailing arms , when you upgrade your suspension along with those you'll think you're driving a new truck .

  11. Saw Squirrley this past Thursday , Friday , and Saturday .

Thursday , still an outdoor kitty , in his kitten mind I am now "That guy who brings me num nums"....

Friday , still an outdoor kitty , "Hey ! It's that guy who brings me num nums again !"....

Saturday brought us our first good cold rain , crappy pic but.....

    Squirrley wins !

  12. It was just about dark in that pic , he was chasing tiny stuff blowing around and having a ball !

That's part of Squirrleys charm to me , the resilience he's shown in just a month .

At the age he showed up he was pretty much helpless of his own accord , food and water came to him by good luck at near to the last moment .

    He's a tough little bugger !

One way or another he'll have protection from weather , this I will be sure of.... :lmao:

I already carry biscuits for my dog friends , now I need to carry kitty treats !

  13. Mine looks better in pics than in person .

It's faded from never being waxed and has some rust becoming noticeable in the usual places .

The interior is pretty good 'cause the first thing I bought back in 2000 were seat covers and a full set of the "tray" style mats .

It looked pretty bad before I started throwing $$$ at it last November .

Runs great though (knock on wood) , and it gets driven much harder now....

  14. Danger is looking good !

About a month ago a friend had a tiny little fella show up under his backyard shed , I mean tiny , probably no more than 6 weeks old and skinny as a rail .

Nobody had seen a momma cat or any other kittens and we still can't figure out just where he came from .

Very skittish and wild , he wouldn't come within yards before retreating into his hidey hole .

They began leaving food and water (food picked up just before dark so as not to entice "critters") , and gradually the little fella now known as "Squirrely" put on weight and came around to people .

He's about 10 weeks old now and there is an argument going on about letting him inside , I'm pretty sure the "inside crowd" will win before it gets very cold.... :/

He's a hoot , playing around his shed all day , lets you handle him and has become very affectionate .

    "Squirrely".....
