  1. I am getting more and more into finding those trails that no one else takes. Miles away from any one else. No cellular reception. You know the rest. My point is before you head out into the great out doors just stop for a moment and ask what would you do if something happened. It could be a mechanical break down, or you could break a leg or who knows what else. What would you do? I carry with me lots of tools, recovery straps, come-a-longs. For personal safety I have sleeping bags, tarps, extra clothes. I also just bought a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB). This is my "worse case" help. It works with satelites. So the idea is once activated it beams a signal to a satelite (not private) a government one. Which then automatically get sent to SAR Headquarters in Toronto with my GPS coordinates. Based on my location it then gets sent to my local SAR coordination center (for me it is Comox BC. Canadian Forces SAR), They then start the logistic of helping me. Contacting RCMP my local civil SAR and what ever else is needed. Depending on many things. Help could on the road within a half an hour of me pushing the button. I paid 250.00 CAD but there is no subscription. Battery apparently last about 5 yrs. Its the same idea as a aircraft ELT. Except you have to push the button. In addition I also carry a scanner, GPS, First AId, hunting knife, matches. I would hate to know of any of you all really not being prepared and having a bad situation turn worse. So just think about it. How prepared are you when it happens?
  2. This is a great example of how useful this forum and website is. I had the same problem. My window was so slow. I suffered with it for a long time in fear of having to rip the whole door apart to fix it and maybe spend another hundred to fix it. Blah... Blah... Blah... Had a left over can of silicone in the basement that I used previously some where else. Put the window down all the way. Sprayed it in the tracks. And it worked. Thanks to person that shared the secret. Silicone. Ya... Baby!!!!!!! Cheers
  3. Wow, Fabrication is done. GO TIME. Just started installing my SFD. End ride will be 6.5" higher than before.

  4. I would suggest again checking to see if your policy would cover your upgrades. I would want to know if it was stolen or recked would the insurance settle on the basis of it be stock ? Or would they consider the lift and stereo as a reason to give you more money ? Also A very important thing to consider or ask is are you covered when your off road ? See here in BC if I am off-road (non public roads) my collision will not cover me for any claims. I still have my liabliity and comprehensive but no collision coverage. (Collision coverage is for damage to your vehicle that your at fault for causing, Comprehensive is for fire, theft, fall objects) I wonder how many aren't aware of this exclusion in auto insurance ?
  5. I can only speak for out here in BC in such a case your insurance wouldn't be affected. I sell insurance here in BC and so I say this with great confidence. I highly suspect your safe in not expecting an increase. Always best to touch base with your broker there in Quebec though.

^ good advice. I got scraps at a welding shop, and when I told them it was for practicing they were happy to help.

  7. You know I put manuals on mine. Cant say I have noticed any mpg diff. Hope ya find otherwise. Cheers

  8. I ordered a set of wj coils today. Going to be interesting. I went 6.5 in. I carry a lot of weight around with me in the cargo area and back seat for camping and hiking. So with that in mind I am expecting my new trim height to be 5 in. or 4. 5 in. I also went with Rancho RS9000Xl adjustible shocks for a 2001 F350. They fit perfectly and am more than satisfied with them especially the adjustibility part. When they say you can adjust the ride they really mean it in a noticable way. Also working on a 4 .5 SFD lift. for the front. I am using a high strength plastic for an adapter between the pathy lower coil perch and the first coils. Its UHMV and can be milled with a wood router. Cuts down on paying the welder man.
  9. Just order 6.5 lift coils for the pathy. Wohoo.
