you're missing the cups that are supposed to be welded on the truck end that keep the bushing centered. some people have welded old bearing races in it's place.
I'm betting that would keep this from happening.
-
I knew what bushings you were talking about just didn't know what ate what. so a compression rod basically got a chunk cut off the end? is that what that small piece is in the middle of the picture?
-
What sleeve ate through what?
I'm a little confused.
Either way. those bushings shouldnt wear that fast at all.
-
Thats frigg'n rad!

Here's my vote for the WD21.
The xterras are nice but the leaf suspension doesn't work nearly as well as the WD21 linked suspension.
The R50 and X has the larger VG33 but you can drop a VG33 into a WD21.
The R50 has a nice rear suspension but it's unibody and a full frame is preferable.
The aftermarket options do vary between trucks but it all depends on what YOU want want to do with your truck and the type of wheeling you do.

DT stopped production of the headers but I can have them make a minimum run of 20 sets if we get about 15 people wanting / needing a set. I talked to them about this earlier this week.
-
The lower gearing will actually get you better gas mileage. Your 4.3's are now effectively 4.01's. If you switch up to the 4.6 gear set, with the 31's your gear ratio would be 4.29.
How do you figure 4.3 are effectively 4.01's?
-
Thats how i personally think it should be everywhere.

Ok so they are not Carb/50 state certified or pending but may only be legal for use off road?
If so, you have just disappointed my wife.
B
That is correct.. appologize to your wife for me.. lol
Right now they are marked off-road use only but there seems to be a ton of places in the States and in Canada where it doesn't matter ... atleast those are the calls i'm getting.
The problem with the cats is that they were simply too close to the manifolds and if the headers were made to accommodate to cats, they would crack just like the factory manifolds.
So we opted to ditch the cats and build a reliable product.
CA state laws state that the cats have to be in the factory location. so moving them further down stream isn't an option.
-
However they do eliminate the primary cats on each side. You'll need to check with your local smog laws if you plan on using these on the street.
The original plan was to make them fit with the cats but it simply wasn't possible with the factory manifold/cat configuration.
-
I sure did!
We haven't verified that they are the exact same for the xterra/frontier as the R50 but we do have them for the Frontier and xterra 3.3.

The Owner of Richmond is having health problems and is out till late July.
For right now things are at a stand still but will continue moving when he returns
-
Yes, no problem.
Although i didn't know about it until shortly after the e-mail for this run were sent out, I'm aware of the closures that are happening on cleghorn but no one that i know of has been up there since. So i figured we'd cruise through have what fun we can and continue onward through pilot rock and possibly willow creek to Devils Hole, time permitting. It does look like quite a few of the cleghorn off-shoots have been closed but supposedly some of the fun stuff is still there. I don't have any details beyond that. This run should settle the curiosity floating around on the boards and also make for a easy day out with good company while matching faces with online screen-names. I figured this is a good way to kick off the summer wheeling season.
As for communications, I have both ham and CB in the pathfinder, I'll be on CB:22. Ham: 145.520 simplex my call is KF6WVM.
I'll see you guys off the 15fwy & cleghorn rd. exit at the trail head / under the overpass in the shade at 8:30a.

Anyone know a good current source for a set of polyurethane sway bar bushings...preferably including links...for a 97 SE?
-
I don't have a final cost on the axle but you're right it's not going to be cheap, but it will be good. I may have Trail-Gear make some H233B fronts but for right now it diamond all the way.
TG seemed interested in it when i last talked to them in august last year.

Yup, Thats Kenny.

We headed out at 1am the morning of the 20th to drive all night and start our 4 day journey along the swamp lake 4x4 trail.
After a quick fast food breakfast in town we soon found out that there is still snow on ALL the trails up there. Not just a little snow, a whole lot. more than enough to get us into trouble. so instead of heading onto swamp lake we decided to explore some other lower elevation trails for a few days. the first night we even watched Shutter Island in camp.
