dies after letting clutch up after start

Recommended Posts

1996 se w 5speed and vg33e     I bought her as a project and she ran and started no problem pulled the trans out to replace the clutch and related parts also fixed a broken vacuum hose on the fuel pressure regulator and plugs while doing valve cover gaskets. there is a new crank position sensor in it but it’s not wanting to start however i did get it started with some carb cleaner and it ran for a solid 20 seconds or so (sounded fine) but as soon as i release the clutch at all it dies?

That's a weird one.

Having to start it with carb cleaner makes me think it's not getting much fuel. Do you hear the fuel pump prime when you turn the key?

Did you replace the crank sensor (on the back) or the cam sensor (in the distributor)? If it was the cam sensor, you'll need to set the ignition timing.

The crank sensor is only there for misfire detection, so that shouldn't be able to make it run weird.

Check that no wiring got pinched between the engine and trans when you bolted them back together.

Any OBD codes?
