Well my transfer case is on its way out, starts vibrating at about 30 mph. Anyonew know how much a replacemnt would be for a 98 r50? Just a ball park figure for a junked one in good condition. Or is it possible to rebuild it? If so gimme a ballpark on that. Might be asking too much, but I gotta know what Im getting into.

Does it do that in 4wd only? If so, maybe your tires aren't properly balanced. Happened to me before. If it's in 2wd, then I don't know what to tell you.

Actually it's not really that wierd. Every rotating object has a natural vibration frequency. If something's outta whack, and that vibration increases in amplitude (read gets worse) it would be entirely possible that it happens @ 30 as you are compounding the problem with the natural frequency.

If it's the t-case, then it's gotta be either the bearings or the gears inside.

Bearings are not expensive, and if it's the gears, then most innards should be interchangable with all different TX-10s out there, just verify part numbers with your local dealer.

Just for reference, I picked up a used TX-10 last spring for $75 CDN which is like $55-60 American Dollars.

You might want to try places that import Japanese front clips, engines and transmissions. Most Nissan trannies would come from overseas with T-cases mated to them, so if you throw $100 at them they'd probably take it, as they'd still sell the transmission to somebody else for the same amount as if it had the T-case attached.

IE: ask ricers about JDM import places.
