  1. its kinda strange how nissan just tossed whatever into the pathy's.. i've seen pics of rear diffs that don't have a removeable cover on the rear. whereas mine does, 8 bolts.. i can't tell if its lsd or not tho..
  2. but that chart doesn't have E models, i can't vote
  3. i'm deffinitely not in a rush to swap it, but if i did i'd get 400 miles+ to a tank on the freeway before i'd have to stop for fuel which would be awesome.. if i do swap it i'll snag everything since its a pick n pull.. hopefully it will bolt up since the chassis are basically the same. its super torquey, you can practically dump the clutch from an idle and it will hop and go and not kill the motor..
  4. i saw a 2door v6 in the junkyard, i think i'll go measure the tanks physical size and compare to mine, that would tell me for sure.. the no carpet thing is awesome, it has this factory molded ruber mat in it that fits like carpet, has padding under it, etc. but its soo easy to clean.. lol it looks new compared to what 25 year old carpet would look like.. the no tach thing isn't too bad, i'm good at telling rpm's by sound so no issues with shifting (my wifes another story) and since the speedo is off, i'm going to hard mount a gps in the big square where teh tach would be. it'll work out fine. a pillar pod with a tach will come later too. the 20mpg is prolly a power to weight ratio thing.. its the same weight as a v6 with 30 less hp.. it does have the lower gears tho and of course this is still 100% original, all the smog, air injection, etc is still there, and functional.. i haven't done a tuneup yet either and it looks like its got original wires.. so who knows on the plugs.. i have to go through it basic maintenance wise.. engine is clean, quiet, doesn't leak, doesn't smoke, plenty of power considering. (it will run 85 on the flats down the freeway, thats wound out too, most 4cyl cars of this vintage wouldn't do that nowdays)if i cruise at 65-70mph on the flats i'm only 1/4 throttle or so. if i hit a big pass, its 4th gear and 60mph at half throttle without working it really hard. i'm torn on getting rid of the smog air injection stuff.. it needs exhaust but i'm hesitant on removing this stuff since its all working properly. and of course i can't find much info on it at all cause its 4cyl
  5. yup mines the rare 4cyl.. i feel like the only one here with a 4cyl haha.. i guess i'm going to have to fill a 5 gallon can and run it till it quits, then fill it to see how big it is.. i'm betting its the 15 gallon.. wonder if i can swap a 21gallon in? it is a true base model, no tach, no carpet (ruber mat in the whole thing rocks btw) no ac, no power anything except steering. the z24 motor gets 20mpg on the freeway averaging 70mph. has no isses with power.. 218k, 5-speed. has 4.63 gears (according to the tag) i love not having all the extras, really.. its much simpler in every way..
  6. how big is the gas tank for an 87 2door? my gauge was on E today, so i filled it and managed to squeeze 12 gallons. there a differences in gas tank size for 4cyl and v6?
  7. replaced both door handles today, and went through and replaced about 9ft of vacuum line that was starting to rot after 25 years.. (this pathy is original down to the plastic zip clamp things from the factory)
  8. so i finished my custom box today. went to the budget audio shop and picked up a 10" sub a 750w amp (which is prolly more like 400w) and the carpet.. i shoulda bought an amp that was physically smaller tho and i coulda mounted it in the body behind the plastic, ohh well, the back of the seat has to work till i get a diff amp.. the box is secured in 3 spots by bolts, polyurethane bushings and 2" fender washers.. the bushings keep it from vibrating the body of the truck. thumps hard if you turn it up, sounds nice when its down.. box is not ported either, but it is filled with filler.. total cost including, sub, amp, wireing kit, wood, carpet, glue... $150, the 6 hours total build time Priceless.. i like retaining my cargo space
  9. heh sure thing.. i made the template with a piece of cardboard in the truck, then started cutting the mdf lol.. its pretty simple design, only 6" deep, so it doesn't stick out any farther than the fenderwell, and does not block the cover in the corner. a 10" would fit if it was a low pro sub. but the box size might be a little small for a 10" so i am going with an 8". it'll be enough to round off the system i think.. (everything is kenwood and amped anyways) took about 2 hours yesterday to get the box cut, glued and ready for carpet.. and that was burning a router bit up too couple pics before it gets cutout and carpeted. (the rough product, if i make another it will be out of 3/4 or 1" mdf. this one is 1/2" the pencil is there so you can see how wide it is. it will bolt to where my inside tire mount was. (3 bolts)
  10. i fitted and built a custom sub box the fits over the drivers side rear fenderwell. it gets carpet, sub, amp, and wired tomorrow
  11. lol, its ok.. last time i took a car to the crusher i got $360 for it.. so you can't really go wrong i guess..
  12. just a thought for sealing the rack.. gm used those rubber well nuts in thier roof racks.. you tighten it down and it swells in the hole, and its rubber so it seals..

  14. ? so if you found an 87 pathy for $250 i'll go in halves with you on it since we're both local lol or if you pass on it let me know.. i might want it
  15. thanks, i just looked at a 4 door in the jy here.. it would deffinitely be easier to buy the brackets for the tire carrier. i almost took the tire carrier in the jy but it was bent . and someone had a deposit down on the cloth seats that woulda matched color wise. although the one in the JY did have the rear disc on it still. but i'ma leave that alone for now.. any roof crossbars would be awesome.. let me know on them if ya have some. thanks
  16. i didn't bother it was a $100 rig.. i got more for takin it to the scrapper after i parted it out.. was no problem (this was years and years ago) and heres some pics of the 87' i have now.. all original, only thing thats not is the wheels/tires/stereo/alarm. 30x9.50 15 bfg mud terrains.. its got new brakes, ball joints, tie rod ends, etc already.. factory rubber mat in the whiole truck (no carpet yay!) manual everything, no cruise, no rear wiper, no ac.. pretty basic truck (e model i am sure) but everything works, the vinyl seats are even nice under the covers. (i really don't like the seats tho). i'm doin door hinge pins today (easy job), i've ordered new door handles (pass side broken) and it will prolly go in for a new exhaust system this week (hangers are busted) i'd like to find a light bar, pushbar/brush gaurd, and do the spare tire mount mod. and of course it'll get a paint job come summer time. and i need to find the roof rack cross bars. last 2 are of the frame/rear end behind the rear tires. the other reason i bought it. 100% rust free, nice and solid
  17. so anyways, was wondering if an instrument cluster with a tach would swap into my pathy that didn't have a tach.. 4cyl e model.. cause a tach sure would be nice to have..

  19. just wanted to say hi, my first pathfinder tossed the timing belt the first 2 miles i drove it when it was bought, so i don't count it.. lol. and i am normally a subaru guy (lifts and all) but i just picked up an 87' 2dr, 4cyl, 5-speed the other day.. runs great, was taken care of pretty well.. frame and undercarraige is 100% rust free.. body is clean, just needs a paint job.. its nice enough i figure i'll fix it up some, add some things it didn't come with (E model). i'll have to get some pics and post one up to..
