Guest jd033
My Pathfinder makes a whistling sound when i start it and it gets louder when driving. Someone told me it was an EGR valve leak but i ended up replacing the whole valve because of emission problems. I still have a whistling sound tho. Any ideas? Cuong Nguyen
intake leak somewhere? do you have a cone intake or intake modifications?
Precise1
I have a slight whistling noise at lower rpm, especially when I let off the gas. MM has the same, but louder due to a K&N cone type filter he runs instead of the stock air box... This leads me to believe it is just something inherent in the intake design. Unless yours is EXTREMELY loud and performance seems to be effected, I wouldn't worry about it. Just tell people that your turbo whistles a little... 88pathoffroad
It's probably just the stock intake. I've noticed on Pathys with a cone filter installed that the intake noise is dramatically louder, dammn near annoying. Try cleaning your intake passage and butterfly and see what happens. There's a sticky at the top of the Garage forum on how to do that.
denisb
Maybe someone added a turbo in there when you weren't looking If so, let me know, I'll go park mine there for a week or so. I don't mind wistling. Denis
