Your Pathfinder Info
Bought it from a friend earlier this year for $750. All it needed was tiress and registration. Pretty sweet if I do say so myself.

T.O.B. could definately be it. Check to see if you main seal is still good. Look for leaks etc that don't come from normal places. You may be getting a leak that is putting fluid into the clutch. I had a similar problem on a non-Nissan vehicle a few months ago. It started like you describe but it got worse and more frequent. I hope it turns out to be less of an issue that mine did.

Maintenance is pretty key too. I know we all love out Pathy's but I know some people who push the oil-change envelope a bit too far. I average 17 city/19-20 hwy. Yes it's the 3.0. Not heavy-footed but not "Granny Featherfoot" either. Some folks forget about all those little fluids and wires and spark plugs and let that kill their mileage. But it's still a b***h to fill up at $3 a gallon, regardless of how far you can go.

Damn! That even beats my deal. Some people have all the luck.

This is much much closer, Vox. Is that close to the font or is that the actual one? Thanks. It is definetly between this and the one on my av.
-
So I am working on getting the "Beerfinder" logos made for Daisy. The only workable font I have found so far is the one in my avatar. But that font is from '96 on. Anyone know what font to dl or look for on the web? Maybe someone has a .gif or a .jpg that I can work with. I can photochop anything and I know using the name "Beerfinder" aint exactly original, but I want some authenticity. Can anyone help?

And the old "whack it with a hammer" trick works wonders on any vehicle, from a Geo Metro to a Peterbuilt tractor. It's just that the solinoid (sp?) is shot. You NORMALLY have to have someone crank on the key while you bang away. At least that is what I remember from an old Impala I had.

Buddy of mine years ago had an RX7 with a tri-tone airhorn. It was hooked to his alarm too. Took us all of 2 hours to install. It came with its own canister/minicompressor. As soon as I find it it is going in the BEERFINDER. I hate that "MEEP MEEP" sound too. But the local [insert quippy parts store name here] parts store should have something. Though it is fun to do custom stuff sometimes a simple bolt-on is the answer.

Believe me I know. My bro is a wrench-twister down in Austin. I don't mind payin for a tranny over-haul or something like that but a $12 switch just gets my goat.
-
Yeah. It's looking like that is what I will have to do. Local wrench twisters are charging 75 to 100 bones an hour to put in a $12 part. And access under the shifter boot ain't happenin either.

never thought about coming in from the top. Will have to look into that tomorrow. Old switch was trash. When I put the new one in it worked just fine "testing" it with the thumb. (Imagine this: Disconnect old switch from harness and connect new. Lay under the truck and have the wife start the Pathy. She then gets out and stands at the rear while I use my thumb to press the button in the new switch, under the Pathy). Will see if the boot is an option. Will removing the crossmember/lowering tranny be a bitch or is it pretty simple?

This may sound odd, especially from a noob, but did you check you fusible links? You should have at least one connected to the Hot side of your battery. Mine has one that was loose and about once out of every 15 or 20 starts it would do what you are describing. I would just pop the hood, grab the link, and wiggle (insert joke here). I would hear a series of clicks and all would reset. Clock, radio, dummy lights would all reset. Mine was just a matter of getting it tight to the connection and securing the battery. The strap was missing on the battery and once everything was fastened down all was fine. Just my $.02. Dan

So the reverse light switch is out on the BEERFINDER. Got a new one for less than 20 bones. Disconnected the old one, plugged the new one in and had the wife stand behind it to see if it worked with I hit the button with my thumb (It's not in the tranny yet, just plugged into the wiring harness). Reminder: manual tranny. I CAN'T GET A FREAKIN' WRENCH IN THAT TINY SPACE TO SAVE MY LIFE!!!!! Is there anything I can do besides dropping the tranny or taking it to a garage at 30 bones an hour for labor? I hate payin' those guys! Anyone else dealt with this? Any advise to save some bucks? Thanks, Dan

I noticed mention of noise. So mine ain't the only one then. Glad to know it. When my fan is engaged you can hear it a block away, literally.

Busted knuckles is right. And getting it back on the water pump...JEEZ!!! Not only are those 10mm nuts hard to keep a hold on but getting them to thread was probably the worst part of it. I had to dig them out of the skid plate 3 times after dropping them. I still have to post pics too.
