I check on a regualr basis - I average 15 MPG, mostly flat AZ highway (70-75 average) I'd say around 70/30 split. I know it goes up if I stay around 55-60, but then I'd get run over. Limits 65 anyway. I've been using premium gas. Feel like a few years ago I used to be better milage. Everyone always says it's fine and 15 is about what to expect. Hmmm...

Running 16X8 with 4" back spacing. 245/70/16 BFG A/Ts. Now this is on a QX4, and I know you can get biger tires than this without an issue. I'll be putting on bigger set next.
-
Mine are 16X8 with 4" backspace. Between the extra inch width and backspace, I have issue with larger tires without cutting a bunch out. I know you have already taken steps to this, but a 9" wide 17" with 4.5 BS and a 32" tire!! How will you do it Batman!! Not sure that would even work on mine.

RockyRoad told me they were on like a 4 week backorder when I originally ordered from them.

From what I could tell, the OME springs are actually about 1/2" taller than stock. The balance of the lift comes from a different compression rating. I think each of the options are physically like this, but have higher compression rates.

Off Road Safety and Passengers?
InfinQX4 replied to OfftourRoadie96's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
I always like to have someone around, either a passenger or driving in another vehicle, especially here in the desert. Yes, I have taken kids - 3-4.5 yrs old, and they have a great time, even on some of the more difficult trails. Usually set them up with a portable DVD player, and a few movies. Stop for stretch and rock tossing breaks, and back on the trail. Certainly not good for an all day adventure though. They have been in standard age/weight appropriate car seats. Make sure you have the child locks on the doors!! A requirement all the time on and off road. A buddy and I take our kids (1+1=2) if the trail is appropriate and they have a blast together. Good to get them outdoors too. Wife doesn't like to go - car sick from time to time. -
Now that I think about it, there was about $150 that went towards replacing a ABS speed sensor, so really it was closer to $150 for the lift. The prices on parts where the cheapest I've seen anyone charge. They may have padded labor to make up the difference...no big deal. I'm happy!

HELP! how important is it to have the rear bumpstops?
InfinQX4 replied to FUELER's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
Agreed - you'll be fine on the road, but fix before going on the trail. -
Was fortunate enough to be able to give someone else the pleasure!

4 Springs, rear shocks, rear brake line relo-kit, misc parts, labor and alignment - $1200. Not making any claims this was a good deal. Actually, I'd bet just about anything that someone will come back with a on the cost, but as this wasn't something I was going to tackle, I didn't mind. Same guys I got a screaming deal on rims from, so it's give and take. I purchased the spacers separately, but had them install at the same time.

After trying with Rocky Road, I ordered my OME stuff from a local 4x shop who went directly to ARB - worked great!

Depends on how much of the lift is based on spring compression vs spacer. The higher the spring compression, the more the struts are forced into minimal down travel. A spacer only, however, will not affect the travel range of the strut. That is one of the reasons I went with the Medium OME springs because the strut still maintains a fair balance of travel over the Heavy. If I ever get a bar in the front, I will most likely upgrade to Heavy to add support. Yes, I'm aware of the CV issues, but have yet to have any problems with them or struts topping out. Planning on manual hubs and possibly slight front diff drop if needed.

Thanks! Lifted via OME Medium Coils, 35mm Snake Racing Strut Spacers, OME shocks and KYB struts. Check out: Lift On The wheels are Mickey Thompson Classic Lock powder coated black.

I'd have to say an hour drive, 50+ miles, (seriously guessing) to the trail head, but it depends on where in Scottsdale you are. These were taken about 35-40 minutes into the trail, across the creek a few times. Fist time I was back in that area. How long are you around here for? I'll work on better directions if you want.
-
This area is toward Payson - about North/East of the Scottsdale area. It rained last night and into this morning, but all it really did was keep the dust down. There wasn't any mud or standing water, except at the creek area of course. It takes way more rain to bring mud around here. Keep in mind too, there is a bunch of sand out here too.

Sycamore Creek, AZ - Pretty confident this is the first R50 to hit these trails... This one was close. I could touch the rock out my window. Good Times!!!

Okay, so I get it now...But in that case, the strut is extended further. I agree about riding at maximum extension. If it's on top, the strut remains closer to OEM length, unless except of course where the coils add additional length. I thought the key was to keep the strut as close to spec for ride, etc. If it's overextended, the strut issues come into play. Six-of-one though as the other extreme brings additional CV stress. My setup has worked great so far. Just got back from some pretty tough trails and have yet to top out the struts. And trust me, it would have topped out today for sure. I'll post some pics in another topic.

Sorry, but I don't follow you... I can see there would be issues if a spacer was installed between the top of the spring and the bottom of the mount (doubt anyone makes such a thing for the struts anyway)...but I'm not sure the difference between installing between the 2 sections of the mount, or on top. It would seem to me this is effectively the same. The spacer is still adding a height to the top of the strut without changing the strut / spring specs (ie like something extending the strut). And buy this, it would seem the height would be offset by a more severe CV angle. I'm not an expert at this, it's just based on my limited experience.
-
IMO, 50mm would be too much for the CVs, even with the hubs. You'd need to drop the front diff about maybe 2" to make that work. They also offer a 25mm, closer to 1", but the 35mm would work too. I'm not sure how much higher the AC springs push up vs the OME. It seems everyone gets different results.

OME springs on crappy shocks and struts
InfinQX4 replied to EmptyV's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
That's kind of a tough spot. If you can't wait to save, I'd suggest doing the struts and shocks first actually. If these aren't good, the springs will totally over-power the old set and the ride and handling will be kind of a mess. Especially I would think with the OME HD front coils. :02: As for leaving the shocks, they are the cheapest component, so I’m not sure the savings benefit, but that's your call. -
Buy another set of stops. Cut the rubber off the old ones, and mount the new ones against them. This will give you another inch or so. Might need new bolts, but I'm not sure. Haven't actually see this, but I've been told it can be done.
-
I've only been able to do some basic moves and have not run into any issues. This weekend will be telling - going to test in the dirt!
-
It's smooth, more responsive and the ride is great! I wasn't sure what to expect, but it's awesome! Dirt to be added soon.

Thanks - Can't wait to get off the pavement! BFG A/T's 245/70/16, comes to basically 29.5". Had a little rubbing before the lift on full turn - No problems now. Wheels are Mickey Thompson Classic Lock, powder coated black. Haven't had any top-out issues.
