Here is where I moved my liscense plate to.
-
Yep, I have a 2" body lift.
-
Here is what I got done today.
It's 52 3/4" long by 8" tall. I have 3/8" thick plates being cut for the ends. Once they are done and welded on it will be 53" long and stop at the edge of the tail lights. As soon as I get the plates welded on I can do the corners. I designed the plates to bolt together but I think once I get it all made I might weld the 2 ends on.

A tree grabbed my bumper on a latenight wheeling trip. It ripped the metal where the vehicle mount is. I think it would be too big of a pain in the ass to fix. So----
I am going to make a new bumper using this.
I was thinking something alot like this.
I will keep you guys posted.

Any ideas on a good set of lights at a good price.
-
I made a spacer and welded it to the bar. Then I drilled down into the bar and bumper. I just bolted it to the bumper.
-
I made a light bar out of 1" conduit today. I needed something to cover the gap left from the body lift. It only took about 3 hours to do. Now I need some lights.
let me know what you think (good or bad).

I found these on amazon. I think it will be easier to install. I will let you know as soon as I get them.

I looked all over the site and can't find anything on this. I was at the garage yesterday getting the old girl inspected. I noticed that when it was up on the lift the drive line was laying on the cross member. Has anybody had this happen and if so how did you fix it? Also I remember seeing on here somewhere about the pan hard bar rubbing the shock. Any ideas on a fix?

Here is the passenger side frame with the patches not welded in
-
WOW!!! That's some amazing work. That frame is probably the worst I've ever seen and now it looks new again!! That's some magic right there. How did you do that? Some 3/8 sheet metal wrapped around the old frame?
I cut out the frame rail top to bottom and from the body mount by the rear doors all the way out the back. I used 10 gauge steel to make the patches and welded them in.
-
Chop out the bad stuff, chop a new section out of a junker, weld it up? With a little grinding/putty you could get it looking right again. How's the spot under your rear seats? If it's holey too, might as well cut both patches at the same time.
Your rust makes me feel much better about mine!
Before/after (different sides, same deal):
Left this alone until I can weld it myself:
Rear floor (don't have a before pic, but I could put my fist through it):
Under the rear pass. seat and the floor board were both rusted out. I don't have any pics of the fix yet.

Lets see your fixes
rust around a body mount
Rusted drivers side
Rusted pass side
How do I fix this?
-
After 2 weeks of working on rust she runs again. I have 1 little spot up near the body mount by the drivers door. Then I need to tighten up the gas tank and do a little rework to my bumper. Then it's off to get inspected. I know what it looks like under the flares. It's not too bad there are a couple spots on the body that I need to fix. But I'm gonna wait to see what Santa brings. There may be a lift kit coming my way.

I got my wire and finished this mess
It's all one peice now
-
Started to weld up the pass side frame and ran out of wire. It's put on hold for now
-
I made this
Look like this (the red paint is just to cover it until I get some undercoat)
Now I have to fix this
-
This is one of the bad spots in my frame. It is under the rear door on the pass side.
The section I cut out.
All better. 1 down many more to go
-
Does your frame have bolted on patches lol?
Yeah it does. Thats getting fixed.
-
how bad does that rattle against the bumper or do you have it hung in the rear with a hardmount hanger?
The tip is welded solid to the bumper and the tail pipe is clamped to a peice on the inside. It does rattle on the frame a little but it's in the works to get fixed.
-
I moved my exhaust so I don't smash it again.
-
Mine were $20.00 a piece.
-
I went to scrap yard and got a "oh crap" handle and a switch for the rear glass. Mine wouldn't close all the way, everytime I hit a bump my window would pop open. I also seen a hardbody with manual hubs. I got home put on my "oh crap" handle on the drivers side and did some reserch and found out that the hardbody hubs would fit the pathy. I ran back to scrap yard and got hubs. Now the old girl has manual hubs. Now no more pulling forward then going backward and going forward to get out of 4 wheel drive.
