  1. The AC display assembly is fairly simple to get to. Use a flathead screw driver and a rag and pry between the dash and the AC vents located above the digital display. These pop right out and from there it's just removing a few screws and the electronic connecting clips. I've taken my dash apart multiple times from installing my aftermarket receiver and then a backup camera. I have never pulled the AC unit itself but this is how to get to that step. -Chase
  2. I have an automatic but I was getting a jangle in 2nd and 3rd which ending up being a heatshield loose underneath. Definitely take the time and get under your truck and check all your heat shields. That could be a very inexpensive fix. I ended up just twisting mine so it fit tight again. Sooner or later I'll get around to grabbing a pipe clamp and fixing it.
  3. I was finally able to make it to autozone with the light on and the code it ran was P1491 which i read on here is a vacuum valve of somesort. I don't have rough idle or any symptoms of something wrong. The day after I had the code pulled my pathy made the 4 hour trip down to the OBX. I tried to locate the four way disc looking piece but didn't have much luck. Is this something I should be extremely worried about?
  4. Yea I was just looking into to doing the Radiator fush myself. Does anyone have opinions about being able to force clean the radiator with water pressure or simply doing the "boiling' type version with a chemical? If i'm going to flush and put new coolant in, I want to clean it as well before adding new. Chase On a side note, I replaced the cabin air filter today. My old one, which had seen 40k miles, was nasty and full of particulates.
  5. Yea I'm aware they are two different things. The guy at advanced mentioned that he might be able to pull the code from the computers memory but nothing popped up when he tried. He said i may just have a sensor loose somewhere that "jiggles when I drive".
  6. Yea mine has a timing a chain so I'm good there. I drove up to advanced today to have them run the check engine light and of course it went away while I was driving up there. I went ahead and ordered a cabin air filter and I bought some detailing items. The factory suggests changing the cabin air filter every 5k miles (I made that up but it's not alot) and I have never done it so maybe that could be it.
  7. Damn, I guess I was a little naive. I'll have to get up to advanced (assuming they're free) on my next day off and have them run the code. If this is scheduled maintenance I would like to go ahead and address it anyway. So do I drain the radiator (if its not green) and replace it with fresh coolant? Then I could change the fuel filter and that takes care of both of these issues? I've had the truck for 40k miles and I've only changed the oil with high mileage castrol and I put new tires on her about 30k ago. She needs some love. Any other maintenance y'all would suggest? Thanks for the friendly advice, this community is truly great!! -Chase
  8. Hello to all, I have to address some routine maintenance on the ol girl (131k miles). Jiffy lube ran the service engine codes a few months ago and told me it's a radiator flush and a fuel system cleanout. Does anyone have an advice on how to perform these yourself? I've never had to do either to a vehicle and I would like to save a few bucks if I have the ability to do them myself. I believe Jiffy-lube wanted 200 bucks to do both. If i can save some money a lift isn't too far off my future. Chase
  9. Which could have happened as it was 9 am and we were driving back from Ocean City after celebrating his 21st... Many thanks to fast food breakfast and all that grease!
  10. I honestly don't know. I though it was odd that both are out and I was fearing it was some kind of short somewhere. I'm replacing the other one tomorrow so I guess I'll find out if it just happened to be coincidence that both are out or if I do have some kind of electrical issue somewhere (knock on wood) I didn't know that I had brake light issues until my buddy happened to be following behind me in a rain storm a few days ago and he noticed that my tail lights worked but not my brake lights.
  11. So I hate to admit it, but it turned out that both bulbs went at the same time. I found an extra bulb laying around the house that matched and voila, my brake light worked. The only noticeable marking on the bulb that was burnt was a very faint smoke discoloration on the bulb, something i missed last night while checking them with a flashlight. Thanks for the responses gents! -Chase
  12. The tail lights do work just not the brake lights. The filaments seem to be fine but I might try just replacing the bulbs anyways to be sure. I read online that some Japanese car manufactures use a brake light control module that is sometimes wired separately from the third brake light. Does the pathfinder have one of these? I've never heard of such a thing. Thanks
  13. My lower brake lights on my 2002 Pathfinder are not working, however the third brake light (center light) does. I've checked the fuses, bulbs, and even the wires coming out of the tail light assembly for fear I may have pinched one a while back when I installed a rear view camera but all seems to be fine. I've seen some suggestions regarding the brake switch attached to the brake pedal but I don't think this would be the problem if my third brake light is still operational. Any advice would be helpful Cheers, Chase
  14. I think i have decided to send the hubs back, and use the money for something I can use now. When I'm back working again and i have the money to both afford new wheels and the hubs, I might start again. Being I don't NEED the hubs immediately, I can do with out them and with the money. Such a bummer though, my first real mod and I hit a money-road block. Oh well, I guess my pathy can enjoy another few months of being stock...
  15. I know a local guy with a machining tool but he's sick and cannot work for a couple of weeks but he still has not said whether or not he has the capability of doing it. The problem is after demounting my rims from the tires and paying the machinist I would be out more than what I paid for the hubs. I'm starting to think i might just wait until i can afford new rims and kill two birds with one stone.
  16. Thanks for the input both of you. I have thought of the idea of finding some used wheels to run. I was considering the titan wheels and tires (with some cutting probably) but my only concern being that I have a six hour commute between my home and where I go to school which I take every month or so and I would rather being doing that on the brand new rubber I just bought which are some nicely treaded at's. I guess I have to search for some 17's in that case and swap them.....oh decisions. Modding your truck should not be like this...too many options, not enough money. Keep the comments and suggetions coming, very much appreciated -Chase
  17. So for christmas I finally received my first real "mod" for my Pathy: warn manual locking hubs. I have done some looking around and asked a few questions in the forum and have found out that my stock 17" LE wheels will not fit over the new hubs. I have a questions/concerns/possibilities that I need some insight on . 1). I do not want to buy new wheels because that is money I dont have right now so that is out of the question 2). Is boring my wheels out the only way for this to work? I read somewhere (toyota site) that sometimes wheel spacers can be used but I doubt this, still a thought.... 3). The bore size I have been told is 4 inches...is this correct? 4). Has anyone done this process on any of their vehicles and more specifically these wheels? Pictures maybe with the hubs installed and the 17's would be nice. 5). And if I decide to go this route, do I need any other parts to make this work? I do not know much about this process and I'm still searching for a machinist that can do this for me. Any other tips would be greatly appreciated and some encouraging words would be nice as well. Thanks in advance, Chase
  18. Yea, I've giving it some thought and i think it would be easier to run with a aftermarket one. I think its possible but i dont think i have the time and patience to deal with it all. O well a an can dream at least......
  19. I think the nav unit should be disc run? Not 100% sure. And your the man, you have given me exactly the info i needed. This could be a lengthy project.......the wheels are spinning
  20. So my buddy has upgraded his factory Bose headunit with navigation to an aftermarket one with (and honestly) less features but he wanted an upgraded stereo. I was curious if by some miracle that his 07 Bose would fit into my 02 pathy...... I know this is a long shot but its been on my mind for a little while. My truck has the bose headunit and i think it would look sweet with the bose with built in Nav. I'm gonna guess that it's not plug and play because it's never that easy but my real question would be if it's possible? I can solder and im good electrically so if i had to splice it together is there some miracle that the thing would work? Or are those headunits just too different to be able to do that. And his headunit looks wider than my stock din so i might have to dremel a little but im not that worried, i'm more concerned with the electrical part of it. Also is there a good online reference for the wiring guides for factory bose systems for nissans? I googled but couldnt hit on anything (like a 10 minute search). Opinions? Advice? Information? -Chase
  21. When i picture a 4runner, i picture this style. Thats an instant classic in my opinion. I had a 3rd gen before i upgraded to the pathy and both are very good vehicles. Were a toyota family at heart but now with a Nissan I can go both ways haha. Awesome conversion though. When it warms up, have fun taking her top off!! -Chase
  22. I guess i could share some secrets......However southern BBQ recipes are what do you say....Coveted? haha We make it 8 gallons or so at a time, but you could reduce it, unless you love BBQ sauce. I have to wait till the summer time though to gain access to the recipe book, the boss keeps it in the safe......but i do know the ingredients just not the exact quantities
  23. haha i manage a barbeque shack in the summer and we smoke around 2000lbs of pork a week, 500 lbs of chicken, and 600 lbs of baby back ribs....with made from scratch sauce of course....
  24. I consider Scrapple the second best breakfast meat, aside from bacon of course . Just refrain from reading the label before you eat it if you have a weak stomach! Its delicious I promise. And that spread of smoked goodness looks like it came from the Gods......especially that blue moon
