The JDE engines are usually a good buy... Like anything else used, it can be dicey though... As V said, what is the issue with yours ?

Again on the sales price... What kind of engine work, how many miles and where are you located...

The water pump is gone, the starter is on it's way out, and the heads need some work. Considering that my Path has clicked off 187k I just figured a new/used engine is in order.....

Yeah, Nissan starters suck - big tyme. Honestly, I believe there may be a problem with my motor's bottom end. I'm not 100% sure as I'm not a gear- head but there is no point in getting all that other stuff fixed if the bottom end is broke....

Certain noises it sometimes makes when I start it up leads me to believe it has a problem with the bottom end. Plus, an issue with a slight hesitation I was never able to get solved.....

the noise yer hearin is most likely the broken studs... goes away after she warms up? tapping or ticking noise? (kinda reminds you of a rod knockin)

hesitation could be something as simple as a loose vaccum line or sensor... when does it hesitate? what speed/rpm range? mine ran so crappy when i put this new motor in this year i was like DAMN!! wasn't the same truck. i was amazed at just how bad my other motor was runnin.. well hell.. in the end i had a broke piston and blown head gasket... lol

There is a screeching like sound that can be heard upon startup every so often. Seems to be coming from underneath and up front. I've taken the truck to a couple of different shops and nobody could identify the cause of the hestitation which only occurs when the truch starts rolling from a stop.
