Alcohol

Recommended Posts

Has anyone tried to run their rig on alcohol? I was wondering because I see a section in the owners manual regarding gasohol, it talks about wood and methyl alcohol, but there is no sufficient data to ensure all methanol blends are suitable for use on nissan cars. I really want to run my rig on vp racing fuel, but I don't know if this will cause bad side effects on the engine though.

I've run mine on paint thinner...

Laugh, but I'm serious: toulene and xylene. you can pick up a gallon of either for $10. They are ingredients in fuel anyways, you'd just be boosting the amount. It's equivalent to boosting the octane a few points. Works well to clean everything out IMO.

You've run it on paint thinner alone, or mixed it with the regular gas? Yeah, toluene adds a few octane points, but it's a listed chemical...can be used to make meth, therefore limited in sales.

Yeah, I know what you mean 88. Dumb kids around here would prefer to inhale that crap too.

I didn't know toulene was a listed chemical? I can get it at paint stores around here still...(mass)

I used to use 2 quarts of isopropyl in my '94 saturn with 170k to get it through maryland emmissions, low low low fuel amouts, 2 bottles for dry gas a(to suck up the remainder of water that is in the alch.) and 2 quarts of alch to make it burn crazy hottt!! that poor car would run so hot when that stuff was in the tank but it would pass every time with it!!! LOL, i love beater cars!!! You just need to fill up when your done that heat will wear out sensors and get all sorts of stuff way to hot.
