deej
I picked up a satelliet radio receiver the other day and they say to mount the antenna 6.5" from the back hatch and in the center of the roof. Seeing as I don't have my Pathy right now cuz it's in the body shop, my question is will either my rear spoiler or roof rack be in the way? What have been some other antenna mounting locations that satellite radio users have used on our Pathy's that have worked? Will the antenna work fine where they suggest? findmypath
I have a 03 Pathy and when I put in my satellite radio I didn't listen to what the instructions said. I really really really didn't want to drag several feet of wire throught the car just to mount the antenna. So what I did was mount the antenna on the driver side dashboard ....in the most left corner of the dash ...and the antenna picks up the signal without any problems. I mounted it with the double sided sticky provided in the kit and so far so good. I suggest that you do that since it will be easier for you to take the radio setup out of the car when you no longer want it. There's my tip...if you have any other questions email be at cebas20@gmail.com Thanks.
patzx300
I was going for more of "factory look" with my sat radio install. I used a Nissan Sat antenna, mounted it on the back of the roof, ran the wire to the tuner which I double sided taped to the cruise control control unit in the left rear of the truck. Then I just ran the Din cable to the head unit along with power and ground.
deej
Thanks for the suggestions. I've heard that the antenna on the dash trick works good but when I read the instructions it kinda threw me off. I think I'll give it a try on the dash and go from there. XPLORx4
I'm not sure which sat. receiver you got, but I recently installed an XM Roady2 in my Pathy, and I placed the antenna right above the windshield, near the driver's side roof rack rail. It's been working fine there. Plus, it was easy to route antenna wire down the windshield weatherstripping, and into the cabin through the clutch-hole cover. Grumpy
The higher the better. I mounted mine on the roof at the center near the windshield, and stuffed the wire behind the rubber. It was easier to bury the wire from the windshield area than from the rear of the vehicle. You might consider one of these http://www.lashen.com/vendors/panavise/cel...limline2000.asp to mount the radio on. Four short 3/8" long black screws will secure the panavise to most plastic dash / console surfaces. If at a future date, you decide to remove the mount to sell the vehicle, put the screws back into the holes and all is well. I would go so far as to reccomend this one 717-09SF SLIMLINE 2000 MOUNT - 9in. RISE - KNOB ADJUST - SMALL FOOT as the foot is small, and it's a bit longer, offering more flexibility in mounting. Panavise also makes goose neck mounts if you prefer. http://www.lashen.com/vendors/panavise/cellular/uniflex.asp If you decide to go with a panavise, the styles with the knob adjust may be preferable to the styles requiring an allen wrench to tighten.
