  1. ok so i am at the point that i am stuck hard core. i need to know if there is a pilot bushing on the automatic set up. i know there is one on the manuals but is the crankshaft and what not differant when comparing the auto set up to the manual set up. i am going to take a more indepth look at the crank here in a bit but dont want to proceed with out some info. ben
  2. i am stuck and dont know where to even begin to start asking questions i emailed sammyb33 so if still need help i will call in the troops (you guys lol)
  3. i am sure you could figure out a way to get it in with out removing the air duct but i was having a really hard time of it. it would not pivot the correct way. you are removing the brake and replacing that as well right? other wise the clutch and brake will interfear with one another.
  4. for the pedal and cradle assebly yes you can do it with out removing the dash. but i had to remove (permanently) the driver side air duct. but it will go in lol. i just plugged it and now dont have air on my side oh well. and as slick is saying wishfull thinking on sliding it straight on in.
  5. just swap the sensors from the hardbody over i think
  6. ok sorry bout the long time since the update but i have finally gotten the tranny out. i have the pedals in and the lines ran. i still need to get the torque converter off the engine and then bolt up the clutch and flywheel. then the new tranny goes in. i also need to redo my exhaust though before i get the new tranny in because its completly shot to hell. thinking pacesetters (per sammyb33) and 2.5 inch pipeing. muffler i have not decided on yet, also thiking a dual exhaust (just cause i think its cool)
  7. damn skippy if it dont say pathfinder then it aint one. even if some parts are interchangable, they use the same manul to work on em and are made by nissan. the X well its a little brother to the orriginal pathy no way round it.
  8. smart move my man. let us know how it turns out. if your at the water pump you may want to replace that and the timing belt as well if you do not know how many miles are on it. then make sure you watch for 60,000 to do them again.
  9. can we define camber. i was going to be posting about this same thing here in a little while i am making a little thing that would show the derees from zero i am at while wheeling and what not.
  10. Tranny Conversion photo album OK so here are the pics i took today. its a public link to my facebook album, photobucket was not working lol. but any way each has a caption i am really woundering what all the plugins are on the auto and the manual :help: . most em as captions are quesitons. if yall can answer em for me i would be greatly appreciative  . thanks guys.
  11. i can get my key out of the ignition no problem and the auto shifter is disconnected and the battery is removed. ande it does have the little push button to get it out. for the torsion bars. no it took 4 hours of actuall work plus a few hours of asking questions and stuff. they were rusted and had absolutly no grease left in them. i got some pics today and i will post em up on photo bucket tonight with a link.
  12. well i will be taking some pics tomorrow i found a girl at work who will let me borrow her camera. i need to get in touch with her to make sure she brings the cords with her as well. other wise the camera is kinda usless lol. but my lip is doing much much better.
  13. ok so as some of you know i started an Automatic to Manual Tranny swap this week. I have literly been getting off work and going straight out there. i freakin resorted to a spot light, space heater and tarps, enclosing the underside of the truck, to do my work in the dark. But i figured i would let ya'll know how i was doing and the snags i have had so far. So the first day i spent removing all the interior stuff i dont need. IE: center counsole, auto shifter, and the floor plate for the automatic. once i finished there i went and started on jacking the truck up for room and the front drive shaft. i got the front one out and stopped cause i was getting cold and was not as motivated as i am now. then the next day i started on the torsion bars. those are all i got removed the second night. took near four hours and was just too pissed off to keep going lol. then tonight i started back up with a vengence to make up for lost time. i began with emptying the tranny fluid. and the oil. Then i removed the rear drive shaft. dropped it on my face. nice big fat lip now. Next i proceeded to disconnect the tranny cooler lines. and then the tranny electrical. dropped the front drive shaft all the way out as well. (was sitting there cause of the torsion bars preventing the final drop) on the electrical i found that they were way differant compared to my 4 speed in the 92. there are two big plug ins on the driver side with two wires comming out a piece. and then two small plug ins on the passenger side wiht two wires a piece comming out. the driver side wires were intact and solid. but the pass side was a mess. one plug was completly disconnected (not by me) and then the other had only one wire still in it the other was broke about an inch up the line. so between myself and sam we do no think that these could be the cause for the no forward gears problem. but if any one was a comment here let me know. any way.... after dissconecting the wires and plugs from the tranny i went to work on the exhaust. took about twenty min with a hack saw to just cut it out. (gonna just get it redone at the welding shop once i am done) then i went to work on the tranny to engine bolts. i got a total of five out. two short ones two long ones and one that is between the short and long one so i guess medium in length. lol. i know pics. thursday i am going to try and reach that last bolt and slide it on out. wel will see though.
  14. exactly why i oppeted to buy a new truck and part out the 92.
  15. FIX THE HEAD GASKET IT WILL COST LESS THAN A SWAP. gotta read what these guys tell ya. listen to em they are intellegent people here
  16. ok so quick edit got em out today. took them out with the x member unccpathfinder said. tomorrow i start on the rear drive shaft it dont want to budge either. then just the tranny to work on. bolts to the engine and the wiring.
  17. ok so me and sammyb33 have looked for this write up and cant find it. i need to know how to remove my torsion bars to get the ranny out. Nissan said that i could just take the torsion bars and the xmember out all as one unit to eliminate the need for realigning. is this possible? and pics with them cool little arrows and circles you guys do all the time would be awsome. thanks guys. ben
  18. ok thanks guys i think it may have been an 87 not a 97 how about that swap? ben
  19. all i need is a yes or no? they are both auto. then will a 92 auto go into a 97 auto? ben
  20. i just bought my pathy and i decided i was bored no insurance or tags. so i took it over to this little mud hole area (huge ruts and holes and mud pit like no other) i saw the hole knew about the 4x4 and heard some pretty good stories about the pathies and so i put it in 4hi and guned it from like sixty feet out. slammed into that hole and stopped. guess what i forgot about......manual hubs. lol. yea so i had to call my daddy to come and pull me out. yea for chevy i guess. never did that again. made it through that same hole about a week later got a pic with the splash going ten to fifteen feet above the top of her. sweet days i wish she had not died but its on to a new project and a new pathy when i can get some money.
  21. no no lol sorry the gasket set cost me $94. srry for the confusion lol ok so what i know about the engine is this; about 160K on it, "The problem was the throttle position sensor the motor had good compression when tested about 150psi in each cylinder", "The problem I had was with the TBI (throttle body injection) which has been installed in my new engine. You will be using your multi point fuel injection, which has all the sensors my problem was with a sensor." those are quotes from emails he sent me. he never said anything about the key way or anything. he said that when he put his new used engine into his truck that it was doing the same thing as the older engine. he said he cant guarantee the engine but only that it turned over and ran (but like crap believed to be caused by the TBI). thats why only $100. ben ps has any one looked at that link i posted of the would be tensioner. i am not sure if thats the correct part. let me know please.
