Front-Rear sway bar D rubbers, and rear sway bar link replacment

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

I’m in the process of replacing all the bushings on my R50 Pathfinder. Most, if not all, of them are the same rubber parts that were used when the vehicle was made in Japan 25 years ago. I had my local mechanic replace the control arm bushings earlier this year, but I want to start doing some of the work myself.

My local tire shop mentioned that my rear sway bar link is shot and that both the rear and front sway bar D-rubbers need to be replaced. I want to know if there’s anything else I need to do besides jacking up the 4WD to take the wheels off. Will I need a wheel alignment after I replace these parts?

yeah it's just the sway bar rubbers for both the front and rear, and left and right rear sway bar links, once I take the wheel off do I need to support anything with a trolley jack once I take the links off or the sway bar ?

Unless the tires block the end links, you may not even need to take the wheels off. When I did my front swaybar bushings, I think the only thing I used the jack for was trying to line up the ends of the bar to where I could get the end links put together. I remember fighting that part for a while.

If you do take the wheels off, make sure everything's chocked and on stands when you're working on it, especially while you're yanking/jacking on stuff trying to get the end links to line up.
