Guest Larimer
I snapped off a stud on my drive flange. I was replacing pads and rotors on my '96 pathy yesterday, and when reassembling I got a little too agressive tightening the studs that hold the drive flange in place and snapped it off. What are my choices? Am I screwed, do I need to replace the whole hub, or is there a way to replace the stud? What about drilling and tapping a hole in place of the stud? I figured since it is not like it is a wheel stud, I am safe to drive, I am just keeping it out of 4wd so as to not stress the flange. :help:
GrimGreg
Try a screw extractor.
Precise1
Yeah, but I'm confused. Isn't the stud threaded into a tapped hole ? I'd try drilling out the broken stud and replacing it. Here is a discription if you need it... http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=5361 B
Guest Larimer
Ok. I think I get it... You are saying the the stud will unscrew from the hub. there is enough of a stub sticking out that I think I have something to work with to get ahold and twist it out before I have to break out the drill. When tightening the nut it actually only broke off half of the stud. I wasnt sure if those studs were press fit in or something. Thanks
mudfinder
you can extraced it. when i extraced the bolt from my path, i torched it first, that seemed to work.
