Guest saxerphoner
I recently bought my first pathfinder. It's a 98 with a little over 76K. I notice that it sounds a little rough when starting it up. It's a kind of grind, but not a serious grind like I need to put oil in it or something. Is this normal? XPLORx4
The description is too vague to make an educated comment about its normalcy. What does the "grinding" sound like, how long does it last, and where does it sound like it's coming from? Guest saxerphoner
The "grinding" only occurs when the engine is turning over. Once it has turned over, it stops and runs great. The grinding I'm referring to is only a louder noise than I'm accustomed to when starting a vehicle; not necessarily a "grind." I can't narrow down where the noise is coming from; the engine compartment somewhere. To be honest, I think it may be normal but wanted some more experienced advice. Thanks for any comments or suggestions you may have.
XPLORx4
Probably just the regular sound of the starter motor. Almost every vehicle model's starter motor sounds different. Was your previous car a 4-cylinder?
