  2. i'm all for the fender flares, when i get my wider tires, i'm gona fab wider flares like you can get for a jeep tj. if you check my site below, i have pics with some flares off and on on the random pic page if you wanna compare..
  3. looks like a sweet project to me slick, sweet deal too, lol, and btw, workin on them is most of the fun for me too..
  4. when i got it, bout 8... , for the first week, had 10 psi of air in the tires.. lol, now, bout 16-17, 93se auto
  5. i agree with gacruiser, on my 93, there is a massive mpg gas difference between 2500 rpm, and 2000 rpm
  6. very nice.. your next project, make me one, lol,
  7. sweet man, i do some of that up here in ontario, havent much lately, i wanna wait till this summer so i have money to fix it up, then take her out again into the wild, can't wait
  8. lol, i have a great suggestion.. i think 88pathoffraod should write a modding book... which i would pay alot for...
  9. our gas up here in ontario isn't grat, dont wry, costs me 64$ca to fill up, at 90cents/litre
  10. all this talk about electrical mumbo-jumbo makes me wanna talk about my idea, i think i should spill it with you. i am curently in second year mechtronics engineering and working on somethign yous might like. i am currently workin on a motorized cargo cover, using two geared down 12v dc motors, two sensors and a plc. i had a pretty expencive sound system in my truck, and like to hide it when parked at school, hence this idea. so its basically two extendable arms mounted on top of my sub box, by my rear seets, that extend out a black sheet straight out all the way to the hatch, voila, everythign is covered. there is a little sensor on my hatch, and one on my sub box telling the motors when to stop, i have a two button switch to open and close it in my dash.. this project is still in the works, i have it working, but i'mproving it... if you go look at my cardomain website below, you will get an idea of where the positioning of this is.. pics will be comin soon, this summer it will be finished, should be pretty awesome, cause i haven't seen anything like this around.. tell me what you think of the idea
  11. well i sure as heck do.. and it's so hard on my poor truck....
  12. mines a 93, i have the sport/touring switch which is for the suspension, no it doesnt do anythin to my tranny, i also have the E-auto/power switch that changes the tranny shift pattern, all i'm saying is that when it's on sport suspension, it seems to use more gas... i just leave it on touring all the time... i did have ajustable shocks.. not anymore, and yes, all the wires are cut. i've never heard of burning more gas cause of electrical draw either, but i do know that it burns more gas if say you were running your air conditioner, cause it's just more load on the engine, like when you put your rear defog on, and at idle, it idles lower.. or say your truck is idling and you turn the steering wheel.. cause the power steering pump is taking power from the engine... hence the only reason i see it burning more gas, even if it's not connnected
  13. mine is a 93 and has the sport/touring switch, and for some reason, YES, it burns noticably more gas with the switch on sport, even if my wires are cut, why, i dont know, my mech figures that it's a huge electrical component that must control them, which would need more power from the alternator, not too sure bout that, but i'm runnin a 600 watt rms amp blasting all the time with no difference.. hmm...
  14. the first time it doesn't go into reverse.. it's too late, same thign happend to me.. here in ontario, it's 4000$ to get it rebuild, my uncle mechanic checked it and said that every other gear will be fine.. it has been like this for 2 months now, i've been runnin it without reverse, works perfec, i have to find a used tranny somwhere..
  15. aight, thx guys, i figured it had to be somethin like that, but i wasn't quit sure, cause i thought the ajustable suspension was still working, (there was no difference in ride suspension, but it does burn a heck of alot more gas when it's on sport for some reason)... thx
  16. i hadnt knoticed this till today when i took my front tires off to take off my rotting mudflaps, comin out of the engine compartment, there was a block with 3 cut wires heading what look liked towards the brakes/shocks on the front passenger side. i was tryin to figure out what it was, it's just cut right at the block. i checked the other side, and the connection for the 3 wires is also present and cut.. everythin works fine, not sure what it is.. was like that from previous owner i guess
  17. yea, i know this happens, just wonderin if it was cause of the previous owner hauling his massive boat or somthin, they are all done now, and i had the date wrong, it was since sept 04, i've only had it a few months, so they have pretty much all been done at the same time now, and i know they should all have been replaced at the same time, just didnt have the money. thx
  18. for the past few days i've been readin ever post on brake problem on this entire forum, and still havent' came a problem like mine. i am about to replace my 3rd caliper.. and might do the 4th one at the same time while i'm at it.. i got this truck sept 03, and a little while after i got it, the brakes started getting very very mushy.. i could smell fluid in the back. i took off my rear driver side tire.. and the inside brake pad went completely missing, and the piston was acctually being used to stop the rear tire.. needless to say, it was f'd. so i brought that caliper in to get rebuild and get an new one, new pads and new rotor. and yea, the missing pad had somehow gotten inside the drum for the e-brake, and was having fun destroying stuff in there, and the pads were new new new, so i dont know why this happened in the first placeanway i fixed all that, works perfect. few months later, mushy brakes, smell in front, so i took off the front tire, took off the caliper.. and theres a nice gash in the piston boot on the caliper, YEY another new caliper.. fixed that, works fine.. now, same thing on the passenger side, why do my calipers keep gettin f'd?? jsut wonderin if anyone know why this is repetitive.. my slide bolts are all fine and my fluid seems perfect... any help would be great
  19. i have a 93, and i also got a sweet deal on it, but under the back seats... rusted away like mad, took out the grinder, made nice little boxes in the holes, and rivited it all in, makes sweet tool storage spot..
  20. well, i have had a 93 Nissan pathinfer for bout 6 months now, and before that, an 89 4runner.. and man, that 4 runner was a truck.. drove the (I am a dork for trying to use profanity here) out of it, would not even beleive thigns i had done wiht that truck, but when it died, it had many things wrong wiht it that i couldnt' afford to fix. duno what to tell you
  21. lol, could be, anyway, i've noticed that it seemed worse against a really rough wind, it would do it more often, so i took the top part off the air filter and fliped it upside downso it would breath in through under the hood, not the fender facing sort or ahead, and it seemed to make it much better, not sure what to do, dont really wanna run a warm intake... lol
  22. ok, i have had my Pathfinder for bout 6 months now, and ever since i have had it, the throttle has been messed. it feels like at many spots where i press the gas, the engine stops to zero, but as soon as you move the pedal, further or back off, it's fine till you hit another dead spot. i am wonderin weather or not anyone has experienced any problem like this. my mechanic figures that i need a new throttle position sensor. i haven't read anywhere that this is a commons problem, it just feels like that is what it is. i have cleaned my throttle body very good several times. the reason i am posting this is because i read a post about o2 sensors, and i dont think it's that, when i got it, it had just been replaced. friends of mine have told me that it could be the hose that links to my transmission, which would cause this sputtering at certain speeds, but i dont think it has anything to do wiht this, because it doesnt' matter what speeds i am going, jsut where i am pressing the gas. anyway, later this month i will have money and finally be able to replace it and fix many other things.. any tips at what else might be the problem would be great help.. JD
  23. thx alot guys, it is still runnnin great, i will keep changing the oil often and maintain regular maintenance.. JD
