  1. Hi guys, I've got a 2001 Pathfinder but am stuck as to what rating OME coil springs to use on the front. I know that the HD will level out the vehicle better, but the ARB tech recommended against it unless I have a heavy bumper or winch. Question: 1. Will I require strut spacers for the medium duty OME front coil springs? 2. Are there any potential problems with the HD springs in terms of alignment, wear on the CV joints etc.? Thx, Raz
  2. Just an update on this post. After speaking with the guys at ARBusa, the distributors of OME parts, they recommended I NOT get the HD coil springs for this pathfinder unless I am going to put a substantial amount of weight on the front, like a heavy bumper or winch. They said that the HD coils will raise the vehicle too much and cause significant problems with alignment and wear on the tires. Can anyone confirm this? Thx, Raz
  3. I'm having some work done on my 5spd 2001 SE 3.5L Pathfinder very soon. I'm wondering if I should get the mechanic to check the power valve screws. But is it true that the 5spd manual doesn't have the power valve screw issues as reported here? Thanks, Raz
  4. Is this finally confirmed? Do the manual transmission R50s not have power valves? Thx, Raz
  5. Just one final check before placing my order for complete suspension kit on a 2001 SE Pathfinder. These are all the parts I need to get before taking them to the mechanic. I live in Victoria, BC, Canada. 1. Struts - KYB GR-2 part no. 335031/335030 ordered from http://www.autopartsway.ca/ 2. Shocks - Rancho 9000XL part no. RS999010X ordered from http://powerandplay.com/ 3. Coils - OME heavy duty front, OME medium duty rears. Ordered from: http://www.rocky-road.com/ They are 8 weeks back ordered. Anywhere in Canada sell these? 4. OME Strut bearings and Nissan strut mounts - are these necessary and where to get them? Almost there, thanks again Raz
  6. I just got off the phone with the Bilstein rep. It seems like the 7100 is not a recommended shock for the 2001 Pathfinder. He said try the 5100, but even there we wasn't sure if it would fit and said he'll call me back. The 5100 Bilsteins come in two versions: regular and ride-height adjustable. http://www.bilstein.com/offroad.php#5100pre Has anyone used these to recommend one over the other? I'll also look at the 5150 Bilsteins as I need something that is relatively adjustable. Again, the Pro Comp ES3000 isn't listed to fit the 2001 R50 Pathfinder. Does someone have a part number for the ones that do fit? Ultimately though, I may just go with the Rancho 9000XL now that I have the part number and people have confirmed that they fit the 2001 R50 without modifications. Thanks, Raz
  7. Thanks for the info. 1. I'll go with the KYB GR2 struts. I understand I also need the strut bearings and strut mounts. I should use the OME bearings and Nissan mounts from what I've read. 2. As for adjustable shocks, I contacted Rancho and they said they don't have the RS9000XL for the 2001 Pathfinder. Seems odd, considering how many here have these shocks. Do you guys have a link for a discussion on the various shocks Bilstein vs. Rancho vs. Pro COmp vs. OME? Thanks, Raz
  8. I've got a 2001 4wd Pathfinder and am getting a different part number for the KYB GR-2: 335031 and 335030. Not sure of the Rancho 9000XL either. I called Rancho directly and they said they have no 9000XLs for the Pathfinder from '96-2004. So where are people getting these part numbers from? Thanks, Raz
  9. Hi guys, New to this forum and thanks for this helpful post. I just picked up a 2001 SE 3.5L 5spd manual. My main use is 90% city/highway driving and 10% hauling 4+ paragliders with their gear up steep mountain roads. No serious Off Roading intended. I'm not mechanical at all and will have a private garage do the work. But I need to get everything before I see him. I'm going with the OME kit as follows but have a few questions still: 1. Front HD coil springs + which struts? 2. Rear Medium coil springs + which shocks? Need some that can preferably be adjusted for the load and comfort. 3. Do I need to buy any spacers, mounting brackets etc.? 4. Finally, with this setup could I put 30.5inch BFG A/Ts on my 16" stock rims? or should I stick with 265/70 R16? Thanks, Raz
  10. Hello I'm sure this has been asked a dozen times, but I used the search function but came up empty. I'm trying to put the biggest BFGs A/Ts on my stock rims. I understand that lifting the truck won't matter much as it's the back space between the lower spring perch on the strut and tire that's the limiting factor. Currently, I'm running 255/65 R16 on stock rims. What are the largest tires I can use on the stock rims of a 2001 SE 3.5L Pathy without them rubbing? Thanks, Raz
  11. Thanks guys for the warm welcome I'm definitely going to look at the OME line of suspension. Thanks for the link to Rocky Road. Currently, I've got 255/65 R16 Michelin LTX on stock rims. They'll probably last another season before I get the 31" BFGs Thanks again, Raz
  12. Hi guys, I'm new to this forum but have been reading here a bit before I got my first Pathfinder last week: a 2001 SE 3.5L 5spd manual. It's in a little rough shape so I need to do a few things to it get it up to speed. My main use will be 90% city/highway driving and 10% to carry paragliding passengers (4 at a time) plus their gear up steep mountain roads. No serious off-road stuff, but occasionally we come across some major cross-ditches. 1. First off, suspension. I need to beef up the suspension but not to the point of making it uncomfortable on the highway. I've read the section on suspension systems and am considering the OME line. But which one I'm not quite sure. 2. Second, rust. There's plenty of it underneath the vehicle. While none of is deep, I want to stop and minimize its extension as much as possible. Any suggestions would be appreciated. 3. Third, the stock CD player doesn't work. The tape deck and radio work fine and the Bose speakers sound great. I'd like to make it look stock again with steering wheel controls and the whole bit, but I can't seem to find any at the wreckers. I guess the Bose 6 CD deck doesn't have the greatest realibility. Any suggestions for after market CD Deck that would integrate well with the Bose speakers and steering wheel controls? 4. Tires: what's the largest size of BFG All-Terrain TA's I can put on the stock rim without them rubbing? 5. Finally, any reason to get manual locking hubs if I'm not doing any serious off-roading? There's more, but I'll leave that for now. Thanks for all your help. Raz
