Got a 2wd tranny and was told it would be 4wd

I put my pathy in the shop and had a used tranny I had purchased delivered there. When the guys got and tried to bolt it to the car the output shaft was too long and they cannot fit the output shaft into the transfer case since the guy who sold it to me gave me the 2wd and not the 4wd one. I cannot get a hold of this guy and I think he is a lost cause. So is there anything I can do to get around this. The guys said the output shaft is like 4 inches too long. Can the output shafts be switched relatively easily?

i'm currently in the process in seeing if I can swap the output shafts. Been swapped with finals and work and haven't had the chance. You could always call the law on the guy who sold it to you or give him a visit since you do have his address. I don't recall anyone ever doing such a swap though so you're kind of walking in unknown territory. Would like to know how it works out if you do.

I don't know his address. I got near his place, but not to it. I am pretty out of luck with him. The cell phone number I had on him is not working.
