For now I have just velcro straped the handle tight and hooked it to the cargo hooks in the back with a block of wood under the top end. It sets real nice just between the interior panels and no noise. When I have a roof basket it will go on top!

We almost never use the rear seat, so I made some heck for stout brackets that mount to the top of the subwoofer enclosure (which is bolted to the floor) on the right side of the cargo area. The jack is positioned fore and aft about 2" away from the passenger side window, just above the top edge of the rear seat. Actually, a passenger can still sit there, but the jack is right by their right bicep/shoulder.

roof rack is the way to go as long as you are willing to keep the jack lifting mechanism clean and greased.

my high lift is mounted to the side of the roof rack with a shovel on a bracket from kaymar.

wouldnt want that sucker inside the car in an accident. i would hate to think would it could do.

Yup, if you mount it inside, secure the dickens out of it!

I'm planning to add a cable "tether" as a final safety measure. Think F1 wheel restraint... The existing brackets will withstand a couple dozen G's, but in a severe head on (100G+), they would come loose. Well, actually the failure mode would be the jack ripping the subwoofer box apart (only 3/4" MDF).

I just need to figure out where to secure it to the body.

I mounted my 60" ontop of my rear tire carrier. Bolted and locked on. if ya want pics I can post em up. it sticks out about .75" past the passanger side tire carrier hing because I didnt want the base to block the drivers side tail light. took all of 15 min to do.

these are b4 I got the lock on. lock is a Mastercraft marina lock. about 4" long and goes through 2 pieces of 12 gauge on ether side of the jack and through one of the holes in the jack. brakets are 14 gauge. is I was to do it again I would have gone with 12 gauge for those to. also welded on some small pieces of 1/8" round stock so the jack "snaps" into place. anyways to the good stuff!!!

I had to do a lil getto work on it tho. zip tie some paper towel to the jack so it wouldnt chip the paint or dent the body anymore then it had. If I would have used 12 gauge the jack wouldnt be able to move at all(hardly does now, only when you slam the carrier shut). also I always needed to replace my pins in the hinges. they have been sittin in the grage for EVER. now that the jack is on there they MUST be replaced. I have to "pick up" the carrier so it will slid ontop of the suport under the hatch. if you have no play in the hinges you will be fine. mine are just REALLY worn out.

And last thing, I made a mistake, the jack sticks out about 1.5" past the hinge

i built a tube bumper for the back of my pathy, and build brackerts on the back side of it so i have the jack mounted underneath/behund my back bumper. it works pretty good. about 20 minutes of work and some scrap from the bumper building worked out.
