Pathfinder-jay
Hey guys, yesterday I filled my tank up to full and even over... Usualy I get about 75 km extra when I overfill the tank... Now today I did less than 100km and my gas is at 3/4....never did this before... any idea why it could be sucking so much gas.... Thanks Jason
Simon
Could be bad gas......could be colder weather (is it cold where you are) could be wind conditions, could be a clogged fuel filter, could be the tires are low on air.........there's a million things.... I'd say keep an eye on it over the next couple of tanks to see if it clears itself up....if not, then start worrying, and asking questions. k9sar
any noticable gas smell? In cold weather, there's a common leak point that may be helping degrade your mileage. Certainly the type of driving has an effect (if you're a lead-foor or a highway granny etc.) If nothing seems obvious, start keeping a log and track your drive style/conditions and mpg (or kpg). DSM_guy
as our cars get older, the gas gauges start to peter out. after driving about 50 miles the needle is all the way on 1/4 tank left on mine. i go strictly by my odometer now or do you know for a fact that your really burning that much gas? as in..having to fill up multiple times? Pathfinder-jay
I Cant really picture where that is... can you give it to me in a bit more detail... and how much does it usualy cost to fix?
k9sar
usually just need to tighten the hose clamps. Lemme see if I can find a previous post about it... the link it's about a half inch dia 3" ling hose that you can see if you look down on the top of your block. I'll get a pic tonight if I can. If you don't smell as, I'm pretty sure that's not your problem Edited January 30, 2006 by k9sar
Pathfinder-jay
I lifted the hood and was snooping around and found this little tube disconnected from the air intake... The rubbed seemed to have cracked... used some electrical tape for the mean time... and my gas milage is back to normal... weird... anyone know what little tube im talking about? vengeful
It's probably a vacuum line. I'd get it replaced ASAP so it doesnt fail again. They're not expensive, and you can do it yourself in a matter of minutes if you can reach where it goes.
