You asked for pics, so here you go, some of these are old dirty POS's that I got when I was very young, my favorites are the Spyderco, Emerson, Kershaw, I like name brand knives mostly although I have some cheap copies of more expensive knives like the copy of the Microtech Halo OTF, and the all plastic assisted opening knife is pretty cool supposed to be metal detector proof , don't want to try it !!:

  3. you may have been familiar with a magazine called "off duty", i started an old ad's thread on the boombox forum and someone posted about 8 pages showing all kind of boomboxes from an issue of "off duty" which I was told was a military magazine

  4. make fun if you like ( I don't care,lol) but if I wanted to I could turn around and sell my Aiwa in the last pic for about $700 any day of the week, there def. is a huge market for these classics!!

     

    No Adidas, I was a Nike Air wearer back in the day, lol

     

    No break dancing clothes but plenty of music from that era, we even had a professional photographer at this years meet who is working on a boombox book, he also took the cover photo for Time magazine that covered 9-11

     

    the first pic under 2009, the 2 boomboxes on the right that are the same except for the color, are from Germany and typically go for about $1500 !! if you could find one that is.

     

    But I am not a collector like some of my buddies, I have the Aiwa I bought new ( which is rare to still own after 28 years!!), I have another big Aiwa I bought on E-bay for cheap and a 3rd little one a friend gave me after the 2009 meet, some of these guys have in the hundreds, one guy has about 50 of the same exact one and they are all mint!

     

    Oh, I also collect Knives but no pics yet.

  6. sorry if this was mentioned but I didn't see anything about this, Has anyone considered drilling a hole in the side where the bushings/pin goes and screwing a Zerk fitting in so grease can be added later??

    still think a Zerk fitting would be better

  7. the ball joint spacer welded in I guess was just the first way they figured out how to get some lift out of the Nissan front end (at a reasonable cost as I'm sure there were custom race style arms available for a long time), I have seen other companies (all long closed down) way back in the day doing the same thing. The newer tubular UCA's eliminate the spacer by changing the angle that the ball joint sits at in the UCA and thereby eliminates the need for the spacer. If you think about the design, cranking the torsion bars is what provides the lift by moving the lower control arm down, of course the upper control arm has to follow since they are connected by the spindle, so cranking the bars with stock parts limits the amount of lift because the upper arm will hit the bumpstop sooner, guess that's why people started replacing the bump stop with lower profile ones. Anyway, throw a spacer in and it allows the UCA to be moved lower providing more lift. Of course we know what happens when you crank the bars too far as far as the ride and cv angles are concerned.

     

    the colored arms and available at no extra cost too!! what a deal!! Anyone compare the prices to today's parts yet? The price lists I posted are jobber price sheets from my old job.

  8. I wouldn't consider using the factory shock, I used to tell people all the time the first thing to replace on any new truck is the shocks, most of the stock shocks are usually garbage. I had a rancho single stabilizer on my 87 Hardbody but as koveman said about his and I agree even with the Rancho I didn't notice any difference

  9. car is a 90 but the sport seats would have been found in a 88 sentra hatchback, a lot better than how it was when I got it, here's a couple pics for comparison:

    it was supposed to be a temp vehicle as I was getting rid of my 2001 dakota 4x4 (that replaced my 87 Hardbody 4x4, mistake that was!!!), I needed to find a car in 2 days to get to work and I limited my search to Nissan's cause that's what I like and am familiar with. The sentra was to be just a car to drive until I found another Nissan 4x4 pickup but couldn't find the one I wanted reasonably priced, just recently got my 94 pathfinder from a co-worker, it needed an engine and also got it for $500.

  10. I've seen the mount your talking about but don't recall ever seeing a truck that had a factory steering stabilizer. Most aftermarket stabilizers don't use that bracket anyway. When you install larger tires and wheels than stock they tend to emphasize any weaknesses you may have in your front end. larger tires will normally raise havoc over time on the Nissan front end so make sure to check your ball joints and idler arm, did you get it re-aligned after switching to the new tires?

I'm not as much a collector as some of the guys I've met on the boombox forum I belong too, but we have had 3 meets so far, all 3 I hosted here in Florida at my clubhouse where I live, last meet this past March we had a couple fly over from Germany, ,members came from NY,NJ, chicago, Tenn, Alabama all over, here are some pics:

  14. No problem, I like posting old stuff like this for the younger generation to see, you should see my thread in the boombox forum that I belong too, it's about 5 pages longer than this one just with old ad's and stuff!!

     

    that's what I said in that thread, but I think I remember way back that Automotive customizers bought all of JCR's inventory when they closed shop. Just found out last night the JCR is still in the race business but not with Nissans.

    On my 87 Hardbody I had the reinforced uca's with the optional mounts to use triple shocks with the hoops, I had a lot of stuff from this catalog back in the day. I'll have to check in storage but I think I still have the dual shock mounts for the rear don't know if they would work on the pathfinder though.
