  2. yea i ment the droping the front end if it owuld have a diff being a manual compared to my auto. you defintaly have a lot more to pull out of the bay. so i might be able to have a go at it wiht all that still inplace. hummmmm might go the long way and disconect it all just cause its my first time doing this.
  3. you have an auto or manual would it make a diff? i think i have enough extensions to reach that far did not think of that. huh. lol
  4. axle was wrong word sorry i ment the front differentail. my appalogies. how the heck did you get in there to disconnect the stupid pies then? i tried and tried but teh bolts are damn near impossible to move. think there is room to unbolt at Y? then worry about them after its out? i am waiting for slick to get back to me on that one and am sure i will get a message from her here tonight some time. water pump is also on my list forgot that as is the tensioner i need to write all this down. ben
  5. so i finally dug into my engine yesterday. I have been getting tons of help from Slick (thanks) and just kinda tearing it apart piece by piece. so here is what i have done so far. Yesterday. took top of intake off labeled all wiring connected to engine. removed radiator removed fan/shroud (which pretty much shattered when i dropped it on the ground) removed the distributer also inspected the valves and found none to be broken or any reminance of metal in the valve area. (poor wording i know) Today disconnected fuel lines (forgot to lable durrrr it was early ok) removed the injectors removed the bottom half of the intake (did not know i needed that yesterday) removed the altenator (replacing with new /maybe bigger one) removed power steering pump (well half way cant get second hose off) got all the belts off (all worn to bits) drained the oil drained the tranny (just to be safe would not mind changing it any way) disconnected the heater hoses so now i am pretty much at a stand still for a few days untill i can get a puller and a stand. few questions though need a pic or discription of where the starter is at? am i disconnecting the exhaust at the manifolds or at the Y-pipe? best way to clean the crap outa the engine? all metal parts to new or close to new looking. would like to paint it a navy blue. how far do i need to drop the front diff for the oil pan to clear? things to replace; A\C Belt Fan Belt PWR STeering Belt Timing Belt Timing tensioner (pending) Water pump Rear main seal oil pan seal intake seals valve cover seals cam seals ben
  6. though the auto's are good to have if your a newbie to wheeling and are not always sure if you can make it through in 2WD. and well us teens we are just kinda lazy too. lol.

  10. so..... intake TBI (sensor?) EFI (sensor?) water pump timing belt cam seal rear main seal other seals? i dont know what the other typical changes would be guys. altenator? wireing?
  11. I need to know exactly what parts i need to remove from my old 1992 VG30E engine inorder to replace it with a 1987 VG30E engine. If you have pictures of what and where they are that would be even better. i have searched and all i get is intake. there has to be more that i need to change over. i think maybe i am wrong shooting in the dark here though guys. ben
  12. so can i take these items: cam gears, tensioner, and the crank sproket, off of a 100K compatable engine and put them on my engine?
  13. possible to switch a 60K unit over to the 100K belt unit? the engine would be an 87 or 88 VG30E. with 160K mile on it now. ben
  14. ok so i got part way down to the timing belt today. did not do nothing with it and could not get the cover all the way off but from what i could feel the timing belt still has tension and is intact. i am getting a hard knocking noise when i turn the key now. so my next job is the rods. any advice here? this is pretty damn easy thanks for the support guys lol. ben

  17. so there is no way to take a complete 3.3 engine and just drop it in to my truck. no diving into the crankshaft and what not? how hard would it to be to rewire the ECU for the 3.3? (put the ecu from a 3.3 in my truck removing the old 3.0 ECU)
  18. and what would that entail? i do not have the money to get a tranny as well. i am happy with power just not MPG. i just need a new one. ben
  19. so over all for a newbie it would be easier to just drop in a replacement engine that is the same kind.
  20. ok 88 i read the whole freaking article. front to back. even the ones digusing the mods not related to engine parts. i gathered that i want a VG33E block. what exactly is intailed in the block? pistons? or what? did slick do a write up of her engine replacement?
  21. ok so as many of you know i blew my engine or may have or what ever. but i am going to replace the engine. now i want to do as some sugested i should, and put an engine from a 96 and up pathy in to my 92. i have no clue what i should be looking for to buy this engine. do i need just a block? what about conecting it to the tranny? all help is greatly appreciated. i am searching but having little luck. if i find info i will post it up to confirm it with any questions i may have. Slick any thing you have to say on this is a huge asset. ben
  22. it was my neighbor who is a mechanic and my grandfather who said that it would most likely be a thrown rod. i would never say what it is for a fact. and if you wanna send me 100 bucks to get it looked at then i will take it to them.

(at least i tried) but all non essential parts i am willing to remove and sell you all. (interior) so if you need something let me know.
  24. ok well i have already disconected one adjusment pully for the AC. and the radiator is drained and partly disconnected. i just cant get it out. along with the fan shroud. can not figure out how to get them out. but if you wanna come by and take a listen your free to. i have school but my dad is always here. he could take you out and have a look. side note------I am still trying to sell the truck. but am wanting to fix her to have as a dayly driver kinda thing. but i am going to make the attempt to fix it.
