compression rod

Hey. i was driving home today, parked the pathy, wenti inside and came to get back in the truck to drive. as soon as i hit 35 mph, i hear a loud clutter sound (the sound you hear when u let your tounge roll off your teeth real fast, sorta like when a rocks stuck in your tire), so i come off, take off the wheel and see that on the compressin rod, the collar (?) is broke in half. in the haynes manual, page 11-10 theirs a diagram on the bottom of the page, thats where i got this from. its the collar right before the frame. i am not sure if this is causing my problem or not? any help would be appreciated. sorry for no pics, but my digi cam has no batteries

 

if thats the problem, do i just need to go to a junk yard and get the part or is it safe to ride with it like that?

haha, problem fixed. i freaked out about nothing. on my windshield, the weather stripping had come half way off and was slappin the car. i feel like a dumbass, lol.

And I was about to ask you if it was RPM or speed related... LOL, I'm just glad it was nothing serious or expensive...
