yeap that'd be it, damn thing the bracket busted off, got moved alittle bit and beat up hell on my steering stabilizer, almost punctured the shock so from what ya'll saying not that useful to really have or just being that the bracket is broken, would it be ok to just get a replacement bracket?
-
So went to swap my alternator today when i noticed that the linked bar that runs from the lower control arms on each side of the vehicle and are attached to the center frame via 2 brackets, one the brackets that hold it to the frame was completely snapped off, went to look in Chilton onto what the part was and found it only referred to as a stabilizer for the front, it's the long link lower to the center link. Any ideas what else this would be called? Thanks ahead of time, i'll get pictures if i can when i get home

gonna be puttin on new ez boots to replace my torn new ones, been without good ones for awhile so gotta grab a grease gun and get'r all pretty. my only worry is that alotta dirt/gravel etc has gotten up in there and id like to clean it up real good before i put in the new grease. Any suggestions to clean it out without having to pull out the entire joint? thanks ahead of time

Replacing Upper Coolant Bypass Hose....driving Me Insane!
ShadowManR6 replied to crystallinesheen's topic in The Garage
ya mine just blew on me 2 weeks back, was a b**** to get on, cracked 2 other old hoses just trying to get to it, might try stickin it under hot hot water see if it'll loosen it up alittle make it easier to slip on, it took me 2 days before i finally got it on completely. -
when we changed out the pipe we checked the oil and wasn't discolored (was told it would be like a milky white if it got mixed) and from the anti freeze that we've seen it all seems to be normal.

like a loud puffing of air, in short bursts, thub thub thub, more i accelerate faster it thubs. As if i just went through a big puddle of water and it shot up into the engine compartment and got sucked into like the airfilter possibly, but i checked my filter and what not, and no antifreeze color in it whatsoever, what else could have possibly got filled or got water into it? could have gotten on distributer and maybe messed up one the spark plugs?

well finally got the hose replaced last night, no leak (w00t). But after the truck overheated and started spewing the coolant it started getting a slight chug, now after ive replaced the hose i get a very constant chug, especially with the acceleration of the vehicle which actually causes it to accelerate extremly slowly as well as the loud chugging/vibration it causes, from what i can tell it seems to be coming partially from the muffle but possibly something else is chugging inside the vehicle as well. if i sit idle or accelerate very very slightly and slowly the slight chug is still present but doesn't seem to be quite as heavy as when i full on accelerate.

it sure is, thanks so much, time to get my truck back on the road rofl, this 100+ degree weather is killin me

What is the hose called that comes out of the top of the thermostat to the outlet in an 87" pathy, checked my chilton and alldata had no luck finding the name.

im assuming if i have just stock stuff of XE it doesn't have a LSD?

I've been gettin some weird bumpiness in my rear when i take fast turns, thinking the fact that the fluids in the rear diff have never been changed may be the first step in finding a solution, now how exactly, and what do you use to do this , couldn't really find anything in the forum on it, manuals/links are awesome '87 pathy xe, no rear diff mods, stock. Thanks
-
since the subject was brought up, i have an '87 pathy, wondering what's the reason behind removing the rear sway bar
-
useing a rancho stabilizer, i gotta get outside and give a looksie tho

ya the shocks and what not all are new, since i just put in less then a month ago. went to throw it in 4wheel for the first time since the popping, short turns were no problem, made a hard left and my drivers side got extremely bad popping, and wheel stiffined really bad, couldn't get it to almost turn, had to reverse outta 4wheel then move.
-
well the popping didn't start till nissan attempted to try and an align it, in which they had forgotten to retighten the upper link spindle bolts, which were left half way out, and didn't catch till i got home. After that i get popping anytime i turn the steering wheel, regardless the direction, or if i come to a good stop or roll back alittle and then forward to move. the popping mostly seems straight under the drivers side, very rarely in the rear but i could be mishearing, occasionally hear on the passengers side as well.
-
So did some reading on trying to find where the popping is comin from in my front axle when i turn the steering wheel back and forth, pretty much determined it's probably my cv joint going out on me and gonna have to replace, now is there anywhere else i should look at for possible damage? if not, i should just need the halfshaft itself and some grease i assume? also how long can i go without changing these, since alittle short on the cash atm. thanks ahead of time as always you guys are the best!

i defintly like the color and what not for the 93 and the fact that it's 2 door appeals to me, but the newer is kinda pushin on me :*( im pushing just for another pathfinder so i can actually do more serious work on my 87, just a backup in case whatever should happen i have another pathy to start with again
-
went to a nice offroad shop that alotta local guys use, they were saying that with alotta the older nissans the bolts that connect the upper link spindle to the frame are so short it makes it extremely hard to align and put in shims. without chancing that the first bump you hit good won't just strip the whole damn thing out, he told me go to some custom bolt places around town get it a good inch or so longer, so they have more to work with and he can basically gurantee the alignment will work, so guess time to find the strongest metal bolt i can afford to stick in there if they really gotta make it longer like that.
-
im useing the aftermarket UCA's from 4x4parts, i had to crank my bars abit to get to level out enough with the new coils
-
all he told me was that they had it up on the rack and had 2 guys both try and get to align and had no luck =/
-
ive seen acouple posts by people saying theyd prefer the 2door over the 4door whenever they found them but could never really find a reason why, or not that i personally knew.
-
So got 2 local people selling off their pathys and trying decide which would be the better to go with. Me being with the older 87 not too sure what to expect or look for in the 90's versions of the WD21. Both are in great body condition and nothing greatly mechanically wrong that i can't fix/clean up myself, interiors are wonderful, both goin for about 3000. 1995 - White - 4 Door - 119k miles 1993 - Charcoal - 2 Door - 121k miles What your guys ideas/opinions on them? Thanks

So decided to finally go in to Nissan for my alignment after my lift, after 2 days of them dinking with it said they were unable to get it to align right. Now one of my friends had to get a sort of camber kit for his truck after his lift, is there some sort of special kit i need to find for my 87 pathy? or should i head to some the specialty offroad stores in my area and see if they can do the alignment...Any ideas? thanks ahead of time

what's the rear axle that come in an 87 pathy?
-
since the cv boot was mentioned, recently when putting on my SL i noticed that mine was torn on drivers side, and looks as if abit of mud/dirt etc got in there, any special away to clean all that out, and what's the difference between the inner/outer? or suggestions possibly before i go and buy new boot to put on
