  1. I just replaced all four of my speakers. There are a couple of things that can be difficult. On the front doors, the speakers go in easy, but the panels can be tough. They use a special prying tool at the stereo shops. Just be careful, ot the clips will break. Also, I have a 95 SE and my front speakers are 5X7. I know this for sure because I bought 4X6 and had to return them. The back speakers were worse. Mine are also in the ceiling. Pry the gaurd off, its easier than it seems. The problem is that most new speakers dont fit correctly. I tried 5 different brands and none of them fit because the cone shaped gaurd attached to the magnet of the speaker is too big to fit in the existing hole. I tried to cut the car, but that didn't really work (not the right saw). If the speaker is too big, but still can be screwed in, your gaurds won't fit. Eventually, I got frustrated at paid a really helpful, cool guy at Al and Ed's to install them.... pssd He had to cut the car. There may be a speaker out there that fits, but not Pioneer, JBL, Polk audio, or eclipse will fit without cutting. I ended up with Polk up front and eclipse in the back.....sounds great.
  2. How do you program 2 keyless remotes at the same time? I tried following the instructions for both of them, but it only programmed one of them. Just need it for a backup so I can quit making my alarm go off when using my spare keys...... Maybe the battery is just dead.
  3. Have you actually calculated your gas mileage? The gas gauge isn't 100% accurate. Mine goes really quick for the first half and then slow for the second half. The best mine has gotten is about 18.5 mpg....the lowest about 15.5 mpg..... Thats on-road driving only....... I would calculate the MPG for a few tanks before you get to worried
  4. Well, I changed the front pads a few days ago. They were VERY worn. The sound is completely gone . I made sure to use brake cleaner on the rotors, shims..... and brake grease on the appropriate parts...... It may have been the pad wear indicators along with brake parts badly needing to be lubed. When the brake pedal was released the pads remained too close to the rotor and the indicators were squealing....... The hubs were checked by a Nissan mechanic and were OK. Apparently the guy who had it before me knew to engage the 4x4 occasionally..... As far as Friend goes......double check the pads. Did you check them or did a mechanic (I've had mechanics say they're ok when they are not). Also check the lube points/rotors on the brakes (could be dirty / rusty). Does it make the noise only when you're moving??? In gear or neutral???
  5. Yea, I'll probably call crutchfield. Ya know, Circuit City called the Polks 'component' speakers also, but they just barely didn't fit. I was hoping someone here had actually swapped out the ceiling mounted speakers with good ones that fit..... For now, I'll try what you said...thanks..... or maybe I'll just cut in some 6x9's..... I'll post pics later.....In the meantime, anyone done this swap?????? yea, the crossover is sweet, those sound nice......I'll check it out
  6. Thanks, I'll check it out....easier than cutting.... Did you order them? wonder which set sounds the best....I've never used JBL/Alpine..... Oh, by the way, Circuit City wanted $50 per speaker to cut in 6x9's, plus $35 for installing the set.......$135 just to get them in.......
  7. Does anyone have a suggestion for new rear speakers. I just hooked up a new CD player/front speakers (5x7 polk)/and XM. I bought some 5x7 polks for the back, but they didn't fit. The cone shaped cage thats connected to the magnet wouldn't fit in the hole. I also tried pioneer, Circuit @ity told me that they had nothing to fit it. I thought about bustin out my Dremmel tool and cutting the hole bigger for 6x9's or for the Polk 5x7's. Anyone done this? Any pics of the rear 6x9's? Has anyone found a 5x7 that fits? 6x9's are a good bit better than 5x7's, right? As it is now, there is just 2 big, quiet holes back there.......... sly
  8. Thanks for the info. I'll try looking at the pins, i need new pads anyway...i have 4 wheel discs, could it be any of the 4 I let ya know what happens
  9. It is only while moving and as far as i can tell, at slow speeds only.... i listened closely today and it doesn't seem to be coming from the engine. also, it only has 76,000 miles and the guy who just sold it to me said it never really used the 4 wheel drive...... it almost sounds like bad brakes, but it happens with or without the brakes on....
  10. So my 95 Pathfinder has been making this squealing noise for a couple of days. I first thought it was a belt or the bearings in one of the pumps, but the noise was a little different. It's a high pitch squeal, almost sounds like an RC car or like windex/papertowel pushed too hard against glass.....anyway It happens randomly, mostly at low speeds. It comes and goes and seems to be worse when I am in reverse, going slowly. It sounds like it mostly comes from the back, sometimes from the front. Sounds to me like a wheel bearing that needs grease, any opinions? Also, what are some good things to check out that will be cheap and easy? Thanks db
  11. What's up everyone? Been checkin out the site for a little bit, just bought my truck, just joined. The site has been very helpful so far.
