  1. I average 19-20 mpg every tank. I usually get 300-310 miles before the gas light comes on...
  2. Well, I'm having them redo my exhaust because it sounds like ricer crap without the resonators. It sounds great above 4krpm, but around 2-3k where I spend most of my driving time, it's too loud and buzzy...
  3. LOL, that's funny. Talk about small world. He's actually the only Mandrel guy I've found in Denver, so maybe that's why. My system, which starts from the exhaust manifold cats and includes new O2 bungs (eastern car with rusted stock exhaust) is ending up around $700. If I had skipped the custom Y-pipe (which I did to try to maintain some torque), and just went with a 2 in / 1 out magnaflow, it would have been much cheaper. What I like about Hank is that he is very up front with you about costs. If you're on a budget, he'll figure out a way to get it done in the most economical way. I needed a new exhaust anyway, so I didn't really mind spending a little extra to get it done EXACTLY the way I wanted. Shoot, we spent 20 minutes just trying to figure out how I'd like the SS tip to be positioned.. Be sure to tell him that I recommended him if you do end up going there... Oh and I pick up the truck today, so I should be able to post some pics and impressions as long as my internet is working at home..
  4. LOL, you should hear it with a K&N CAI.. I always thought it was the intake manifold..
  5. I noticed you're in FT Collins. I am getting my 2002 Pathy done by these guys today: http://www.hanksvillehotrods.com/gui/content.asp They are doing a full mandrel custom Y-pipe to a single in/out Magnaflow 2.5" muffler and SS tip.. It's a bit pricy (hey it's mandrel afterall), but they do excellent work and are awesome to work with...
  6. I am in Colorado! Golden actually. I'd be very willing to lend my truck for a while as I do a ride share to work. I've thought about trying to adapt 350Z headers and making a custom catback to fit, but I'm not so sure about plunking down $650 on a set that "might" fit.
  7. What I want to know is where the hell the option for 2001-2004 VQ35's is... I'd be willing to split with up to $600-800 for a nice set with cats..
  8. you rechecked all connections? sounds like the TPS didn't get plugged back in or something...
  9. Your air filter is much more restrictive than the maf screen, which as someone already pointed out is used to generate a more uniform flow of air across the MAF element. This has been exhaustively discussed on many other forums, and the concensus seems to be that the results can be either good or bad performance wise, but that it will definitely create more error in your air flow reading. The error will increase performance in the instance where the engine is running a bit rich in it's stock state of tune and the error shows less airflow than actual. This will lean your mixture for a more powerful burn. But what happens if the maf error reads more air flow than actual, and the mixture is already rich? That will certainly reduce performance and can even lead to plug fouling. Or what about if your stock tune is on the edge of stoick, and the maf error shows less than actual airflow? Detonation or pre-ignition can result. For me I'd rather have a more consistant fuel reading, and concentrate on other, more proven mods.
  10. That's what I have 255/70/16 REVO's. They're perfect for this truck with the stock setup..
  11. You should be OK. I've got 255/70 16's, and there's still a good bit of room toward the strut. Oh, and my speedo still reads slightly low against those police radar speedos.. I guess it must be really off with the stock tires. Why do you want 265's anyway? 255's are perfect for a 16x7 rim..
  12. what does your alignment printout say? were your tires road-force balanced? if it's a repeatable vibration that happens at a specific speed above 35-40 mph it's most likely the tires. With your lift you probably have some positive camber going on which could cause uneven tire wear and make balancing difficult.
  13. I've been wondering the same thing a lot lately. I'm curious if we can use the Stillen 350Z headers if not for anything more than the flange and collectors. Primary tubes can always be cut and replaced with a pattern that fits the chassis.. Oh, and I thought the secondary cats weren't really cats at all. At least I remember reading something to that effect...
  14. The SAFC wont tell him shiz unless he's got a wideband O2 in at least one manifold. At least take the truck to a reputable dyno tuning shop with experience in SAFC's. The base maps will only get you so far, and with your pre-existing lean condition, they may do more harm..
  15. Looks real nice. What springs did you get for the front (HD or medium)? Also, wouldn't using 3 spacers be the equivalent (in terms of height) of just getting the 2" AC lift? How about camber bolts, any need for them?
  16. if it's really bothering you, go here: http://www.ingallseng.com/parts/81260.htm
  17. Yep, stock bridgestones. They've got 44000 miles on them, and still have maybe 20k more to go before they're due for replacement.. Wear is fairly even, maybe ever so slightly more in the center, but over-inflation is always better than under-inflation in my book.. 32-34 is the lowest I'd ever want to go with these tires.. With my average mileage where it is now I think I'll keep them where they are...
  18. I noticed that tire pressure has a huge effect on my mileage.. I run 38f 36r for best mileage and comfort balance.. I'm kind of anal about my pressures from autoxing though..
  19. I have a 2002 4x4 Auto. Don't know why you guys have such low mileage, but I average 20 mpg (320-340 miles a tank) in the summer and 18 mpg in the winter.. The absolute worst I've ever recorded was 16.5 mpg in the winter using 4wd a bunch.. I guess the 5w30 synthetic does help a bit...
