  1. i'm going to need 4WD this weekend, big snowstorm, so heading north.  The shifter for 4 wheel drive was very stiff (auto hubs).  It engaged fine, but I could only test it briefly...didn't want to take any turns on the pavement.  Granted I do not use 4 wheel a lot, but it's never been that much effort to engage 4 wheel.  Is there a linkage that I can spray or is this a lubrication issue at the hubs?

  2. That lower control arm is a fun one, huh?  I had to do it  twice on my 89 because the first time it squeaked so bad I couldn't take it.  I would use the split urethane bushings for the rear if and when I need to do this on the 92.

  3. I was able to hang the exhaust using the oem hangers on the tailpipe and muffler.  I had to make a new bracket for the tailpipe as the one from the pic on post 6 was obviously not the stock mount.  The stock mount on the muffler was still there.  The shop had welded a hanger to it (like the one in post 6), so I cut that off, drilled a new hole and was good to go.  The forward bracket on the muffler that bolts to the frame is a head scratcher.  Right now I have a makeshift strap.   Pics of these mounting points and stock brackets would still be very helpful, especially the one on the frame.  I ran out of wire welding a flange to the cat, so I will finish that up tonight or tomorrow.  I have an adapter for the other end that I'm going to just clamp and call it good.

I don't have an eBay account, is that the only way to contact him? I went to the link you have in post #20 they didn't show on his site but that probably doesn't mean anything.

I can check the invoice when I get home to see if there is an actual email contact.  My order reference number on Ebay, if you can contact him, is 232495391619.   You may need to create an account to get these things.

  5. A picture of the stock hangers would be very helpful.

I had a custom exhaust shop put the Borla cat back on.  Good work, everything welded nice, no clamps.  For whatever reason it rusted very quickly and basically fell off the truck.  I have the Walker 47752 cat back (Autoplicity - cheapest and fastest delivery I could find) and the Magna Flow 53004 universal cat (Amazon $46).  Since the Custom exhaust place welded everything, I need to replace the cat...no biggie, it's shot anyway.  I may do some welding on the cat (a flange or adapter on the muffler end and a welded butt joint on the other.   I would like to go back to close to stock as possible with the hangers so I ordered the Stock ones Adamzan mentioned (Walker 35126).   I'm trying to avoid welding to the muffler and tailpipe hence the pic would be great.  Here's a pic of the tailpipe hanger that was welded to the tailpipe..I popped it off to paint it:

If I could see  how the stock exhaust is mounted to the frame I can get an idea of what else I need  to mount to those stock hangers I ordered (Walker 35126).  It looks like I just have to cut that hook piece off and use some type of strap.  I could have the exhaust shop weld it up again, but I'm trying to save some cash.

  6. It was the aluminized Borla cat back with the slightly bigger pipes.  Rusted faster than hell.  I remember when it was installed because the Pat's played the Falcons in the Superbowl the next day.

I was hoping for a quick turnaround but it looks like I'm going to have to come up with something for the hangers.

  7. I had an aftermarket exhaust welded in 3 years ago and it's shot.  Going back to stock pipes.  Picked up a universal cat and a stainless steel muffler and tail pipe.  Does anyone have any pics of the exhaust.  I need to go back to the stock hangers. I don't want to Weld anything to the stainless.

  8. Brake cable came in and they are an exact match.  Crawled under the truck and measured the cables, same length.   This thread was all over the place, so to sum things up for someone perusing this thread:

Rear DISC and Rear DRUM are different part numbers.  36530-42G16, 36531-42G16  are the OEM part numbers for the REAR DISC Pathfinders (see post 16,18).  I think the 36530-42G15, 36531-42G15 are the Terrano part numbers.    New cables are hard to come by these days and Rockauto, among others, only carry the cables for the rear DRUMS.   Post 20 illustrates the differences, so make sure you specify the cables you are ordering for the Terrano if ordering from overseas vendor.  Paid $89 delivered for the set.

  9. Well, this was a huge pain in the ass, especially in 25 degree temps, but I'm happy to report that the newer fuel sender works fine in the older Pathfinders.   I bent the copper lines as close as I could to the old ones, but it was still a pain.  I spliced in the new lines in right about at the spot where they make there straight run to the front after the rear wheel.  They looked pretty good running up to the front of the truck from there.  I'll report back after a trip when I can fill it up and see if it's off.   Fyi, If you are under the truck in the rear poking around, the high pressure line is the bottom one.

  10. Here is the comparison between the two units.  As you can see they are very similar, the old one being slightly longer with the float sitting lower.   Given that these go in the same gas tank with the same fuel pump the difference must be at the instrument cluster.  The old trucks have a horizontal gauge while the  newer trucks are vertical.  I think this should work fine and will probably be off an 1/8 of a tank or so.

The FSM procedure for checking fuel pressure has you hook up the gauge between the hose coming off the filter and what looks like the rail, so yeah, I'd say that's your high-pressure supply side.

    Thanks, makes sense.

  12. I had that guage on my 89, haven't thought of that in years.  I pulled a lot of parts off that truck, wish I saved the sending unit.

I'm going to get the new one and find out.  Could benefit someone down the line.....

  13. Thanks, I picked up a double flare kit anticipating changing all brake and fuel lines in the spring.  My brother in law had a roll of 5/16 nickel copper tubing and gave me 10 feet of it... enough for now.  The only thing left is to figure out what connectors I need for the ends?
