Jacksonavenue
Photos of brackets I think these go on the 2 bolts that hold the alternator in place. The long one up top and the small bolt at the bottom. I actually got it in without using these pieces and it seemed to be sitting in the right position but I’m not sure. I’m ASSUMING these were for my alternator. anyone recognize these little pieces? I’d rather die than remove and reinstall this horrid alternator again. Hoping I can get away with not using those pieces. My new alternator is also a different model. The "L bracket" in the photo on the right goes on the back side of the alternator and, yes this alternator replacement job is a pita. I had to replace the alternator on my 2001 a few months ago and it took hours to to complete not to mention all the parts you have to remove to make enough working room. I'm surprised you were able to get the alternator to stay put without it, as it is meant to securely clam the backside of the alternator and keep it fixed in place as you thigten the bolt that goes through it. As for the other bracket on the left it just supports a wire loom, I had to go back and check my video to verify as it's been about 9 months since I've done this repair. Check out time stamp 44.40 of this video for reference, I hope this helps Chris. Edited March 3 by CamperDan

Good to know only one of those belonged on the alternator. the long bolt, which I was supposed to use that L bracket on, I just used a random nut that was in my parts trey that fit, so I’m hoping that works… I’m sure that nut belonged to one of the pulleys I removed and now I get to take a trip to the parts store tomorrow. I’m kicking myself right now, good chance that random little nut I used (which was one of the most aneurism inducing things I’ve ever done) is going to be a major pain next time I have to remove it. That L bracket looks easier to get a wrench on compared to the nut I used. I was upside down head first in my engine bay ratcheting the front of the long bolt and holding a wrench on the other side, felt like I had my hand in a meat grinder. I almost gave up on this job myself, the good thing is it shouldn't be too hard to get the L bracket back on. I found it easier to work on getting it back on from under the R50 so you can see where it goes Chris. Edited March 3 by CamperDan
