Mass Air Flow Sensor Connector

Driving my daughter to her friends house my Pathy started shaking when I went to make a turn. I also smelled some horrible stink! It did it 2 more times that day, so the next day I took it to my mechanic and told him I thought it was the oxygen sensor or the choke. He took it for a ride and got it back to the shop. He said that the connector(mass air flow sensor connector) needed to be tightened down. I would like to know if I need to worry about this anymore and if it is a normal thing? By the way, he didn't charge me anything.

on my 95, the wires coming off the top of the MAF were actually touching the hood. When I'd hit a bump, they'd flex and I'd get intermittent open circuits causing the truck to run like crap. I pulled the connector and rebuilt it, making good connections, and made teh wire come off at 90 degrees so it didn't rub anymore. Never a problem since.

 

 

btw... easy to check. get the truck to idle then pop the hood and f'k with the connector and wire. If there's a break, it'll be obvious by wiggling it.

Yes, the connector is a common issue as k9sar said. Sounds like you have a good mechanic... Cleaning it can't hurt, although I douby that is your issue.
