Air hammer/chisel recommendations?

Want to pick up a decent air hammer/chisel to simplify rebuilding the front suspension on my tow van (getting 20 year old A-arm bushings out is a bear!)

Anybody have any brands/models they recommend? Or recommend avoiding?

I see prices from $20 to $200+...

I want adequate power to destroy old bushings, but I don't need it often enough to rationalize buying a really nice pro model. I already have chisels.

companion tools at sears are about half to 1/3 the price of craftsman...i havent used their air tools yet but am planning on buying thier package set for like $75 b/c i've used their basic mechanics tool set for about 6 years now and none of my tools have broken and they have fixed tons of stuff on my truck as well as other trucks even after getting soaked and closed up for a night after changing a buddies waterpump in the pouring rain...

they're cheaper price wise but the tools i've used of theirs seem to be a good buy

I've got a Husky brand set of air tools...all of it seems to be fairly good quality (I'm sure nothing compared to Matco or Snap-On, but probably comparable to Craftsman at a lower cost). Got the whole compressor/air tools setup at Home Depot for ~$300. :aok: Came with, Impact Wrench, air ratchet, air hammer/chisel, 2 HLVP spray guns, air nozzle and a sander.

Another option, would be to check a pawn shop for an IR or similar. I picked up a few other air tools at the local pawn shop for about $20-25 each, all brand new Ingersoll Rand. :aok:

Pawn shops are always a great idea... unfortunately, we only have one in town but lots of people aware of it. The supply and demand curve is way against me - anything decent gets picked before it even hits the shelf.

I also had good luck with Husky tools in the past - but then they got popped by the FTC a few years ago for advertising and labeling tools as "Made in the USA" when they were actually imported. So I have boycotted them ever since (I'm kinda cranky that way). But since that was several years ago, it is quite possible they have since cleaned up their act... Anybody know?

Harbor Freight!!!

I can't believe that site hasn't com up yet. You won't find cheaper tools anywhere else. My limited experience with them has been good- so far. My dad is a BMW CCA member and heard about it from his friends. SO far I haven't heard any negative response. My impression of them is that everything they sell is drop shipped from China. Which is why it is so cheap but it can take up to 3 weeks to arrive.
