2WD VG30E in a 4WD Pathy?

Other than the oil pump, what is the diference between a 2WD VG30E versus a 4WD? I need to swap the engine due to a bent conecting rod and have a 2WD available for cheap with 83k miles. I can save about $400.00 and will complete this swap in about 2 weeks. Please advise...

Should not be a problem. It just pan, oil pump, and oil pickup. Be sure there are two different oil pumps one for teh 2 wheel drive and one for the 4X and no I do not know the difference. One the outside they look the same.

I believe the water pump is also different. 4WD has extra long tabs, IIRC. ... and cost twice as much.

the only thing i know to be different between my 4x4 and my friends 2x4 is the water pump on the front of the engine, although i dont know if they aer all like that

definately the oil pan and such. Swapping from a 2wd into a 4wd eliminates the frame/crossmember considerations etc. My suggestion is to buy the one from the 2WD and when you pull yours, set them side by side (which you'll probably do anyway to swap your components over) and look for any other differences that would impact the installation. You should be fine.
